980ti and it's a 1080p 60hz tv.

Okay I'm totally stuck on this right now. I'm getting a pretty big tax return and I don't know what I should do with it. I need a new monitor as I game on a tv right now. The one I want is the 35 inch acer predator 144hz. I also see that Nvidia is rumored to be releasing the pascal line of gpus this june. I want the new pascal gpu and the price I've seen rumored is 600$ for the "basic" and 900$ for the main flagship. I could buy the top tier one but the monitor I want is 1099$ I'm so torn as to what to do. Any input will help!

Title says it all, I'm wondering if I should use my tax return on getting another 980ti or if I should wait and buy the pascal when it's released. I'll have enough money to buy the top tier card when it's released. I'm just not sure if I should wait it out or SLI 980ti and buy a new monitor.

Okay Im currently taking an A+ hardware support class to get the basics for the comptia test. The book we have is covering thinges that I really feel are so outdated that it really isn't needed to know it. For cpus it's most recent intel covered is the 3rd Gen Sandy bridge. Yes I know the average user doesn't have gaming rigs. But how relevant is learning things about ivy and Sandy bridge and older ones when the current generation is at haswell and skylake? I mean it's still talking about agp slots on a mb. Do they even make mbs with those anymore? I'm just worried I wasted my money on the class and I'm starting to really struggle to force myself to go to class mainly due to lack of interest in learning outdated tech.

Wasn't sure if hyperthreading effected oc as its simulating more cores instead of having actual real cores.

Question do I want to turn hyperthreading off when I do my oc? I know how to overclock on the i5 4690k but not sure if hyperthreading changes anything? Also why does my setting change when I turn dynamic clock on or fixed clock? Like with dynamic on each core sits at I think 800hz with it off it goes back to what it should be with the multiplier. Like x44 it's at 4400.

Under load my gpu a 980ti is creeping close to the 80c throttle limit. I have a AIO on my cpu so it's not bad. Full load at 65c.

Okay so Ive noticed in the summer if I have the ac on my pc runs cooler. Problem is now it's winter and I can't exactly have my apartment at 65f all the time. Is there a way to keep my pc cooler and my apartment warmer or is the nature of air cooling such that the coolest temp you can get is what the outside air is? Would I need to go to watercooling to have a warmer apartment and a cooler pc?

It's suppose to be out this week or early next week. It's going to be round 700$ I think. I thought the TN panel is worse then the ips one

Okay I've been waiting for black Friday to upgrade my pc. I'm in a bit of a bind now as I'm not going to have as much money as I'd like seeing as I have to pay for a college class. I wanted, originally I wanted to buy: i7 4790k, change my cooling system to all water, upgrade my monitor from the current 1080p tv I use to the new ROG Swift PG279Q, and maybe buy a new mouse and keyboard. I'm NOT going to be able to buy all of that. At best I'm probably gonna be able to get one item. My question is what would give me the biggest change in my gaming? I'll also point out that I will most likely buy the rest of the stuff with my tax return this year. For the now though what would be the best thing to buy to get the most outta my gaming?

What's your cooling set up??? I have my 4690k OC to 4.6ghz but it will do 4.8ghz without breaking a sweat. My settings in bio are X46 multiplier, core clock 100, cpu volts 1.25 and ring ratio set to 3900 I think. I'm running an H110i water cooling unit. Under game stress I see no higher the 40 to 45c temps. Under full load I'm getting 60ish temps.

Okay why does intel skip the even numbers when they label a processor? Like you have core i3 i5 and i7 but no i4 i6 and i8s what's the deal??? Is there any specific reason or is it just how they decided to do it? Like does the 5 in the i5 represent something?

Okay I'm noticing that quite a few of the new titles coming out in November are having the i7 4790 as there recommend cpu. Is the i5 starting to show its age or has that always been the case? I've been putting off buying the 4790k for some time and I'm wondering if I'm kinda getting to the point where no matter how much I over clock my i5 I'd be getting a better gaming experience with the i7?

I still am confused as to how it would only be a small margin of increase. With high end cards running a very demanding task wouldn't the heat given off by multiple cards effect the water temp and ability to cool the cpu? Yes the water isn't staying and being heated like in a pot. But wouldn't it be heated by the first card, then heated more by any card after that. Then go from the gpu into the cpu carrying what ever heat it's picked up off the gpus, the having to pick up the heat from the cpu on top of what it already got. From the other cards before. So like say both cards add 20c of heat each so 40c is going out to the cpu. So on top of whatever heat the cpu already has its receiving 40c worth in heat from the water? Sorry if it sounds like I'm arguing with you I'm just interested and was never good at science. Just trying to explain my train of though.

How about if we add into the mix 2+ titan Xs running battlefield 4 at ultra high on triple monitor? I can see one card not making a difference but factoring in the highest end card on the market and I don't see how that wouldnt effect the cooling performance. Wouldn't two titan Xs put out almost 100 degrees each making the water in the loop close to 200+ degrees??

I've got a 760t and I just think the look of a front bay res for the cpu and the internal cylindrical rad for the gpu would look super cool

Okay I'm wondering if your able to run duel res in a system? I'm wanting to do a separate cpu and gpu loop to mainly cut down on extra tubing runs and to keep the heat down from both components. But I'm wondering if need be say one pump fails or just for looks, would I be able to hook both res together in one loop if the pump is strong enough? Or would it cause to many issues having two in one loop? Kinda like the look of a front bay res and a cylindrical one in the inside.

Temps have always been fine with no issues. Never hit above 60ish under full load. I water cool with the H110i so in terms of cooling I'm fine. I will be upping the cooling to a custom loop with a 360mm rad with triple push pull fans because I can....

Okay I've been researching overclocking the i5 4690k and I'm worried my previous oc was to far. My normal oc is x48 100 for 4.8Ghz and core volts at 1.310. I've seen other charts for the i5 and they seem to all BSOD at 4.8. Am I just super lucky and won big at the silicone lottery or am I pushing my cpu to hard and slowly killing it. It's passed 12+ hour stress testing I'm just unsure as to why I'm able to get 4.8 and like people that know far more then I'll ever know about overclocking can't get there chips there.

My temps hold steady at no higher then 60 to 65c on the afterburner display and while I do see in game cpu usage spikes of almost 90% I've not had any major temp issues. I'm running an H110i cpu cooler with 4 fans in a push pull configuration pulling the air inside my case out through the top. My in game graphics settings are FOV 59, 1920x1080p at ultra high everything as set by the Nvidia g force app thing. The gpu is a 980ti superclocked evga running at its outta the box oc for now. I seem to only crash when I transition from vehicles or when loading in after a death really fast.

Hmm okay, I've always run this oc with no issues for months now. I haven't seen many people able to get the 4690k oc to 4.8 so I'm kinda scared to touch it. Like if I start messing with it it'llsuddenly deside it doesn't like the 4.8 oc and I won't be able to get it back again:(

Okay so I've not had ANY issues with my OC until this weekend:( I'm running my i5 4690k oc to 4.8Ghz at 1.31V and I've never had a single issue. It passed a prim95 12ish hour test just fine and in every game/task I've thrown at it there's never beending any sign of trouble. So now while playing the Star Wars Battlefront beta I've had 2 crash to blue screen saying a core clock timing issue has been detected. Should I just chalk this up to hey its a beta and probably not as optimized as it could be or do I need to investigate? I've upped my core volts to 1.320. This is the only game that does this so I'm suspecting it's an issue with how it's coded sense it's still only a beta.

Isn't it better for the MB to have all the slots filled rather then just 2? I thought I read it's best to fill your dims if your able to.

Can someone tell me the best RAM speed for gaming??? I just got the generic 1600 DDR3 microcenter branded RAM. Im going to be upgrading my RAM seeing as the specs for Star wars battlefront recommends 16gb and currently all my slots are filled but only with 4gb each. So I'd be upgrading to 8gb in two slots for 16gb then getting another 16gb for a total of 32GB. Finally what would the best brand to get??? Is all Ram pretty much the same as in a 1600 DDR3 stick from corsair is basically the same as one from kingston?
