uno99 reacted to DadT3ch in Underwear 3-pack - Am I really an XL?
I'm 5'10" and about 180lbs with a skinny/pudgy Dad build.  I traditionally buy size medium underwear; mostly Hanes and Kirkland boxer briefs.  I also usually buy 33-34 inch waist pants.  I managed to snag the half off deal this past holiday season and I went with the size L due to the most recent sizing recommendations.  New out of the package the L fit good but there was an ever so slight gap around the waist, less than a pinky finger.  Once they went through a wash/dry cycle they fit perfectly.  Not as snug as my other garments but I was already teetering on the sizing threshold for mediums in Hanes and Kirkland.

I'm very happy with them so far.  Sizing, feel, pattern, all amazing. Not 50 dollars + shipping for 3 amazing but thats what holiday sales are for and I will absolutely be buying more this year if they go BOGO for 50% off again.

I would definitely wall mount the TV. Pick out a center channel, and mount the TV just above the height of your center channel speaker that will sit on the cubby shelf/TV stand. Get something kind of chonky, like this. Not necessarily Klipsch, but at least two 4 or 5 inch mid-range drivers and a tweeter. You could even do more drivers if you really wanted to, though price will go up naturally. The wider ones do look a bit better aesthetically with the width of large format TV's. But if it's possible to hide the wires, I'd move the front right/left to roughly these locations:

If you can go further apart, ie: the left all the way on the bottom liquor shelf, the right to the far right of the mantle, that would (edit) improve the sound stage more. But you also don't necessarily want the right speaker 'in front' (closer to your sitting position) than the left speaker. Though you could correct that with manual adjustments or built-in room analysis if your receiver has it.

For going to 5.1, find some medium size (~20-24" tall) floor standing speakers or bigger bookshelf speakers and replace your current fronts with those. If you go with floor standing speakers, you could leave them where your existing speakers are. Then relocate your existing speakers as the rears.

    Thanks for your input Omon!
I think the wireless speaker idea is sort of dead to me really. It just replaces one cable with another and I think it would be easy enough to run the speakerwire under the rug as ender suggested, but it's nice to have the option and your placement ideas seem plausible.

Probably what I will do is start out with a 3.1 system and then add the rears at a later date. Lacking the center channel is really terrible for speech in movies and it's driving us crazy.
placing the center channel has it's own challenges with my set up but I think I can rig up a solution.... Maybe it's time to mount the TV to the wall.

Problem solved! It was just an out of date BIOS?!
without known good parts to swap things in and out, I swallowed my pride and took my rig to a computer store. They told me it was just the bios. I'm a bit shocked since I didn't think my bios was that old and I didn't think it could cause that level of stability problems..., but sure enough everything is working great now.

Right... I forgot about pihole. Never tried it before but it's a good option I guess.

It's a shame because I want to support content creators but ads every 3 minutes is just unwatchable.

uno99 got a reaction from Tristerin in 5700 XT huge clock fluctuations Please help :(
    Triestern thanks so much again.
I actually did a few things and tweaked everything. Im running Superposition benchmark and it seems like my results are on par with other users. 5426 was my best overclocked score with 3200 ddr @ 18T
Also it looks like this benchmark fully saturates my GPU and my core clock is pretty much pinned at max the whole time.
I'm gonna go play my game now (finally) and atleast now I'll know that theres nothing wrong with my computer making the performance not great.
