You can start easy with Cinebench R20/23 then AIDA64 mem benchmark then Linpack Xtreme

That's for 3200. Most 3600 is actually CL18, with good ones at CL16 and the best at CL14

it looks like this, so for the one where you need 8, you use the left (6) + the right (2). For the one where you need 6 pins, you just use the left one (6) and leave the right one loose

6+2 IS an 8 pin connector... it just gives you the option that a static 8-pin only doesn't.

I picked up the 30 day trial for primocache and loved it, the trial just ran out and I was going to purchase the liscence but Linus said Storemi was going to come out with the XT cpus. I'm just waiting for it to set up my caching again.

Yeah you're going to end up dropping probably about $1000 at least before you start seeing any meaningful performance increases. Think i7-10700k+Z490+new ram or a 3900x build, even then you're likely looking at single digit percentages at most. On top of that you'd need like a 2070 Super at the minimum which is an insane waste of money when you already have a GTX 1080. 2080 Super/2080 Ti would triple your budget right off.

There's really no upgrade path for you within your budget, if you're not getting the performance you want at all. My advice would be to go 10700k or 3900x and wait for Ampere or RDNA2 and probably spend like $600 on one of those avoid an upgrade that's not actually an upgrade.

Windows 10 Pro is "better", don't worry about it.

Spend some more time trying to push the 6700k, maybe delid. Tweak that super slow memory into something 3000mhz+. You'll find more performance there for free than you'd likely see from $400 if you don't end up with downgrade for that money even. Buy some nice storage or get some accessories, new mousepad, maybe a nice keyboard or something instead. You could also of course save the money for a more worthwhile upgrade in a year or two.

If your monitor is one of the G-Sync Compatible models, then G-Sync should automatically enable itself, as should variable refresh rates. If not, you can manually enable G-Sync using the following steps:
    Open Nvidia Control Panel
Go to “Display: Set up G-SYNC”
Check “Enable G-SYNC G-SYNC Compatible” and select your preferred options
    Select your monitor
Check “Enable settings for the selected display model”
    Apply settings

TMobile reacted to PlayStation 2 in Playing FHD video on FHD monitor vs 4K monitor
No, it won’t, it’s a fucking myth that 1080p video looks better at 2160p and the people who peddle that damn myth should be shot on the spot.
When anything is played at its non-native resolution, it is scaled to compensate for that. If anything 1080p video at 2160p will just look blurry and blocky if the compression sucks.

Do you really need a 3900x?
I think it's foolish to spend money on something that will be outdated in a few months.

I'd consider buying a 1TB NVME SSD before prices go back up.
2400mhz RAM is an odd choice as well, as it's robbing you of considerable performance. I'd consider upgrading that to faster memory.
