TheTechGenius got a reaction from Just The Tips in Experiences with non-techies
I remember about 9-10 years ago (I am 26), my uncle wanted to use my computer for something, and he was about 80 something years old. He started typing on the keyboard while looking down at the keyboard the entire time, and when he was typing, he would push down on every key he pressed VERY HARD. I asked him why do you press so hard and hold it down for so long?

He replied "Because you have to make sure the Ink touches the paper all the way, so its not faded, that's how my typewriter works".

When you look at the screen to see what he was typing, it was like this:

    "tttttttyyyyyyyppppppeeeeee"

Lmao, I didn't get mad at him or make fun of him or anything like that. He was very old, so I tried to explain to him the best way  I can.  In the end, he just gave up. lol. He passed away a few months later though,  he is in a better place.

Thats not really a "Don't", its Advice.

Because there is nothing wrong with buying a high watt PSU with almost any kind of build. You have to remember, Good quality PSU's can last a life time, so its better to get a high wattage PSU, so you don't have to worry about not having enough power in the future when you upgrade your componets. Besides, its good to have a High Wattage PSU laying arround, you never know when you might need that extra Wattage.

I have never taken my PC to a repair shop. However, I do know people that taken their PC to a repair shop, such as Geek Squad. And OMG, Geek Squad employes must be the most uneducated  people in the business.  Their solution to everything is "We need to reinstall windows and format the hard drive". lmao.

I think they need to come up with a test, to test the people that try to get jobs at Geek Squad. And they need to make the test very hard for the people that know nothing about computers. Because the people that know computers will pass it with no problem at all.

I think they take like a 2 hour training course and then they have the Job.

Knowing computers for the most part, cannot be trained or taught (Unless you have some type of degree in IT). That knowledge must be gained through hands on experience.

TheTechGenius got a reaction from Vitalius in so is posting tv shows online piracy?
Actually, pirating is a part of life. A Part of internet life.

And, if I pirate a game/software, that means I wont be buying it anyway.

Why would I give my money to a half assed developer that just wants to rush the game production to get paid?

What is so hard to understand about that?

I think the only companies that I do give my money to, is DICE (battlefield series), VALVE (Counter Strike Source is my fav FPS), and the number one Game Developer in my book is Kojima Productions (Metal Gear Solid series). There may be a few more, but that is the main ones.

Kojima Productions is the only Game Production Company that takes the most pride in what they do, and what they put on the shelves. If you watch some "The Making Of" videos with Hideo Kojima, you will see exactly what I am talking about. He does not/will not release a game if he has the slightest doubt about the quality of the final product.  I have seen that making Metal Gear Solid 4, when the game was just about finished, he felt the game was not done and flawed and actually scrapped the game and started from scratch. (If im not mistaken)

That is one hell of a game developer that cares about what he creates. Kojima even put himself in Metal Gear Solid 5 Ground Zeroes, and it looked exactly like him. With the special shades he wears and everything.  Thats why I have bought every Metal Gear Solid game to date. Because I know if Kojima is directing the game, its going to be good no matter what.

Thats how all game developers should be. All game devs should have the passion, and the will to create unique master pieces. But sadly, most game devs don't have the passion for the games they release. Which is why I pirate those games.

That's a bad idea for a forum where there are tons of content loaded from non-encrypted URLs. If the forum were to retrieve and store local copies of all things posted then it' could be a good move, but as things are right now, and as they previously noticed when they tried it out, it's a no-go.

Never hard-code the transfer protocol, simply use // to make the browser handle it. That'll probably save you tons of work if you have to change things up in the future.

I forgot to add this to my post:

There is also no such thing as game demos anymore. There may be a few Trial version of games, but not many.  So we are basically taking a leap of faith every time we buy a game.

A lot of game devs are getting lazy and not caring what they put out. So why should I buy their games, when they don't even care about the shit they develop?

I think SSL/HTTPS should be enabled on the store pages, to ensure the customers their information being sent and received is safe.
I see SSL is already enabled on the Login/Logout pages, so I know the site already has an authorized SSL Certificate installed.
You can do this with an .htaccess file or a web.config file on a iis server.
Or you could enable SSL throughout the entire site. You can do this in the config.php file with in the ip.board files. Change [board_url] from http:// to https:// .
I did this myself on my board, when I bought my SSL Certificate.

I just seen this when I was renewing my Dot Net Domain.

LTT could register "LinusTech.Tips" as either a permanent domain, or even a redirect to this domain. I just thought it was cool, since the site is named LinusTechTips, so there wouldn't be any Dot COM, it would only be "LinusTech.Tips". That seems very unique, professional,  and original. I think its a lot better then the Dot Com domain that the site is on now. I also think it would improve Search Engine Rankings.

NOTE: I found this top level domain on NameCheap.

Actually, you wouldn't need to change any settings what so ever, just make the domain act like linustechtips.com, but under the linustech.tips alias.

That being said, someone already owns that domain; it's released (if not renewed) in the winter of 2015. But it's taken by a domain hoarder... so the chance of it being released [cheaply] is low.

Exactly. I recommend 16GB nowadays too. I always install 16GB in all my new builds. Times are changing, software and game engines are getting more and more advanced. The 8GB minimum rule is turning into 16GB now.
