RyanMacRocks reacted to BarneyInMatrix in Planning Build
If you're gonna get a BEAST D15 cooler and a z97 motherboard, there should be no reason why not to get a 4690k and overclock it.

RyanMacRocks reacted to Stardar1 in Planning Build
swap that drive for a blue or black
drop that cooler and change to a 4460/H97 with a 980ti
OR

RyanMacRocks reacted to JamesHauge in Sorenson Squeeze
I thought so too till I started looking on amazon.com and I can get refurbished servers like I described for less then $500... here's an addon question, does gpu matter with Sorenson Squeeze? The server class computers I've looked at are all low end graphics like older Intel graphics which is great for a server, but I'm going to be using this for ftp as well as Sorenson Squeeze...
Thanks for the help!

RyanMacRocks got a reaction from Vozella in Buying tips for GPU?
Ok, quite possible, I wasn't calling him wrong, just wasn't sure. It's interesting to me that nvidea would make a 960 Ti, when they have the 970 to step up to if you need more performance. Guess its kind of like the 280x to 290 though. 750 Ti makes sense because it is still well below the price of a 760.

RyanMacRocks reacted to Vozella in Buying tips for GPU?
If you're going after the $200 range and you care more about fps than voltage, then take a look at the R9 380, or even the R9 380X for a little more.

I would recommend buying at least a 120GB SSD for you're boot drive! You can get them on sale for really cheap because of Cyber Monday!

Go with an i3 for most games.
If you are playing GTA V I would definitely recommend the extra 2 cores though.

RyanMacRocks reacted to TheKDub in Snowball vs. Yeti
This ^^^
I've got one, and have also seen the blue yeti in person, the yeti is fucking massive and ugly, whereas the at2020/at2020usb is compact and looks great.
The at2020 sounds a bit better than the yeti, and significantly better than the snowball, not to mention finding shock mounts and such for it is much much easier than it is for the blue yeti or snowball. (You pretty much have to use the ones sold by blue, which are massive as well)

RyanMacRocks reacted to Morgan MLGman in How will 2 r9 270x perform on pci 3 x16 and pci 2 x4?
PCI gen. 2 x4 can decrease performance by around 10% average, sometimes a bit more, sometimes a bit less. But it does bottleneck a card. The faster card is going to slow down to match the speed of the bottlenecked one. That's how it would look most likely.
Why would you crossfire such low-end cards? Sell those and get a single, more powerful card like the 390 for instance.

Unless you are using extremely close to the rated wattage, don't worry at all.

RyanMacRocks got a reaction from Shampod in 1080p or 768p Monitor for GTX-750ti?
Get a 1080p monitor unless you can find a 768p one for under $20. Don't downscale to 768p, but if you have to, downscale to 720p.
