Dinkleberg reacted to Herman Mcpootis in Entry PC
yes, but there are firestrike benchmarks suggesting that the 480 will be at r9 fury/gtx 980 performance, while being at the price of a gtx 960/r9 380/380x. even if it ends up underperforming, it'll still be a great value for the money.

This guy is just pissed that his less than a year old GTX 980 is now a shit tier card in his own eyes.

Not really. 2/3 of DX12 games currently have or will have A-sync support. It's quite potent as it allows the game to perform better with less powerful hardware
Yep - cause AMD are going balls to the wall aggressive with pricing

It should be noted that you're going a tier down each generation, the HD 7970 was the flagship, the 280X had the 290 series that was better than it, while the 380X had the Fury's and the 390 series ahead of it.

Welcome to capitalism. Where businesses charge as much as they can, and maintain enough customers to turn the biggest profit possible.

Dinkleberg reacted to don_svetlio in Will Polaris 10 be priced like the 380 or the 390?
7950 and 380 are not the same - 380 is a LOT more efficient, runs cooler, has a much beefier Tess engine, supports A-sync via 64+1 lanes (as opposed to 32+1 on the 7950) and supports all the new things like bridgeless CF, Free-sync and etc

Dinkleberg reacted to STRMfrmXMN in Difference between Corsair RM100i and RM1000x?
The GQ's semi modular design is actually better for 99% of people because the only non-removable cable is the 24-pin. Because of this, the 24-pin is placed as close as possible to the motherboard tray of your chassis, making cable management easier.
I personally use an EVGA 550GS in my own system and it doesn't get hot. 120MM is plenty to keep it cool, don't worry about that.
If the GS or GQ are cheaper than the G2 or RMx then grab either of them.

Dinkleberg reacted to don_svetlio in GTX 1070 or GTX 1080
1080 is listed for 600$ and probably 700$ with an AF cooler
1070 for 400$ and likely 450$ for AF coolers. Prices are shit

That CPU will bottleneck anything above a R9 380X
-
Dinkleberg reacted to don_svetlio in best GPU for 300
Both. Currently, a R9 380X is what I advise and then look into upgrading to an i5 4460
-
Dinkleberg reacted to tbroadwater2010 in best GPU for 300
I believe you spent your money on a really nice monitor when you should have spent it on a better CPU/GPU.
You can get a sweet R9 290 for around that price but your CPU will keep you back.

Dinkleberg reacted to Castdeath97 in Is the GTX970 good enough for 1440p gaming at 30hz-60hz
Mostly at medium-high at 60 fps, but you will be better off with a R9 390 for higher resolutions.
-
Dinkleberg reacted to Darkseth in Is the GTX970 good enough for 1440p gaming at 30hz-60hz
its kinda OT, but 1440x2560 is not 2k
1080x1920 is 2k, if double of that resolution is 4k.
@ Topic: R9 390 > GTX 970. The only reason why you should consider a GTX 970 is if at least one of following 2 points are fulfilled:
- You have a G-Sync Monitor
- You have a 400w PSU, which might be too small for a R9 390.
