  1. Hello. I'm a bit new and inexperienced with all things networking. I wanted to set-up an FTP server and have it be accessed from various devices in my network. I'm having trouble with accessing the FTP server through 2 routers. To illustrate, my network looks something like this: In this diagram: FTP server is set-up and running on PC1. After tweaking some FW and port forwarding rules I managed to gain access to the FTP server from PC2, PC3 and Phone1. But I'm having trouble with access from PC4, PC5 and Phone2. What would need to be done in order to access FTP server from Router2's devices? I tried some port forwarding but was unsuccessful and also for this case I'm having trouble understanding what needs to forwarded to where. Some trivia: Router 1 is a generic ISP router with WIFI (Alcatel I-240W-A) Router 2 is a different router with WIFI (Huawei WA8021V5) Why use two. Because Router1 is the one that's connected to the internet, but only has 2,4GHz wifi. But Router2 has 5GHz wifi. They both came from my ISP and (I assume) to some extent, are configured remotely/automatically, because internet access worked out-the-of-box. That said, I have access to settings for both and can change various things like port-forwarding, DDNS, wifi ssids, etc. Any help/tips would be appreciated.
  2. This, kind of sounds like a CPU issue. My first instincts tell me Cables->PSU->CPU->Mobo Since you already bought a new PSU, I would try a different CPU.
  3. Hi, everyone. I need a bit of help/advice. My PC started acting weird recently. When I try to run a 3D game or any kind of 3D graphical load, after few seconds PC suddenly freezes, screen becomes a random solid color (different each time) and nothing further happens. No BSOD, no shutdowns, no automatic restarts, just a solid color screen and a frozen PC. Sound stutters and gives out in couple of seconds after that. Then a hard restart is needed. It's always consistently like this, the only random part is the color I get on the screen. 2D desktop environment is working fine, I only have this issue when trying to play 3D games or running benchmarks. My current hunch is that the GPU is to blame. I have a GTX 980Ti graphics card. For other specs, see the link below. Few things I've tried: Reinstalling GPU drivers - still freezes Cleaning and re-seating the GPU - still freezes Installed log-based temperature measurement software - GPU temps seem fine (max before crash was around 68°C, but generally it's around 60, when it freezes) Tried running 3D Mark and Passmark benchmarks - both cause the same freeze at the point of 3D graphics Tried AIDA64 stress test - no freezes Tried rendering in blender (with GPU Compute) - no freezes The freeze can be most reliably caused at 4K resolution and applying 3D graphical load. Games sort of run at lower resolutions, but they seem sluggish and frame rate is much lower than it's supposed to be with this card (and as opposed to how it was before). There are no unusual smells or sounds coming form the GPU or PC. I considered other possible faulty parts: PSU - wouldn't the freeze/crash effects be random then? And also when doing high-powered CPU tasks? Currently PC only freezes to solid color screen and only when doing 3D loads, and it never restarts on it's own. Motherborad - everything else seems to be working fine, afaik. RAM - same as PSU - wouldn't the freeze/crash effects be random then? Another weird idea I got is to try a different monitor cable. But since I don't have a spare, that'll have to wait. Also had an idea to try the GPU in a different machine, but since I don't have a spare PC, that too will have to wait. What do you think? Is it the GPU? Could it be something else? What else could I try? 4. Awesome reply, M.Yurizaki! Thank you! For now, I use Photoshop to work with large files (300mb ~ 1gb). At some point in the near future I plan to pick up video editing as well. So I was thinking a fast main working drive would be good.
  5. Hello! I'm thinking of upgrading my current PC with a new SSD for the system (boot) drive. I am currently considering getting the Samsung 960 PRO 512gb SSD. My main specs are as follows: CPU: i7 6700k MB: Asus Z170 Pro Gaming GPU: GTX 980 Ti RAM: DDR4, 3000MHz, 16Gb Storage: 2 x 128Gb SSD in Raid-0 as the current boot drive 2 x 320Gb HDD in Raid-0 1TB HDD 4TB HDD (yeah, I know that's a lot of drives.. XD) The main reason for upgrade is to increase the capacity of the system drive. And so, now that I am upgrading anyway, I might as well get a really fast drive as well. The questions I have are: 1. Does this motherboard support nvme standard drives? It has a M.2 slot, but I am unsure whether it supports nvme speeds. 2. Will I be able to use 960 Pro drive as my boot drive? 3. Will I be able to keep my 2x320Gb Raid-0 array? (Does the M.2 work when the bios Storage Type setting is set to RAID?) 4. I've heard, that m.2 uses up some number of PCIe lanes. So if i7-6700k has 16x lanes, and the gpu uses 16x lanes, should I be worried about something affecting the performance? Any ideas? Thanks in advance!
  6. OK. There has been some developments. Basically I tried to do everything in reverse: Shut down the pc, unplugged everything and plugged in only one DVI monitor in the presumably faulty port. And it worked! Then I added the 2nd DVI monitor. That worked too. And finally I plugged in the DP monitor. And it works now. But something else happened.. On one of the DVI monitors (it's always the same one, no matter in which DVI port it is plugged into) there are some green dots flickering during POST and windows logon. After logging in, everything is fine. No more green dots. So is this the monitor now or the graphics card? The thing that confuses me is that the green dots appear only on one monitor. And only during post/login. If I change the DVI ports, it is still the same monitor with the green dots.
  7. Hi. I am having some trouble with one of the DVI ports on my graphics card. After fiddling around with different port connections, it seems to have stopped working, i.e. there is no signal from the particular port. Other DVI port still works fine. I have Gigabyte GTX 980 Ti (fairly new, got it ~7 months ago), that features 2xDVI, 3xDP and 1xHDMI ports. I have 3 monitors: - Monitor A with DVI,HDMI and VGA ports - Monitor B with DVI and VGA ports - Monitor C with DisplayPort and HDMI ports. (it is crucial that I use DP for this one) Now to illustrate my problem, I’ll try to do a timeline of how my problem originated. 1) I had only monitors A and B. Both running on DVI fine. Everything is cool. 2) Got myself monitor C. Connected it via DisplayPort. All 3 monitors working good. 3) Decided to change up my workspace. Unplugged everything (incl. power, etc,). Rearranged my setup. 4) Found out that neither of the DVI cables I used before are long enough for the new setup. Ordered new cables. 5) Meanwhile plugged in Monitor C via DisplayPort and Monitor A via HDMI. Both monitors working fine. 6) Got one DVI cable. Plugged in Monitor B via DVI. All monitors working fine. 7) Found out that monitor A does not go into auto-sleep mode when PC is shut down. This seems to be HDMI related issue. 8) Got 2nd DVI cable. Plugged in Monitor A via DVI. No signal. 9) Tried both of the DVI cables with both DVI ports and monitors. In any configuration there is no signal from one of the DVI ports. From this I figure two possible explanations : a) One of the DVI ports somehow got broken. b) Some internal setting got changed in the graphics card because of the order I reconnected (at steps 5 and 6) the monitors and it disabled the 2nd DVI in favor for the DP or HDMI. Thing is I would like to use both DVI ports/cables. Because when using HDMI, I have to manually turn off monitor, when shutting down PC. Should explanation b be the case, is there any way to reset the graphics card? What do you think? Has anyone had a similar issue? Any suggestions, what else could I try and test?
  8. Update. Ok, so I literally just touched the cooler and I moved it a little bit (wiggled it in place). Then I ran some more Blender-render-tests. So now the max temperature I can reach is around 75~77°C. So I guess that is acceptable under heavy load. Thanks to all for replies!
  9. Yes, all fans are spinning. I tried different BIOS settings for their speeds. Does not really help. That is, they do speed up, but CPU still overheats. Ok, I will try reinstall the cooler, change the thermal compound, etc. As for the BIOS update, no, I haven't done that yet. Are you referring to the patch that fixes the Skylake freeze bug? (because that’s, kinda, not my particular problem). Is there a patch list/log somewhere, I could check and see if any of them have anything to do with thermal issues? Yes, I know about the PSU. Originally I was planning to use PSU from my old PC, but then I got a really good offer to sell said old PC in complete, working order. So I had to buy something new. Maybe, not the best choice, but I was reaching my budget limits at that point. Anyway, it works, does not have any coil-whine, so it seems fine, for now.
  10. Hello to all! I’ve recently bought and built myself a new PC featuring i7 6700k CPU. After it was completed I ran AIDA64 stability test to see if everything was ok. The Stability test ran well. CPU temps rose up to at 50-60°C max. So it seemed ok. Games ran well, everything was great. Now, fast-forward few months later. I tried doing some 3d modeling in Blender. While rendering a scene, the CPU temperature rose dramatically and actually reached the thermal throttling limit. Temps rose close up to 90°C. After the rendering load stopped, the temperature also dropped off quite rapidly. Note, that I can’t ever reach this point in AIDA64 stability test. I’m using Cooler Master Hyper T4 as my CPU cooler. I bought this also brand new together with the CPU and other parts. Could it be possible, that this cooler can’t handle the CPU heat output? Should I be looking at other (better?) air coolers? Or maybe AIO water loop (I’ve been thinking about Corsair Hydro Series H115i)? Any ideas? Current PC specs: CPU: i7 6700k MB: Asus Z170 PRO GAMING RAM: Corsair Vengeance, DDR4, 16GB, 3000Mhz GPU: Gigabyte, GTX 980 Ti PSU: Corsair CX750M Case: Corsair 780T CPU cooler: Cooler Master Hyper T4 Thanks for any input.
  11. Hello. I'm planing on upgrading my graphics card, so I'm looking at GTX 980ti or GTX 970. The problem is, that I'm unsure if my current system could handle any of those cards Currently I have: CPU: Phenom 2 x6 1090t, 3.2Ghz RAM: DDR3 16Gb Video: GTX 560ti HHD: 2x SSD Raid 0 Would it make sense to uprage the GPU? Would there be CPU bottlenecks if I switched out my current 560ti card for 970 or 980ti? Or should I simply save up and rebuild the entire system later?
