RyanMacRocks got a reaction from Shoob in 7950 or 7970
Update: I sent the guy with the 7970 an offer for $80, if he takes that I will definitely go with that. However, I already have the 7950 guy lined up to meet tomorrow, so unless I get a reply soon from the 7970 guy, I will be going with the 7950.
Btw, confirmed that the 7950 has not been used for mining, still not sure about the 7970.

what would be YOUR input on the topic then? can we ask...?
Reference 7970 for 105$ or third party cooler 7950 BOOST for 75$?
-
RyanMacRocks reacted to don_svetlio in 7950 or 7970
that 30$ is only 5% of the whole budget of the build though - Linus made the exact same error in SW3
-
RyanMacRocks got a reaction from don_svetlio in 7950 or 7970
Guys calm down, I understand both of your arguments. The 7950 Boost is slightly slower than the 7970 but is quieter and allows for better overclocks than the 7970. In the end I will be looking at around 10-30% better performance from the 7970 after overclocking the 7950. I am well aware of the performance differences and just wanted to see if you guys thought the extra performance benefit would be worth the extra money in such a budget build.
Btw, Linus was getting about 5-10 FPS difference between the 7950 Boost OC and 7970 ref.

7970 - the difference was a LOT bigger back then and it was still worth - 20fps is no joke

RyanMacRocks got a reaction from N64CUBE in Found a 480. What should I do with it?
Srlsy tho you could use it for Folding, sell it on eBay/Craigslist, or build an older gaming PC with something like a q6600.

RyanMacRocks got a reaction from FixedDevice in Why is this GPU so cheap right now...
Haha thanks m8, I will be ordering a new GPU soon so I could very well be ordering that one.
(Unless I find a super cheap used 7950/280)

RyanMacRocks reacted to LtStaffel in Found a 480. What should I do with it?
Give it to me.
I guess you could make a server and experiment with it or something

DO NOT GET THE 950 its not worth it. You are better of with a 380.

Sound like you don't really need a discreet gpu. The motherboard supports multiple monitor interfaces and will support up to 3 monitors.
The psu has sufficient capacity for a GTX 750 Ti or R9 380 gpu should a discreet gpu become necessary.

RyanMacRocks reacted to Senzelian in Desktop just suddenly closed. still no boot.
Time for troubleshooting...
Try to boot without the graphics card installed. Try one ram stick at a time and if non of them work try a different slot. Do you have another PSU to try out? -
RyanMacRocks got a reaction from Hotpeppa1 in My Build For The Near Furture!
I would get a R9 380 4 GB unless you are planning on using any exclusive Nvidea features.
-
RyanMacRocks reacted to Hotpeppa1 in My Build For The Near Furture!
If you are not overclocking, consider looking into a i5 4460 or a non-K intel cpu. And might wanna put in a SSD for important programs, OS etc.

RyanMacRocks got a reaction from das affe in Is this DDR3 Server Ram compatible?
No, you need non-ECC RAM.
