Daniel Z. got a reaction from AkoSiAdam in is it worth it to upgrade from an rx 570 to a 1660 super?
If you want to run 1440p or 4k for those games you'd need way more than just a 1660 Super. GTA Online is fine in my experience with my 1440p 165hz, 3700x, 1660 build because the FPS caps out around 80 anyways. AC Valhalla and Cyberpunk would be impossible with a 1660 Super at 1440p 144hz. However, they could be played at 1080p 75hz with the 1660 Super. I'd highly recommend waiting for the 3060 Ti to be in stock, or waiting for the 6700 and 6700 XT.

Get a 10400F, it’s a lot cheaper and nearly as good in gaming. For 1440p and 4K the difference would be almost none

what is the exact card model, and/or does it have a bios switch?

honestly doubt this, as you need some sort of storage media, then you would need to get the user to launch some sort of program with admin perms. also this is a physical example, not code.

What resolution do you play at? What games do you play? In general, I'd say no, but if you're just using a 1080p 60hz panel I guess it's a decent upgrade.

Could be that the board didn't ship with a recent enough BIOS revision to support your 5950X. Since the Aorus Pro supports BIOS Flashback, I'd get the latest BIOS off of Gigabyte's website onto a USB drive, and flash it onto the board.

To the people who think these products will worsen the supply situation with higher end cards I'd like to remind you that Nvidia isn't run by idiots. They know what they are doing. They won't reduce the supply of high margin cards like the 3080 to sell low margin cards like some 3050.
Chances are they will be able to make these new cards without it affecting the supply of the other cards that have higher margins and are selling like butter. It makes absolutely no sense to assume these lower end cards will negatively effect the supply of higher end cards.
If for example the issue is GDDR6 supply then these lower end models might use other GDDR5X. That way Nvidia's card output isn't as bottlenecked by memory supply and as a result we might see a big uptick in supply.

But that's speculation bases on a rumor. Who know what will happen.

The 32GB RAM is likely overkill. SSD also, there's no need for such an expensive drive. A cheaper 1TB SSD should be fine. The stock cooler is probably good enough also, I'd either use that or just get a better cooler like a 240mm AIO or a larger 140mm fan cooler like the NH-D15.

Daniel Z. reacted to DailyProcrastinator in Every PC part is out of stock?
We are in awkward middle ground between new hardware being 'released' and old hardware going out of stock. Inflated hardware on previous gen parts is because of 3rd party sellers. Unfortunately I would not recommend building at this moment, wait for new gen parts to come in stock, buying a RX 5700 is a hard pill to swallow. A R5 3600 is still a good buy though.

As for availability, in Canada we are going to be waiting until 2021 for stock that is still likely sold out regardless. So it could be end of Q2 before some parts are scarcely available.

And this is all COVID related, every part of the process is impacted because of pandemic (from manufacturing to transportation). Not a surprise at all, best to be patient, there are more important things to worry about than PC parts. Unfortunately it will likely take 1+ years for this to normalize.

Get the Zen 3/Ryzen 5000. Probably the 5600x if you're not doing much work with the PC. At 4k it almost doesn't matter at all what CPU you use as long as it's decent, and at 1440p the difference is minor. However, 1080p is much more CPU bound and a better gaming CPU goes a long way.

Oh yeah, that's true. The power supply isn't nearly enough. From pictures, looks like the 3070 has to be at most 2 slots wide. Length shouldn't be a big deal unless it's a massive cooler. Every two fan, two slot card will fit as far as I know. A few three fan cards might fit. Try to get a founders edition or similar size 3060 Ti or 3070. Then get the power supply I linked here
