  1. Since Windows 11 was released I noticed that if forced installed on machines with older CPUs games tend to freeze / crash (and corrupt the user directory for some reason). I don't know about AMD, but at least on 7th gen Intel processors, this doesn't occur. Does anyone know the technical reason for that?
  2. I ended up following your advice and submit a return request. The lower price was killing me but the hassle seems not worth it.
  3. Hey everyone. I bought a 3TB 7200 rpm Seagate hard drive on Amazon for a great price. It was listed as a SATA drive but it is in fact SAS when it arrived, but I know very little of it. If I buy a RAID controller in IT mode and plug in a PCIe on my desktop motherboard will it work? Do I need to do any configuration? Or do I need something else? Thank you for any help.
  4. https://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/benq-mobiuz-ex2510s No shop link, I'd be buying it from my employer. They can't return it anymore but it's sealed and within warranty (almost full extent). Retail price is €249,00
  5. I wasn't really looking for upgrade my monitor soon, although to be honest, I've kinda wished to have some minimum decent HDR. But I've been needing to get some speakers, since my 5.1 Logitech speaker went FUBAR roughly a year ago and refunded. I'm rocking right now an AOC C24G1 24 and the opportunity to buy the Mobiuz arrise. The monitor would be brand new, sealed and with warranty. Since the monitor has alledgedly greast sound incorporated, I though might as well. What do you guys think?
  6. Not twice as much, as end up being for many people. Linus talked about this Wan show how a warehouse in europe would increase prices too, but the cut down in shipping and double taxation (that is undue, as he said, but still happens), but in the end, the end price would still make up for it, else, other companies wouldn't do it. The thing is, like he said, Canadian store already liquidates the inventory they have and he discussed it before how he has been having cash flow problems to order more inventory, so the insentive to increase sales isn't there.
  7. Yeah, plus all the taxes involved, doubling the price on some cases. The price for the backpack itself it's not the issue because high end backpacks can cost around the same and Creative Warehouse is still a small company to be able to order enough factory allocation to have greater bulk discounts, I'd say. I'm not upset with anything though, but it ends being far too expensive to make sense for me. Same for other stuff from LTT Store. I'd love to get a a mouse pad, but after taxes and imports the cost just doesn't make sense to me. PS:
  8. I asked Linus once on the Wan pre-show. He put on (sequestered for a few minutes xD) Yvonne and they talked about on how they didn't want to get involved in that kind of work and specially meddle with other tax systems. Which is a shame, really. I'd buy lot's of stuff from them, if it didn't get crazily expensive. Some stuff doubles the cost.
  9. Sorry for the late reply, haven't been here in a while. PS2: I actually have a SATA adapter to mount on my phat PS2. Not exactly a mod, PSP: Not yet, but there are some IPS screen kids I want to try out. I have a white PSP console with a faulty screen that's the perfect candidate.
  10. Since it was hinted on the last Wan show a possible future interest of LTT / Labs, I was wondering if more people here are into this. Please share your projects if you have them. Here is my own retro console modding pr0n so far: IPS screens and shell replacements on handhelds: Game Gear: Gameboy Color: Gameboy Advance: Home consoles: Nintendo 64: Home consoles (non aesthetic): Sega Mega Drive model 1: PAÇ version with switchless region / frequency mod; Sega Saturn: Japanse model 2 with CD drive replaced with an ODE (Fenrir); Sega Dreamcast: GD-rom drive replaced with and ODE (GDEmu); XBox (original): HDD replaced with a SATA drive, output with a custom XOSVP component cable;
  11. I see, thank you. TV's are one of those things where product identification is a headache. I ended up finding an LG C1 on sale.
  12. I got handed down LG Gram from 2018(?). And I notice these two light rectangles around the middle of the screen: Are these normal or some kind of burn in of sorts? They are more noticeable the lighter the color on the display. Thank you.
  13. Hi everyone, I've been looking at U8G and it eems to me I can get a U8QF for a more reduced price. The spec sheet seem pretty simillar, what are the differences? Is U8G worth paying a bit more? Thank you.
  14. Yeah, mine is technically 120hz if I enable interpolation. What would you say it's the first ones worthy? Anything I should pray for a Black Friday deal?
  15. Preferably 4k and HDR. Anything below or around €500? Or I'd have to aim higher? Thank you.
  16. Like I said in my first post, I have my machines dual boot with Windows 11 and 10. I didn't went head first into 11, I'm keeping 10 in another disk for compatibility. I'm only trying to make it work where I can. I so far didn't experience any other slowdown or crash in other scenarios outside games. It's just games that freeze and crash. Also one thing I noticed, games seem to more stable if I run them in windowed mode. VBS says "not enabled" in System Information in my machines, btw. I read on another forum meanwhile that someone had similar symptoms and bypassed them by going to NVidea panel and changing the lockscreen executable to be run with integrated graphics. In my case, I think only the E8400 has integrated graphics (aside the laptop that doesn't have a dedicated GPU). I gonna test it tomorrow and see if it does anything.
  17. Souldn't I even ever attempt to make things work then? One would thought that tinkering would be accepted in a tech forum like this.
  18. I've installed Windows 11 in dual boot in a few machines now. For some reason, it freezes and crashes games on most of them. I can fined no relevant log on why. The machines I see these crashes are: - i7 960, GTX 1080Ti, 10GB DDR3; - Core 2 Duo E8400, GTX 750Ti, 8GB DDR3, - HP ProBook 450 G3; - Athlon x4 870k, GTX970, 8GB DDR3 Almost every game I test crashes, but I've installed Final Fantasy X Remastered and Sonic Adventure 2 in all of them to have common games to test. Does anyone have any idea what could cause this. Is there a Windows 11 feature known to cause this and if so can it be disabled? I googled around but don't seem to find anything relevant. If not, any ideas where to look?
  19. More transistors packed per meant an increase in the order you don't have anywhere near now. It's not the only metric but meant most. https://www.researchgate.net/figure/Growth-in-processor-performance-over-40-years-HP11_fig3_340682076 Depending on how you measure performance, the growth is well under 10%, even 5%. Even if you had a boost like the i9 11900k it's not the trend and still way far from the over 50% increased you used to have in the past. Either way, and again, even if I upgrade my gaming rig, the performance in the rest of the machines aren't required an increase in any way so far. Everyday tasks are perfectly doable in decade old processors. Hell, I even play AC Valhalla on my 12yo i7 processor maxed out with a simple overclock in an 1080p monitor. And the overwhelming majority of Windows users don't even play. They use their computers to browse the web, work on office documents and little more. The only upgrade my dad needed in his working laptop for the past decade was an SSD and replacing the battery.
  20. This sounds simillar to the problem I have still to this day with AC Valhalla: Works great with my i7 960 and my GTX 1080Ti, but after a while playing in my i7 7700k and RTX 3090, it slows down to well bellow 30fps, no matter what settings and the only way to get back to decent FPS (for a short bit) is to reinstall the GPU drivers. Try to test that: reinstall the drivers and see if yuou recover frames, even if for a short while.
  21. This is scary. Unlike my girlfriend, I do have money spent on Origin. I buy everything on Steam when I can but for a while there you could only buy EA stuff on Origin. That is just poor user management. My Steam account is very old and in the begining I had many years where I didn't login even. Once a friend of mine sent me a screenshot saying that I hadn't been online for 666 days. Only after I came out of university and got I job I started spending money on it. That is a big contrast.
  22. I'll try to talk to them again but doubt it'll change much. They probably wiped her out of the database as a cleanup as @LogicalDrmsaid. Maybe if we're lucky they can add the On The House games again but I'd be surprised, considering there's no way to prove what games were added to the old account. I had two similar cases to your with Kinguin but with Steam codes. Steam on both times gave the exact date when they were redeemed. I avoid Kinguin these days because of that. On both times happened with reputable sellers. And between the hassle of waiting an answer from Steam and the refund process I end up prefer paying a little more somewhere else.
  23. Thank you for unlocking the thread. That makes sense, though they deny it ofc. She did have play time on the account though. I gave her a code from Amazon Prime Gaming, but I guess it won't hurt much just to buy something from the store as well in prevention. I'll just copy here what I sent you in PM earlier for discussion sake.
