  1. ran this with my new drive conencted. magically worked. Thanks everyone. so much respect for people helping others on forums.
  2. Lol. So after the safe boot and back into normal I see my drive again. Is it worth it to press further? It's a quirk I'm ok dealing with hahaha.
  3. Thanks for the reassurance. Love the rush and cold sweat when something turns the wrong way. Booted into safe mode and I do see my drive in file explorer. What steps to take from here.
  4. Hi, So I bought a new 1tb seagate drive because I needed more space. Should have been a simple install but now im in a stupid situation. I have an asrock z97 extreme 3 with existing 256gb ssd (windows 10 boot drive) and 1tb hdd. Initially plugged in the new drive with power and sata3. Saw it appear in my BIOS, but when I went into Windows (device manager, disk management, and diskpart: list disk) it wasn't showing up. Was weird so I did a quick google search and ended up trying a different SATA port and running a separate power cable from psu. Neither worked. Oh well, I will just return to amazon and ask for a new one. No big deal. -BUT during the process I ended up removing my already existing 1tb hdd, and booting. When reconnecting and rebooting back into windows, I dont see the drive anymore. It shows in my bios, but again, nowhere in windows. I can get my data off using another computer but I can't be adding any new drives with this problem. Below is a snapshot of seeing only my boot drive even though I have old ssd and hdd connected with both showing in bios. Any help appreciated. Thank you.
  5. I'll try DDU cause I need to find some time to perform a clean install. If it were the PSU, there's not other way of testing it than just swapping it out eh?
  6. Hey guys, For the last few weeks my computer started crashing when I started specific games. It completely shuts down with no warning and starts itself back up again. It started when I tried to play Rocket League with a friend; it shut off within 10-15 secs of getting onto the menu screen. I turned down the video settings at the time and used hwinfo64 to keep track of the temps on my system but there was nothing out of the ordinary. Tried a few other games to test it out: In Diablo 3 it was almost an instantaneous crash once I got to the menu. In Black Desert, I crashed a little after I loaded into the game. Oddly, Witcher 3 ran for quite some time at high graphics and hasn't crashed on me yet. On less demanding games, like League Of Legends and some indie games, it runs with without a problem (except for a single time it died during league). I updated my graphics drivers but still have the same problem. My specs are as is: Asrock Extreme 3 z97 4690k clocked to 4.0ghz Gigabyte gtx 970 windforce adata 256gb ssd seagate 1tb hdd cooler master 750w psu (g750m) Sounds like a software/driver issue? I was thinking of resetting windows and starting anew; I built the computer a little over two years ago and it is due for a clean up. Some suggested procedures would also be helpful. I really appreciate all the help, this issue has been impeding my gaming for a while now. Thanks so much. I also have this (useless?) event log: -edit so i ended up replacing my psu. it was one of the parts i disliked the most during my initial build. got evga 550w gold and works perfect. less power but should be enough for the system and is much better quality.
