comicsansms got a reaction from Nishanth S in Help me choose a Laptop for College : )
Also, all of the classrooms at my University have computers in it, and at any given time there’s 100 unused computers at the library. You could get away without a laptop.
Lectures are really the only time you really need one, but I cannot imagine you’d have live on campus lecturers atm.

There is also a Thread for Cinebench scores.

comicsansms got a reaction from TopHatProductions115 in Can I upgrade my HP Probook 6570b's CPU?
Probook 6570B will use Socket G2 CPUs (PGA998B). My Elitebook 8470P originally came with an ivybridge i5, but that got swapped out with an i7 3630QM, then to an i7 3720QM, - plus for a brief period, a sandybridge i5, (because I could).
You should be able to upgrade to a quadcore sandy or ivy socket G2 i7. Also, make sure you have a HP 90W charger, because the computer will slow itself down if it sees a 65W charger

comicsansms got a reaction from 17030644 in Do I Need A 1000W PSU?
Not really. It really depends on the unit, some are below 50, while others are closer to 90. Anyway, most of the time, you aren't going to use 375W of a 750W supply, so that logic falls away there.
If you want a PSU with better efficiency; get a more efficient supply, not a higher wattage supply.

comicsansms got a reaction from Katze in AM4 X570-A Pro Motherboard fan supposed to spin?
If the fan spins up on startup then stops, it is just testing to see if the fan works or not.
It should turn on when the chipset is getting hot, and needs to cool it down.

Lowered your power limit from the full 750W to 600W????
What do you mean by this? Your system is like a 250W system. I think your computer just isn't stable.

comicsansms got a reaction from Snotrap in STX Mobo PSU Help!
It needs a laptop power cable. Weirdly, Gigabyte's site doesn't say what size the jack is. I would get a 120W universal charger from Officeworks or something. Don't buy a non-name off ebay, it'll be shit, and likely will kill something.

CX450 or CX430? Bit of a difference
Either way, a Ryzen 2600 and a GTX 950 will easily run on either.

comicsansms got a reaction from Turtle Rig in HELP, Audio is not working...
Have you selected the correct audio source?
After you have selected the correct source, click on the volume bar. That should give you a ding sound.
If you get the ding, you have just got your audio output set to the wrong device.

comicsansms got a reaction from Fasauceome in Can my Seasonic M12II 620w PSU handle Aorus 2070super
No. Get a new PSU. Your existing PSU is crap.
A good 550W supply is more than adequate.
Something like a Corsair RMx is ideal

comicsansms got a reaction from Matsozetex in Seasonic SS-520GM2 520W 80+ Bronze - Fan replacement?
Buy a new PSU, preferably one that's not old shit, like that is.
Replacing the fan in the PSU is just unsafe
- EXACT fan replacements are required, or the PSU could cook itself.
- The PSU retains charge, even if it is not plugged in. Touching a 500V cap, can be deadly
- If something happens, and your PSU catches fire, and burns your house down, your insurance won't cover it, nor will seasonic's, because you modified a critical safety feature

comicsansms reacted to OrionFOTL in Is the Seasonic S12II Bronze 520w enough for my build?
The VS series is avoided because it's group regulated, which directly affects voltage regulation and load regulation on modern 12V-heavy PCs. That's the main reason and why people should pick DC-DC or dual magamp PSUs. Both CX-M and CX use DC-DC converters.
Double forward primary topology isn't a big minus or a reason to avoid, it only increases the chance for coil whine on high end graphics cards.
It isn't less efficient than CX. On Cybenetics, the CX450M has an ETA-A- rating, while CX450 by Great Wall has ETA-A- too, and CX450 by CWT has ETA-S (less efficient). The tested CX550 and CX550M also have the same ETA certificate.
It's not louder in general than CX - on Cybenetics, CX450M is *quieter* than CX450 Great Wall and CX450 CWT. Where do you get this stuff from?
CX550M is louder than CX550 in Cybenetics testing, however.
So, while CX is still better than CXM due to an LLC resonant converter used in the primary topology, there's no reason to avoid CXM. VS is avoided because it's group regulated, has low end performance, worse transient response, is rated at only 30 degrees C, and has low efficiency (80+ Standard) - none of these things apply to CXM or CX.
