  1. Are there any other reasons for using Windows on a day to day basis? With Linux, you have better performance, because it is not bloated and does not need anti-virus. It has free software apps, which are more reliable and lightweight. You can customize the user interface. Unless the app is very recent, if it is useful, it will work on wine.
  2. I want to use an Android PC as desktop. It is kitkat. Everything is fine, except for the keyboard when I type in web browsers and text editors. There are many things that do not work: capitalization with shift+key, moving the cursor with arrows , common shortcuts (ctrl+C, ctrl+V, ctrl+Z). What can I do for making the keyboard like a PC keyboard? Thanks.
  3. Hello. I have an external HDD, but I have a problem with permissions of the file system. I want it to be like a USB drive, in which I store and retrieve files in any computers without worrying about permissions. Can I disable the permissions permanently? I used 'chmod 777 .' in the root directory, but whenever I insert a new folder, the contents of the folder will be read-only in other computers.
  4. Any model as long as it is small and supports the components I want. I want to be able to use 6 USB devices with the PC. I still do not have the components. I do not have details about the HDD. Thanks. I think they are fine. Because it is cheap, small and power-efficient. GTX 750ti is small and gets enough power from the PCI-Express slot rather than directly from the PSU. GTX 750ti runs everything I want since I am okay with tolerable graphics instead of wonderful graphics.
  5. Hello. I would like to have a good small computer. I want to keep it for a long time, so I need good durability. I want a silent PC, but I have to prevent it from overheating. I think I can use mini-ITX, but I do not know if all components will fit into it. The components I will have inside the case are: Mobo and PSU (the model does not matter) Core i5 6500 Skylake 16 GB RAM Geforce GTX 750 ti - A graphics card that does not require a wire from the power supply unit. 1 HDD 1 SSD A second SSD - only if it still has enough space. 6 USB ports. If mini-ITX is too small, what is the smallest option? Thanks.
  6. Hello. My laptop is broken and I want to get a monitor for my new PC. I want a monitor that has some quality, size of at most 22 inch or smaller, resolution of 960p~1080p and audio output. Most monitors do not have audio output even though they have HDMI. Many pages do not inform if the monitor has audio, so I cannot buy it without knowing if it has audio. I would buy a TV, but it is more expensive than a monitor (30% more expensive).
  7. I compared two cellphones whose screen is 1280x720. In the phone that lacks physical buttons, there is a black bar on the screen. In the other phone, the apps use the entire 1280x720 screen.
  8. I want to buy a smartphone and I have to decide if I will require physical home buttons. I do not know if the smartphone will be good without physical buttons. In my opinion, physical buttons are good because I get a bigger screen area instead of a black bar occupying space in the screen. It seems that Samsung is the only manufacturer that puts physical home buttons in smartphones.
  9. Specifications: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/GeForce_900_series http://hexus.net/tech/reviews/graphics/85553-asus-geforce-gtx-950-strix-direct-cu-ii-oc/ Comparing Processing Power, TDP and efficiency GTX 750 Ti: 1306 gflops, 60 watts - 21.76 gflops/watt GTX 960: 2308 gflops, 120 watts - 19.23 gflops/watt GTX 950 (first source): 1572 gflops, 90 watts - 17.46 gflops/watt GTX 950 (second source): 1825 gflops, 90 watts - 20.27 gflops/watt 1572 gflops is not enough for the current generation. If GTX 950 is really weak, it will be a shame because both GTX 750 and GTX 960, which are older, are more efficient than it. I believe it is 1825 gflops. If that is true, then I will buy it.
  10. Intel Compute Stick is expensive here, I can find cheaper ordinary PC. Raspberry Pi seems the best option, but they sell the board alone.
  11. I would like to know the cheapest computer that I can buy and is not second-hand. Small size is better. There are Intel Atom boards and Android devices for TV, but I do not know them well. I prefer Linux devices (usually X86), but an Android option is okay if it is cheaper. I do not want to rely on battery, because I can use power cable. It will be used mainly for watching things on the TV of the living room. It includes Netflix, Youtube, mp4/mkv/avi videos and any web-based thing. It will be used during many hours a day, so it cannot get heat.
  12. I have a Galaxy Note 10.1 and I have installed a newer Android version. Original version, 4.1 http://cdn.theunlockr.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/01/Root-Samsung-Galaxy-Note-10-1-Verizon.jpg Updated version, 4.4 http://androidnews.co.in/wp-content/uploads/2014/04/attachment.php_-1024x601.jpg In the new version, there is an upper bar and a lower bar two bars, but in the original version both bars are merged into the lower bar. The old version is more efficient because it occupies less space and I have a larger area for apps. I would like to know how to merge the two bars into one or restore the old UI. Thanks.
  13. Thanks for the response. Geforce 9600 does everything I need for now. If Intel HD 4600 can replace Geforce 9600, I will dispose of 9600.
  14. A card of the last generation that can run games like Skyrim would solve most of my problems. I will forget the new generation for now. Core i7 has Intel HD 4600, which is 350 Mhz and 1200 MHz with turbo. That means 112 to 384 gflops. Since 350 Mhz is terrible, it will need to use the turbo resource. Will the turbo option for graphics slow down the CPU? The power of the CPU is 84 W, how much additional power will it need to run graphics-demanding apps? Will that worsen the durability of the CPU? Another question, is Intel implementation of OpenGL good? I know that AMD's is terrible. I have dual boot with Linux and I have many applications that need good OpenGL implementation and are CPU-demanding. Thanks.
