There is nothing in the manual, or specification, so i would say you are good to just add a M.2 NVMe SSD.

I can't see or think of any reason why it would not work.

I know some mobos turn off a Sata port if you put a Sata drive in the m.2 but can't find anything like that on that mobo.

depending on how nice the IT staff at work is, and how much you work from home, ask them if you can borrow a HP type c dock from work to connect your displays.

if not that, my bet would probably be on "sort by price cheapest TB dock with a HDMI or DP port". to connect the second monitor.

It can work but be weary of going through to many walls with 6GHz, even thin ones can cause an impact at higher frequencies.

Alternatively, the supplies to run a cable through the walls yourself are not very expensive and the skills to do it yourself will serve you well in the long run. If you are dead set against that though then you could also try ethernet over power line adapters, its cheaper but results can vary depending on the quality of your in home wiring.

If it a routing issue, usually VPN could fix it. You can try download Cloudflare Warp and check if the routing change.
    https://cloudflarewarp.com

Also you can try clearing your system DNS cache by opening an elevated cmd prompt and run ipconfig /flushdns

Ping is essentially a measure of distance. The further away the server from your location, the higher it'll be. If a network route is congested (or e.g. an undersea cable damaged) and packets have to go a more roundabout way, that can also be a reason why it is now higher.

Changing your local equipment will have little influence on this. Changing ISPs might help, if the other ISP has contracts that results in a more direct route to Asia. A VPN could potentially help if it causes traffic to go a more direct route. But otherwise, there's little you can do to improve ping other than connect to a game server that is closer to your region.

I live in a 1300 Sq foot home. At the time we had 100/10 service. I spend $200 on my router. Its the Synology RT2600AC. I was happy with the purchase. Not only does it cover the whole house and part of the back yard, it also has some nice features. One of the features I use is the per device bandwidth monitoring. We have a 1.2 TB data cap with Comcast, so I can check to see what devices are hogging the data. This router has more features than Id ever use, but between 3 adults and lots of streaming between my Plex server and what ever streaming services we use at the time, plus my gaming it does well.

Speed is not the only concern here. You need to figure out what features you want. Also cheaper routers tend to have weaker SOC's and can get bogged down if your pushing tons of data thru them. That all being said, I do know that at least before the inflation and all the shortages the minimum I would have suggested paying would have been $80 ish and that would have gotten you something from TP Link, while it wouldn't have been feature rich, it probably would have worked fine.

Sounds like your existing router is choking when trying to manage bandwidth allocation to multiple connected devices. This might result in bufferbloat.

You won't notice this much on higher bandwidth connections since there is so much bandwidth to share, even a little bit of slowdown isn't enough to be noticeable.

Yes, getting a more expensive router with "better numbers" might solve the issue, but the real problem might be the protocol that the router uses to manage the traffic. Routers or firewall OSes that use some form of queue management (e.g. SQM) will be much more efficient at intelligently allocating the necessary bandwidth to the type of traffic coming into the LAN thereby preventing any one device from slowing down.

I'm more thinking towards CPU overload on a cheap (altho undisclosed) router. Maybe not having the wireless bandwidth.
As every device wirelessly connected will make the whole slower, as they all will have to wait on one another. Which can introduce latency.
But most likely its a combination of things.

However it is indeed weird that going from 250mbit to 100mbit gave so much troubles, it really shouldn't. (at least not like that).
I would first check Speedtest.net and see what the speeds are, and also the latency.
And just to be sure also test on Fast.com which is Netflix's bandwidth test site.

(I currently have a 100mbit connection and i can watch even 8K Youtube videos with no problem. so 4K or lower should surely work too.)

If i may correct you on the numbers. (altho these are averages, they can be higher or lower).
    4K is around 15Mbps
    1080p around 5mbps.
This is Netflix and thus has a relatively low bit-rate, and high codec compressions. (compared to things like Blu-ray)

250mbps is the bandwidth allocated from the ISP, it will be shared to all devices, so if 1 of your device using 150mbps, the rest should only use max 100mbps.
    A 1080p netflix will cost 20-30mpbs while 4k should be around 80.
Distance and obstacles is also key for better signal.

Xiaomi 4A gigabit AC router, only cost around $30 AUD.
You don't need wifi 6 for only 2 rooms apt. Especially if your download rate is only 250mbps.

some mixed answers but i'll just try back up the important apps individually to keep any macros for them and do a clean new install on a brand new ssd.
seems to be the safest and potentially time saving option overall.

chances are that it will be fine. i did the same. i moved from a amd 1700x to an intel 10900k. i only needed to reactivate windows.

i would suggest that you remove any programms that are related to the motherboard etc

Upgrading your CPU is not the same as upgrading your entire platform, especially when moving from Intel to AMD. You can probably get away with it, but I would highly recommend doing a clean installation of Windows. Yes, it may take a while to get everything configured again, but it's worth it to avoid the random issues you can encounter with an old copy of Windows that you've moved from another platform.

I Would say no. Since you are moving to an entirely different platform that has its own specific chipset drivers it is always best practice to just reinstall completely and start from scratch. Otherwise you risk running into all sort of weird issues, performance loss and BSODs.

Even if you are not upgrading, it is actually not a bad idea to reinstall Windows once in a while in order to keep everything running optimally. I personally reinstall my OS once a big new update is out.

I have changed/upgraded hardware and kept my old Windows install several times.
It usually works fine but once or twice I have needed to do a full reinstall of Windows.

    Just do it

Backup your important files before upgrading so you are safe.

You will need to reinstall most of the software if you do fresh install. Unless you have made system image as backup, then you should be able to restore that.

By Windows install kit, what do you mean by that? Did you buy USB or made it yourself with Media Creation Tool?

As for last, I would do it now. Moving drives with OS drive can be complicated.

You can always just check the Task manager; see what uses your hardware. That's what I do.
Also, if able to, I always disable hardware acceleration in programs, so they won't take GPU performance.
I do keep hardware acceleration in browsers though, cuz otherwise they will lag a lot.

Yes, even if it does, you still have the option to go sideways (upgrading the cores) in the future.
This cannot happen in Intel current offerings, and to make things worst, the cap the core count to just 8 in the next 11th gen.
16 cores is soo much, the same PC might be usable 10+ years just by replacing the CPU.
So AM4 still have plenty to offer.

I think the 5600x will hold good for 1080p to 1440p high refresh rate rating, it is a pretty strong cpu, and i think the upgrade path you are taking is good, and you will be able to enjoy high fps gaming with the new cpu and gpu
