  1. During Mondays stream where Artesian Builds held a giveaway while building PC's on twitch one of the giveaway winners was deemed not large enough for the giveaway. The CEO who was the one doing the giveaway talked about the stats for this user explaining how they have only 2k followers and that their "ambassador" link was never clicked and explaining this was the reasoning for them to forfeit the giveaway. The winner took to twitter where the Company now having alot of backlash from the community where even creators like JaysTwoCents (many more piling on) are talking about it.

"this is a two way street you scratch our backs we shine your shoes"

"We are the PC company if Linus Tech Tips would have started a PC Company"

    My thoughts

Obvious mistakes where made in how this was handled and whats worse it was said by the CEO of their company. If they wanted to do the giveaway to only their larger creators they should have made that clear from the start and limited the names to be what they wanted. They also based the giveaway on what their current setup is. They needed to write out the rules and not have it open to interpretation "giving away stuff for people who are not creating content". They did go over a few creators that didnt fit the criteria for the giveaway but it appears KiaPiaa is the one blowing up from this.

My understanding of the giveaway from the short excerpt on their stream Monday.

    1.They must be an "Ambassador".

    2.They must be producing content.

    3. Use their updated panel with a link to their website.

    4. must stream.

    5. communicate with their company.

They might have the full rules listed somewhere on their FB or website that makes this more clear.

If I missed anything its more than likely in the Reddit mega thread.

  2. If ads are non intrusive, no audio, auto video playing I dont mind as its how it supports X. If I go to a page and somewhere on my screen I find a video loaded blasting some random thing and I cant find it because its embedded into the site and im forced to scroll to find this thing thats playing full volume I will just turn on a ad blocker for that site. Youtube has been a hit and miss for video ads. I dont mind ads as I grew up on TV and have fond memories of the Oozanator by supersoaker (funny reference if anyone looks it up) but some ads are just straight up scams or should be illegal. I can go dig up screenshots of ads on my youtube showing how kids can make money by filling out info on websites. Or ads on how to make a million dollars by taking this random dudes course. Ads went from (more reputable but never 100%) places to almost anyone claiming to be a company can buy ad space.

Whats worse is its super hard to report ads being either a blatant scam (as seen with ads linking to youtube videos on how kids can make money by filling out their personal information on random websites) or less than reputable money schemes. Its super easy to watch videos of people get taken down by false claims than it is to report obviously fake ads.

I think people are just getting more and more annoyed by how intrusive and long ads have gotten more than anything. If ads where a bit easier on the eyes/ears/length more people wouldn't be finding ways around blocking them outright.

Where would you recommend I go to open the ticket?

I've contacted MSI, EA, Crytek, WB, and I havent had any luck. I did reach out to Easy AntiCheat directly, however I haven't heard back (I forgot to include this in the original post)

If you have advice on how to fix the problem, I'm all ears 🙂
Out of curiosity, can you load APEX with your RGB on (for your MSI boards)?

You would open a ticket with EA and Apex and communicate through them. I have never spoken with EA so I wouldn't know how good they support lines are. Best would be to get all the information ready. What software did it say was detected? Get a copy of the software and screenshots. Explain clearly to them that it might be a false positive and if they could investigate your account and show them that it could be the RGB software and if they have any recommendations to assist you.

Historically for me if I communicate with them calmly and explain what happened they usually investigate and if I show them screenshots of what it said I was X for and here is a copy and location to download the software https://www.msi.com/Landing/mystic-light-rgb-gaming-pc/ usually they listen and willing to work something out.

I have an MSI board and the drivers/software for it. That Dragon center or whatever I usually never have it running which controls my RGB with LEDKeeper background app. I have yet to see any issues as of yet. I cannot confirm or deny if the software is bannable or not as I am not EA and if they REALLY dont like LEDKeeper (maybe someone hates MSI there lol) they might now be banning for it. I havnt played Apex this week and wont be able to try until I am done work.

good luck and I hope to see you on the battlefield.

  4. weird I have never had issues with LEDKeeper2.exe on easy anticheat. I have played a few games and my MSI motherboards LEDKeeper software has never caused this (maybe something to watch out for?). I know most people hate the MSI software as its pretty bad as well as my gigabyte one (used for RTX 3080 LCD screen lol). Its usually used to try and find info on the game to sync the RGB with the game. This could be causing the false positive as long as you dont have anything spicy installed that makes it appear to be LEDKeeper. You might have to open a ticket and wait for the software to be deemed ok again. Usually alot of RGB software does this during updates and alike. My Bloody keyboard software technically got me a perma ban from wow when I had to open a ticket and get it escalated to a human and they basically said uninstall the bloody keyboard software and well unban you lol...

Well LTT doesn't have a Food Section... Yet? I wonder if I would end up consuming more calories due to enjoying more Fried Foods? No oils to buy nor dispose of after deep frying.

Fried foods will almost always be bad for the gut. Usually fried foods are covered in batter which adds alot of calories and its evaporating water and making it absorb more fats. I do love me some fries but cutting out fried food altogether and eating healthy is number 1. Though not always able to be done.

  6. Im going to guess this needs to be in off topic.... Also food will always be the main culprit with mens bellys. Usually the drinking causes people to eat unhealthy amounts or things that are not as healthy. Yes beer is also empty calories but its usually not as bad as some people think. Do stomach exercises and watch what you intake. Cut down on the amount you consume slowly to not feel the ol hunger pangs.

  7. Years ago I had someone come into my first IT job where I was working front lines - Lady comes in with a laptop that was left in her car overnight where it got frost due to it being below 32 degrees. Note that this laptop was 100% covered even if there was damage due to negligence or water it would be replaced 100% for another machine. So I was writting up her issue and when I send it to the techs I noted down that the water damage indicators were triggered so they can make sure they need to fix that. And the lady freaked out watching me write it down saying to not do that. I explained that the damage being there or not wouldnt affect price or anything as its 100% covered regardless and its better for them to replace anything even if there is only a bit of damage since its free anyways and its easy to replace those parts. She wanted nothing to do with it calling us a scam. It took 3 people explaining that due to her contract we are not charging her and regardless of the state of the device we fixing or replacing it and I was noting down what I had to since the water damage strips where showing to have water leak. Even after I got the device back she brought her husband to yell at us as we gave them a brand new machine with all their data transferred over since the original machine had extensive water damage to where the mainboard wasnt worth fixing and the cost of the board was the same as a new machine.

    Their issue: Screen not working.

Actual issue: Due to water damage on board nothing was working and screen did technically work.

Fix: Replaced entire device for free due to their contract.

Client: Yelling and being mad as we gave them a brand new machine....

  8. Alot of far reaching for saying "Unethical". There is no such thing as an unbias review or one that is 100% unbias would be poor since the person might know nothing about what they are reviewing. It is more if you trust the opinion of X person over Y person. LTT does a great job of clearly showing what is sponsored and what is a review.

Does LTT have videos that are 100% sponsored and given the product which has a complete "Review" in the title? I usually have my youtube time playing in the background while im working.

They might not have "bad" things to say this would be the old adage "If you dont have anything nice to say dont say anything at all". I am curious to know as most of their titles are mostly clickbait and unless its something that I specifically want to see I skip over these days as I am usually listening to my youtube while I work as background noise lol.

The only Ethics that I care about is if the reviewer didnt pay for it or the company sent them the products that they clearly state this. I Personally dont care if they got the product for free or not as the key points usually talked about are facts you can look up. Does it do X, Y, and Z? His talking about the WIFI at his house. Was there really a review saying we should go buy it as its a great product? He talked about how it does X, and Y with some key features that he used. To most people that setup is not only overkill but setting it up would be a nightmare as network stuff can be hard for even frontline IT workers. Most people will have the Modem box and a router with a few cables to their house. Maybe a cheap switch to break up the single cat 6 into multiple.

LTT has a video on a monitor (cannot find video and not going to search forever to find this example) where the company had some shady past. They addressed that for a good % of the video before even starting the "review" of the monitor. This is more than most reviewers put in and usually its a line or 2 in a many page ad ridden review page.

I dont see any problem with LTT keeping products that are not meant to be sent back or sent elsewhere. There is incentive for them to keep it as it could wind up in more videos or their actual work pc's. Wouldn't that be an even better review? If they not only talk about it on video but actually use it over another thing? This seems more petty being mad. Even at my company when we get a test of something alot of the time they dont bother wanting it back depending on what it is. Some things they send back and some dont bother as the cost to do all that work can add up and its usually on the side of the manufacturer to cover this cost not the person they want a review from.

IMO the biggest issue I have is something that cannot be fixed or done as I would rather see how a product holds up after X amount of time. Ya the cool new fold phone but how does it look after 2 years of use? Or lets say a monitor after a year and you get a stuck or dead pixel how is the RMA for the company like and will they even allow it for X amount of stuck pixels.

Watch multiple reviews from multiple sources. If your using LTT as a be all and wanting some weird 100% unbias everything paid for but never kept review thats just not possible.

  9. Check Overclock. When troubleshooting always use base numbers and turn off any overclocking done. You can check event logs to see if anything has been picked up depending on the issue it may or may not have logs showing what could be causing it.

Software for testing. CPU - Prime95, GPU - Furmark, memory - memtest86, HDD - HDtune.

When running tests run each separate as to single out what is causing the crashing.

    probably 120/130 easily

I am assuming your still meaning Fahrenheit. Computer parts commonly run much hotter than that during operation. The worst I can think of is plastic warping due to the heat or parts being shaken around due to the shipping container. I wont rule out that there is always a chance of something happening. I would focus more on parts shaking around in a container more than the temperature if its 90F.

Agree with most of what you said except this. We for example are already testing Win11, and have found no compatibility issues thus far (and we have some older than crap legacy oracle shit too). The current plan is to have all devices (approximately 3800 desktop/laptop) updated by end of 2022, with the first wave of rollouts happening Q1.

This depends greatly company to company I give you that. Alot of companies have software in departments that may not run well on newer OS. I have clients that run database software that uses CLI and was created in the early 90's. There was even a big push to get people onto Windows 10 and this was around 2 years after it was initially released and it was a giant project making sure EVERYTHING worked properly as any software slowdown or crashing can cost someone hours of work and this would stack up.

This is like my example your experience with a small sample size. I have clients running extremely old software that we had months to get some software to become compatible and usable with Windows 10 back in 2015-16. We have some clients that are very much up to date and some that run old Database CLI that is just a nightmare. It differs greatly depending on the company and the scale.

I've tried asking real professionals but I always get non-professionals answering

Depending on your use case I think this answer is different. If your looking at a enterprise level this answer is different than a home user as you can see with a few answers. I would say TPM is something Microsoft is counting on for a few things and this has people generating opinions on it. Regardless of someone's opinion Windows 11 right now will almost require a TPM chip on the motherboard.

If Im looking at a home user Windows 11 requiring a TPM chip creates alot more headaches then its worth as ALOT of people have older machines for 10 years back (years ago I worked for a repair shop and I would see pc's that originally ran W98 running windows 7 and they wanted windows 10 lol). This creates alot of weird issues for these people who dont understand computers.
If you look at the enterprise level this isnt as big of a deal as most will not upgrade to windows 11 for a long time as most software wont be compatible off the start. Most enterprise level machines have TPM chips and run bitlocker so this doesn't really affect this userbase that much as the end user isnt dealing with the issue and its up to the IT team to figure it out.

I think this thread kinda went into a spiral about people knowing or not knowing and credibility of a forum user. I wont say I 100% know about the issue and can only give my experience and if people believe me or not is up to them, I wont lose sleep over forum or users on the internet 🙂

  13. I wont go into my actual work but I work in IT in this area.

most machines I have run into for business have TPM as its common for enterprise machines. I wouldn't be updating to windows 11 anytime soon as its rare that bigger companies stay on the latest updates as it usually breaks software that ranges from new to database software from the early 90's.

The issue most have is for personal user machines as some hardware may not have the chips.

    Rate my PC

I like alot of it. Is there specific reasons to go 32GB ram quad channel over 32GB Duel was it Cost/speed that determined that? or just going 16? I am at work eating so I might have missed the full use case. 16GB is more than enough still for gaming plus a 2nd monitor for chrome/disc/etc. With going back to say motherboards I would ask someone "Are you going to use the features of that board?" If not "are you buying it for the looks?" Can we swap it out and save money on something like https://pcpartpicker.com/product/R6VG3C/gigabyte-b550-gaming-x-atx-am4-motherboard-b550-gaming-x?

  15. I cannot speak for everyone but im practical user and buyer. I use use a 10700k and 3080 but for other parts I make sure I will actually use the parts. I keep case small and cheaper as long as it holds what I want and I believe motherboards are the key to where people overspend. If your not going to use its features then you can save alot of money. Back when I worked in computer repair shop I had a client who had a $700 motherboard with an i5 and $300 gpu and I was like....Why? you dont even use all these ports or even overclock or do any power user work. I know this since I had to fix it multiple times and it was only for light gaming LOL.
