  1. Yeah, the PSU powers on, the fan spins for a second and then cuts out. If that's the case, is there an easy way to tell what it is? I don't have another motherboard or cpu to test with.
  2. After working perfectly fine yesterday, I turned on my pc today and it seemed to post normally except I had no display. After turning off and checking my HDMI cable I started it again, all fans and lights turned on for a split second and then turned off. I'm using: [i7 8700k (overclocked to 5.0ghz), asrock fatal1ty z370 itx mobo, evga gtx 960, 1000w bronze cooler master psu, 2x8gb corsair vengeance lpx ddr4, samsung 850 evo, toshiba 7200rpm hdd, windows 10 education]. Since then, every time I startup my pc, it turns on for only a split second before turning off. Will I need to rma my motherboard/CPU? Or is there a solution that I'm not seeing? The only old part in my build is the PSU which I got used and I think is over 4 years old, everything else is relatively new, my main concern is whether the old psu has damaged the mobo. What I've tried: (No change whatsoever after each) - Removing all expansion cards and peripherals - Clearing CMOS - No damaged capacitors - Double checked 24 pin and 8 pin connectors - No obvious shorts - Took motherboard out of case - Tried different RAM, PSU, CPU fan - No bent socket pins or burnt cpu contacts - Reseated CPU and RAM Hopefully there's something I'm missing, is there anything else to check? Also is there any way an old PSU could damage components even when the computer is turned off and surge protected? Any help is appreciated.
  3. The card runs at 43C idle, max 75C under load. My board only has one x16 pcie slot, but I'll try other cables or in a friend's computer. Might try underclocking as well if that doesn't work.
  4. My EVGA GTX 970 is about 3 years old, no overclocks or anything. I can run Heaven at max settings for several hours without a single issue, but when I multitask on the card, or navigate windows normally, the card fragments the screen off and on, and occasionally blue screens. I tried flashing the bios to a newer version, but the issue prevails. Sometimes the fragments are small, sometimes they take the whole screen. Any idea what could be causing it? Or is my card dead? UPDATE: I've tried DVI, VGA, and HDMI, all have the same issues. It seems I can run benchmarks/game on it fine, but as soon as I try to multitask with windows, it either crashes or fragments. I've also found a new type of fragmenting that it did.
  5. Just curious whether thunderbolt 3 would ever be a viable alternative to SATA for motherboards. The only reasons why I can imagine it wouldn't be are: 1. Isn't compatible with motherboards (which doesn't make sense to me seeing as you can boot from flash) 2. Storage wouldn't take advantage of it. 3. It's too expensive.
  6. I love how slick the keyboard is. That thing is so damn sexy.
  7. Download went perfectly smoothly with their manual installer. No data lost, windows is completely activated.
  8. I downloaded the manual update tool from their website, it says it doesn't support win 10 preview, but I'm going to give it a shot anyway.
  9. Is there no way to download win 10 and keep my data?
  10. Apparently windows 10 preview is not a win 10 beta as I had assumed. If anyone knows how to upgrade to windows 10 RTM without clean install, that would be much appreciated.
  11. Is it possible that I could need to flash my bios or install a driver from toshiba? I have a 250gb ssd connected as my boot drive which works fine.
  12. It isn't showing up in disk management, and I don't have another pc to test it on.
  13. I bought and installed a 2tb toshiba drive but it isn't showing up in my computer or device manager. It is however recognized in the BIOS. I am running windows 10 technical preview x64. Do I need to partition it or something? Any help is much appreciated!
  14. I simply went to the last driver, and now everything is running perfectly. Thanks again! I can keep my shady programs :3
