...in which case, why would you even bother with hardware that can't run windows 10 properly?
I find it so funny how we always get these types every windows release cycle... people were crying and gnashing their teeth about moving from 7 to 10 and now it's all magically forgotten because people are now used to 10 instead. I doubt many of those who "switched" to linux specifically to avoid updating to 10 lasted more than a month or two and I doubt they will last any longer this time.

A used SAS card will be 30-40 bucks... a 3 TB brand new is not much more then that. It just isn't worth the hassle to deal with all of that, nor the extra cost, just to try and use an excessively cheap harddrive.

46 bucks and you can have a brand new 3 TB drive, its only 5400 RPM but that is likely fine:

It should work but I would honestly return the disk instead. Adding a PCIE card to your system can be detrimental to performance of other components like graphics card.

Also, HDR 400 isn't worth it. I'd keep it disabled

You think not providing warrantee's is forward thinking?  Last time I checked his employees can handle the warrantee's in the unlikely event of his death and Yvonne doesn't want to deal with the company.
I agree, his company is very good about exchanging or replacing items.  That doesn't change the fact his excuse was stupid.  Linus could have stopped at "It's company policy to just handle any issues regarding items from our store."  With the implication "handle" means we'll take care of our customers.  But no, he kept talking and said something completely nonsensical.

Kind of hilarious seeing people rationalize the idea of a backpack (or most any other product) not having a warranty.

He's basically informing you that he's not confident in the long-term durability of the product and forgoing a basic consumer protection that literally every other manufacturer provides.

Yeah, plus all the taxes involved, doubling the price on some cases.

The price for the backpack itself it's not the issue because high end backpacks can cost around the same and Creative Warehouse is still a small company to be able to order enough factory allocation to have greater bulk discounts, I'd say.

I'm not upset with anything though, but it ends being far too expensive to make sense for me. Same for other stuff from LTT Store. I'd love to get a a mouse pad, but after taxes and imports the cost just doesn't make sense to me.

I asked Linus once on the Wan pre-show. He put on (sequestered for a few minutes xD) Yvonne and they talked about on how they didn't want to get involved in that kind of work and specially meddle with other tax systems.

Which is a shame, really. I'd buy lot's of stuff from them, if it didn't get crazily expensive. Some stuff doubles the cost.

They should open a proxy store somewhere in eu, this would reduce costs and shipping, there stuff is great but is so expensive in the eu it is not worth buying. I am not paying over 400euros for backpack. Plus opening even a warehouse in eu would make them able to access sooo many new customers....

bejamartins reacted to Bombastinator in Are these light rectangles normal / should I be worried?
They might just be reflections of a window.  There are a few different ways backlight is generated. One of them though is active zone stuff which is used to get better blacks but sometimes produces “halos”. If the machine has that sort of backlight it could be that your zones are uneven for some reason.

bejamartins reacted to Stahlmann in I was looking for a decent bang for buck TV with high refresh rate (120hz throughput at least), any recomendations?
At this price you'll essentially have to choose between decent HDR OR 120Hz. The combination of the two is currently limited to mid-range to higher end TV's typically more around $800 and up.

The lowest priced model that comes to mind right now and supports both 120Hz and good HDR is the Hisense U8G, which sits around $750 during black friday sales.

tmk there are no actual 120hz cheapo tv's like that. only "120hz" crappy frame blending tv's.

Your system, like mine (Core i7 930, 6GB of RAM, GeForce 680, SSD), is completely unsupported by Microsoft when it runs Windows 11, and all hardware manufactures (beside your GPU, in your case). We get what we get. Simple as that. Data loss, crashing, BSOD, failing to update, and all that good stuff, by installing Windows 11, we agree that, well, we are willing to live with it.

In my case, my PC is not used for work or anything valuable. I also have a fairly strong backup solution for a home system, I think.
In fact, it runs Windows 11 Insider Builds - Dev channel. My setup allows quick recovery from failure. Yes, I had to do re-installs with Windows 11 on it due to failures on this particular system. Other system experience no issues, and been smooth experience since.

My work PC still runs on Windows 10. It will eventually be upgraded to Windows 11, but work system can't experience any down time, for me. So it follows a the polar opposite policy of my non-work PC 🙂

Windows 10 is supported until end of 2025, I would recommend to stay there. Also, the Core i7 900 series has horrible VBS performance.
So if you use WSL or WSA, well, VBS is forced enabled, no way to disable it and get those running, and performance tanks. Maybe your 6-core CPU won't be as bad as my quad core and might still be OK, but form me, it really falls down, a lot more than reviewers were showing with modern support systems. I can still game, but the experience is notably less responsive when using the system.

this a case of someone with buyed games on origin and why origin/EA might not be the best platform. and if the same or similar happened here.
if this helps at all or to know what happened. and not sure if it can be similar to a clean up by EA/origin on low/bot accounts, and making mistakes.

I'll try to talk to them again but doubt it'll change much. They probably wiped her out of the database as a cleanup as @LogicalDrmsaid. Maybe if we're lucky they can add the On The House games again but I'd be surprised, considering there's no way to prove what games were added to the old account.

I had two similar cases to your with Kinguin but with Steam codes. Steam on both times gave the exact date when they were redeemed. I avoid Kinguin these days because of that. On both times happened with reputable sellers. And between the hassle of waiting an answer from Steam and the refund process I end up prefer paying a little more somewhere else.

This is the key point. If you don't spend any money, there's no reason for account to exist. It was most likely cleaned as part of cleaning out spam bots, scammer etc. which are created, but don't actually do anything.

Same thing is why Valve requires you to spend money on Steam to access some features. So to counter that in future, pay $5 for anything and they won't do anything. Even if you don't log-in in years or spend more money. Just how my Origin account works. I have spent like €100 on it, but not used it or bought anything in 3 years. But since I have paid at some point and not violated any ToC, they have no reason or right to kick me out.

I would contact EA support again.
I had this situation a few years ago where I bought a key (Dead Space 3) for a friend from a grey-market site (at that time I really didn't feel like rewarding EA for shutting down Visceral Games) and the key was already activated (who would have thought heh, avoid gameflip.com btw).
Anyhow I needed a little bit of evidence to start my dispute and get my money back, 1st support person wasn't helpful at all and even closed the live chat on me... I waited 15 minutes and tried again, got a different support agent and got exactly what I needed:
Be polite, be truthful and try a few more times with different support agents, you might get lucky as I did (they didn't have to tell me anything). If it works out - great, if it doesn't - it won't waste too much of your time.
