  1. I recently got a Type C supported monitor for my workstation with the Gigabyte M27Q, as it had the support for KVM which should let me transfer my peripherals between my desktop and laptop. I got the desktop part to work (connected the DP and USB A passthrough), but I can't seem to get my Asus Zephyrus laptop to work via USB C. I started looking to cables that supports this but I got stuck in a wormhole of 100+ kinds of USB C cables/standards. I guess my question is, which USB C cables would work? My laptop model is the 2021 G14 with 5800H and RTX 3050.
  2. Hello community! About a month ago, I've been having problems with my 2013 11in MBA. It got wonky when I tried booting it up and it took about 20 mins in the Apple loading screen (it does boot up, rather slowly). Opening apps such as safari (which opens instantly about a few months before) takes about 20 seconds to load up. First option that I did was to go to an Apple Service Center to have it checked. Sadly, the technician told me that the SSD was indeed in its last breath and it had to be replaced. The said replacement was going to cost me roughly $350 to replace the SSD (to another 128gb ssd) and to install the latest MacOS. The rep also told me that cloning/recovering data from the old SSD would be nearly impossible because of its current state, and it was much more cost effective to have a fresh install of MacOS. Thankfully, all of my important files are in my Desktop Computer since the MBA didn't really have the capacity to keep them all. Knowing the high price of service centers, I tried searching for DIY solutions that may help my case. Apparently, the MBA Mid 2013 spec had an Apple proprietary M.2 drive setup that required the M.2 drive have a 12x16 pin config. Having said that, I've only seen 2 SSD's having those specifications and they're both as expensive and have no 128gb option. Transcend Jetdrive 820 256gb - $200 OWC Aura 256 gb - $200-ish Anyways, is there any way for me to use the normal over-the-counter SSD's like the EVO 960, Intel 600p, and alike? First hand experiences would be appreciated. Help a brother out! Thanks
  3. Hello ltt experts! I recently moved to the house beside my parents home and I am having problems connecting to their wifi connection. Since they don't really use the wifi that much, they gave me permission to "extend" their connection to my house (we live in one compound so extending wouldn't be a problem). I've tried researching for range extenders but I've heard they cut the connection speeds in half because of signal and many other factors. Also, I dont think range extenders would work since the signal in my house from theirs drops to 1 bar or even no bars of signal at all. Also, the powerline method wouldn't work since we have different electricity cables. Routing an ethernet cable from their router to my house is a possible option but I need a guide of some sorts to pull this off (e.g. maintaining 2 routers). Also, my parent's router is the built in modem for the DSL so I'm worried that their wifi might not work when I use the ethernet method. Any other suggestions/ideas?
  4. **** UPDATE **** Just reinstalled windows 10. It prompted for a new version of Windows 10 that I should "try out" and I did. Touchpad input lag is fixed but now I can't use native windows 10 gestures (I could only scroll up and down and nothing else) tried updating ASUS/ELANTech drivers but to no avail. Thermal throttling issue still persists (hardware issue, I know) Chrome still stutters and lags for most sites even without facebook this time and of course, scaling still sucks (steam, chrome, spotify). I have exhausted all options so now I guess this is the end *sobs*. Even if it didn't turn out well for me, I thank you all for your suggestions and opinions! EDIT: I've decided to give this laptop to my little bro that would start his uni-applications this year. Hopefully he's not as picky as me when it comes to computers. Currently finalizing a deal with friend of mine to buy his 2016 MBP 13 inch non touchbar version for about $950. Hopefully I wouldn't be having the same problems I had with my old laptop.
  5. But really, even after 5-6 years, an old 2nd gen i5 could still run properly and on par with current machines.
  6. Good for you having a great Asus laptop! Gives me assurance that my laptop still has a chance. I'll try updating all the drivers and fiddling with some settings. After which I'll try reinstall windows if none of them fixes my problems.
  7. I agree. I don't have any regrets tho since I knew the risks of switching. It just turned out to be a bad example of a windows computer lol
  8. I literally cannot understand what you're talking about. Corrupt windows?? lol
  9. I haven't tried a full reinstall yet. I might try it as a last resort once all options are exhausted.
  10. Latest Windows 10 Home edition. I forgot the build number tho
  11. So you assume I don't know how to disable startup apps, remove bloatware, and infect myself with a lot of viruses??? Not all forum newbies are idiots my friend. Also, reformatting every 1-2 years is very ineffecient. Why would you buy a laptop that needs to be reformatted just to get "maximum performance"???
  12. So how would installing an anti virus would help solve my problem then......
  13. Who says you can't reformat a Mac? I've done it a lot of times. Also, Windows Defender is enough. Haven't been infected ever since
  14. I don't want to sound like a Mac fanboy but I agree with you on that.
