  1. Do you want the first drive to be mounted as home? or just have it for extra storage? You will first have to boot into windows and create an unallocated partition of 50GB on your western digital disk. If you want it as extra storage go for this: (You will just be able to throw files onto the 50GB in this scenario, your system wont be dependant on it.) -The new unallocated space formatted as ext4 -The whole usb stick formatted as ext4 and mounted as root (/) If you want it to be mounted as home go for this: -The new unallocated space formatted as ext4 and mounted as /home -The whole usb stick formatted as ext4 and mounted as root (/) If your system has low ram then you could go for around 4GB of swap area on the usb, but its up to you.

  4. So I have been attempting to pass through one of my 760's to use in a VM in Arch GNU/Linux using the guide found in this reddit post. Everything has gone smoothly so far except for the fact that when I run: lspci -nnk I get this: 01:00.0 VGA compatible controller [0300]: NVIDIA Corporation GK104 [GeForce GTX 760] [10de:1187] (rev a1) Subsystem: Gigabyte Technology Co., Ltd Device [1458:360b] Kernel driver in use: nvidia Kernel modules: nouveau, nvidia 01:00.1 Audio device [0403]: NVIDIA Corporation GK104 HDMI Audio Controller [10de:0e0a] (rev a1) Subsystem: Gigabyte Technology Co., Ltd Device [1458:360b] Kernel driver in use: snd_hda_intel Kernel modules: snd_hda_intel 02:00.0 VGA compatible controller [0300]: NVIDIA Corporation GK104 [GeForce GTX 760] [10de:1187] (rev a1) Subsystem: Gigabyte Technology Co., Ltd Device [1458:360b] Kernel driver in use: nvidia Kernel modules: nouveau, nvidia 02:00.1 Audio device [0403]: NVIDIA Corporation GK104 HDMI Audio Controller [10de:0e0a] (rev a1) Subsystem: Gigabyte Technology Co., Ltd Device [1458:360b] Kernel driver in use: snd_hda_intel Kernel modules: snd_hda_intel The issue is that both GPU's have the same PCI ID (10de:1187, 10de:0e0a). This is stopping me from binding only the second card to pci-stub so the nvidia driver wont use it, and I can then pass it through to a VM. When I try binding the two given id's to pci-stub it stops nvidia from using both cards, and when I run "startx" it errors. I also compiled the linux-vfio kernel and I am currently using that. Does anyone know a way to get the GPU's to have different PCI ID's? Any help would be appreciated, thanks in advance.

  7. Alrighty, Thank you so much for all the help!
  8. I removed the realtek audio driver (I still have sound because win10 already has the drivers installed I think) and the marvell driver. So far so good, I think you fixed my problem So should I just go for that first amp you posted? AFAIK all a DAC does is take the digital signal and convert it to analog, so if my onboard is not giving me any problems, all I need is an amp?
  9. Yeah, they both have the static.
  10. Actually, yeah I do have constant static coming from my on board audio when no sound is coming through.
  11. So my Beyerdynamic DT-990 Pro's 250 ohm came in today and they sound amazing, but only when I plug them into my stereo which seems to drive them very well. The volume goes very high and they have very heavy bass. The problem is when I plug them into my PC it does not sound as great, the bass is MUCH weaker and the volume will not go nearly as high. So my question is, what would be a good DAC/Amp to drive these headphones properly so they sound the same as when I plug them into my stereo, any help would be greatly appreciated. My budget is around $100 CAD for this, but it is flexible.
  12. What is the difference between the 80 ohm and 250 ohm?
  13. Ok thanks for the help, I will take a look at those. Edit: The 880 and 990 are a bit too much over budget so I am probably just going to go for the 770
  14. Thanks, lol. I am liking the way these are looking though: http://www.amazon.ca/Beyerdynamic-PRO-Headphone-250-ohms/dp/B0006NL5SM
  15. Yeah, I was planning on getting a mod mic. You think those Sennhieser's I posted above will be good for me?
  16. Hello everyone, I am currently looking into buying new headphones. I currently have the Hyper X Cloud 2's and I feel that they are too weak in terms of bass. I want a pair of over ear headphones in the price range of around $200 CAD. I am mainly going to be using them for gaming and listening to music. I play a lot of FPS games like CS but I also listen to a lot of Hip-Hop and Rap so I enjoy heavy bass. From what I understand, open headphones are the way to go for gaming but you loose out on the bass . I also would like a pretty comfortable pair that are not going to hurt my ears after 6+ hour sessions. I heard that the Audio-Technica ATH-M50x are pretty nice for bass, but I also heard that they are not that great for gaming. I noticed that these Sennheiser's are on sale for a good price right now here, but I assume they have weaker bass because they are open. I am essentially trying to find the sweet spot, powerful bass but still good for gaming for example, hearing footsteps. Anybody have some recommendations? Thanks in advance.
