  1. So where you able to install it successfully? Or are you stuck at installation issues now?
  2. Now where getting somewhere finally.. Few what a day man. 1. Try unselecting the USB boot priority and change it to HDD and see if you can BOOT fedora manually by mashing keys then retry install. Try installing from a CD or perhaps try the fedora light edition first, also try centos versions.
  3. Lol, thanks now I am getting the response instantly. Also, Good job! Now when you try to install Fedora or centOS make sure to tell BIOS to boot from that first. and not anything else. By changing the boot priority and retry the install. Edit about time.
  4. Reset the BIOS and posting computer specs would help a little.
  5. Uhh... IF you can feel an electrical current then you must live in a very dry place and you must have a carpet flooring or something. I would get a power strip that has a light indicating that it is indeed grounded because if it was it would not cause that. If your home electrical isn't grounded right I could see it being the issue...In which case you would have much bigger problems to deal with.
  6. Off topic but why is that this site doesn't show me when you updated or posted a new post unless I post a new post like wtf... Makes me unhappy because I edit posts a lot and can't see your response unless I post a new post like wtf is going on with this nonsense..?
  7. qerhqhetrhqerhg Did you make the USB a bootable device? Do you know how to make a USB a boot able device? Post like number 20... look at it.
  8. Ok... well you made sure to extract the BIOS before you put it on the flash drive right? Or did you leave it in the .zip format..?
  9. And did the update work? Actually in the last video it shows success on flashing... notice your BIOS ver changed. so it did work... It just auto installed it quickly.. Pause at 2:54 says update success. After BIOS was installed it auto rebooted like it was suppose to..

  12. 1. Did you see a BIOS protection jumper anywhere on the motherboard? 2. Change first boot device to flash drive 3. If you have any other flash drive like device unplug it during BIOS update. So this is your motherboard then yes? http://www.ascendtech.us/ecs-mcp61pm-am-dual-core-am2-motherboard_i_mb64ecsmcp61pma.aspx If so download that BIOS.
  13. That would help a lot.. or screen shots either one. Give me a look around at BIOS too if you can just in general. And did you see a BIOS protection jumper anywhere on the motherboard? Actually Back in the day before UEFI it was always like that...
  14. The AM version? Do you see it on that website?
  15. Updating the BIOS For you motherboard. You can download and install updated BIOS for this motherboard from the manufacturer’s Web site. Here http://www.ecsusa.com/ECSWebSite/Product/Product_Detail.aspx?DetailID=1006&CategoryID=1&MenuID=19&LanID=9 Install new BIOS as follows: 1 If your motherboard has a BIOS protection jumper, change the setting to allow BIOS flashing. (Note yours probably does look carefully 3 times might be hard to spot) 2 If your motherboard has an item called Firmware Write Protect in Advanced BIOS features, disable it. (Firmware Write Protect prevents BIOS from being overwritten.) 3 Prepare a bootable device or create a bootable system disk. (Refer to Windows online help for information on creating a bootable system disk.) 4 Download the Flash Utility and new BIOS file from the manufacturer’s Web site. Copy these files to the bootable device. (NOTE when you download the BIOS it already included the utility in your case.) 5 Turn off your computer and insert the bootable device in your computer. (You might need to run the Setup Utility and change the the boot priority items on the Advanced BIOS Features Setup page, to force your computer to boot from the bootable device first.) 6 At the C:\ or A:\ prompt, type the Flash Utility program name and the file name of the new BIOS and then press <Enter>. Example: AFUDOS.EXE 040706.ROM 7 When the installation is complete, remove the bootable device from the computer and restart your computer. If your motherboard has a Flash BIOS jumper, reset the jumper to protect the newly installed BIOS from being overwritten. The computer will restart automatically.
  16. So when you tried updating the BIOS did you try doing using a flash drive? Over internet wont work... Edit is this your motherboard? http://www.ecsusa.com/ECSWebSite/Product/Product_Detail.aspx?DetailID=1006&CategoryID=1&MenuID=19&LanID=9 This is not a asrock motherboard... Download latest driver and try again. with the link i just gave u. (NOTE this is why people get angry you say you have an Asrock motherboard and really you had something totally different...) Lol EDIT AGAIN: Here is how to update your BIOS. http://download.ecs.com.tw/dlfileecs/manual/mb/p4/MCP61M-M3/MCP61M-M3_manual.pdf CHAPTER 3 PAGE 44. If you need me to help you update BIOS please post some photo's of it so I can see what I am dealing with or call me at 1-509-948-9909 This is my cell phone unlimited everything I am in washington so not a big deal for me.. EDIT LIKE 6: The utility that it speaks of is in the BIOS driver that you download already..
  17. Whats the model number on the motherboard? If you open it up it will say like Asrock FM2 A88x extreme 6 or something like that right on the motherboard. Usually above the first GPU slot or at the bottom area of motherboard.
  18. Edit again... Ok so lets start with getting a distro any to run on your PC and we will go from their. Where you able to get the light edition of fedora to run? or any of the other suggestions?
  19. Try updating the BIOS http://us.gateway.com/gw/en/US/content/drivers-downloadsclick desktops, GT series, GT5656 Then click on bios and download their is only 1 bios download so hopefully its newer than what you have. Doesn't look like their was any linux drivers for it either.. Edit: What do you mean? "fedora or CentOS since the Virtualization software only supports those two operating systems?" What software? Actually most of the linux distros will run virtualization software as long as the hardware supports it opensuse, linux mint can do it and I know ubuntu can. What software are you planning on using?
  20. Edit link broke here is a new one for specs http://www.engadget.com/products/gateway/gt5656/specs/ Ok well acording to what I found it has a nvidia GPU in it. And we all know linux OS's in general have issues with GPU's. So I recommend you try adding the linux driver to the OS and then retry the install. http://www.nvidia.com/Download/driverResults.aspx/69366/en-usI recommend this driver for your case. And yes this PC supports 64bit. I would also try fedora light edition / LXDE - fedora is what it is called. If install still isn't working correctly. If you can't get that to work either try this linux version just as is and see if it works (it should) http://www.pclinuxos.com/get-pclinuxos/ If this linux version works then it probably is an issue with support for your hardware in which case you need to find a linux distro that supports it better. Edit http://distrowatch.com/here is a site that has all the different linux os's I recommend having a look on their to see what might work for you.
  21. Whats the specs? And fedora may not support your hardware. Or might need to patch fedora depends on hardware. Edit: Have you tired a different OS? Like Linux mint or Ubuntu just as a test?
  22. You need ram installed on the motherboard for it to post. And if it wont post then it's either a motherboard issue a ram issue or a CPU issue. (that is if you have tried 2 PSUs..) And if those PSU's are not 80+ bronze cert at least then I will tell you to get one that is then get back to us.. Anything that's not at least a 80+ bronze certified power supply is not reliable period. http://www.superbiiz.com/detail.php?p=PS-TR-600&c=fr&pid=fd0e112e8d5235035b27fc5f264b3f5cc2a20217189dedbfb228495907191a71&gclid=CjwKEAjw2ImsBRCnjq70n_amv14SJAChXijN5v_j0eDsapKk0506SsDLQb9ZLgRJKTVXMZoJ-tdk7BoCNZPw_wcB Here is a 600wat PSU 80+ bronze cert for 50$ If you looking for one..
  23. https://support.steampowered.com/kb_article.php?ref=7710-tdlc-0426This is what steam recommends.. Edit: Unless you want to keep some games on your main drive then due what Sors said in the above post. Except make a new folder in your second drive and name it like games or steam games. So that it doesn't just install them right on the drive. Keeps it clean that way.
