ingoi reacted to kirashi in Recommend me a good router
I second this router, or an R7000 from Netgear. Either way, be sure to replace the firmware with something like AdvancedTomato as soon as you receive it, since the features are a lot better and the QoS functionality will actually work properly. That being said, ASUS' routers are using a version of MerlinWRT (ASUS-WRT) already, so their factory firmware is probably the best out there and may not need replacing.
But before you buy a router, what issues are you having specifically? Range? Speed? Features? How big is your house? Is it 2 floors? 3? Does it have a basement? Do you need WiFi into the backyard? How many wired and wireless devices are connecting? Does everyone in the house want to stream Netflix at the same time?

I use an ASUS RT-AC68U (or some variant of it). Relatively similar in price if not cheaper, it has great coverage, and I've never had a problem with it (i.e., I haven't had to reset it to fix a network issue yet)

ingoi reacted to AntonChigurh in Are ergonomic chairs worth it? If so recommend me some
Exactly, you might wanna look at something less expensive. I don't know too much about ergonomic office chairs, seeing as I game in an overstuffed armchair ATM , but maybe you could get someone else to put in their two cents and give a recommendation. Perhaps @M. Yurizaki could help?
edit: For some reason, it won't let me tag Yurizaki. Help

OP, if you want some of the executive-style office chairs, try a look at this: http://www.staples.com/Flash-Furniture-LeatherSoft-Leather-Computer-and-Desk-Office-Chair-Fixed-Arms-Black-GO937MBKLEA-/product_201047
I've used Flash Furniture products before and they make pretty good stuff

I got a chair at Staples that worked fine for me.
All I can say is yes, a chair that is comfortable with some ergonomic features is worth it, especially if you sit down in it for much of your day. You don't need to spend a small fortune, but don't get a cheapo $20 office chair with no arm rests and a poor excuse for a backrest.
If anything, about $150-200 USD will get you pretty far.

Depends on what you're talking about. If you mean something like those overhyped DXRacers, no. If you mean an actual ergonomic chair that'll benefit you because you actually need it, then yes. As for ergonomic chairs, I believe the Herman Miller Aeron is kind of the gold standard, but that's like the Ferrari of chairs so you might want something less expensive.

I would say they are worth it if you spend tons of time in front of your PC.

ingoi reacted to Pendragon in Did I buy the wrong laptop ram?
I guess if Eurocom fucked it up. If the DDR4 slot was the 1 it shipped with Eurocom got a new shipment of these things. Ask Amazon for a refund and ask Eurocom for a reimbursement LOL.

ingoi reacted to Pendragon in Did I buy the wrong laptop ram?
Just send an aggressive email to Amazon. They sent me the wrong pair of QC25s and I told them I specifically paid for 1 day shipping to make it onto my plane tomorrow. They sent the package overnight and arrived in the morning before my plane ride with the shipping refunded. Amazon has exception customer service.
Speaking of which, I'm curious which model is your laptop. Cause Clevo makes two versions of these. 1 with DDR3L and 1 with DDR4. Eurocom could of easily gotten the DDR4 version and just fuck it not update the website.

Contact the seller and ask for a return with shipping paid for. They sent you the wrong product.

ingoi reacted to Pendragon in Question about upgrading laptop components
Hi again, it's DDR3L Sodimm.
https://www.amazon.ca/Kingston-HyperX-1600MHz-HX316LS9IBK2-16/dp/B00KQCOV5C/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1475785709&sr=8-3&keywords=ddr3l+sodimm
like mok mentioned. any 2.5in or M2. I would advise MLC or 3D-VNand TLC SSDs. Like 850 Evos.

ingoi reacted to m0k in Question about upgrading laptop components
ram has to be DDR3L as per the configurator
SSD / HDD can be anything 2.5inch, or M.2

http://www.eurocom.com/ec/configure(1,340,0)ec
Where are you ordering from? If you're ordering in Canada, Eurocom. Btw, if you upgrade on Eurocom configurator I will slap you. LOL. The prices there are just broken out of the box. Buy your own ram (and storage) and get a custom no ram (barebones) quote.

Read the edit. And yes I live in Canada and I'm familiar with laptops. Lemme say it again, DO NOT upgrade on Eurocom configurator. DYI it.

ingoi reacted to DatMageDoe in Recommend me a keyboard and a mouse
For keyboard, look at the Corsair K70, K65 (basically a K70 without the numpad), STRAFE, and pretty much anything made by Ducky. As for the mice, the Logitech G502, Razer DeathAdder, or Corsair M65.

ingoi reacted to JohnM0522 in Recommend me a keyboard and a mouse
i also highly recommend both the Logitech G502 for the mouse and the Corsair K70 for the keyboard. I use both of these and I can honestly say the G502 is the best mouse I've ever used and the K70 (I own it with Cherry MX blues) is a fantastc keyboard.

ingoi reacted to Jay917536 in Should I stay with my Sager NP7259 order or change?
Yes cancel, Within the next 2 weeks(my quess) most manufactors will be adding the 10 series gpus to the lineup. Also it is best because the performance jump between 9 and 10 is massive. Also 7th gen Intel CPUs sore coming out soon as well.
-
ingoi reacted to don_svetlio in Should I stay with my Sager NP7259 order or change?
Depends. The newer GPUs run extremely hot so a lot of laptops which got a spec bump now overheat massively. Be very careful what you buy.

ingoi reacted to D2ultima in Should I stay with my Sager NP7259 order or change?
What model is that? Is that the N155RF1? If so, then keep it. There won't be a better alternative for a longgg time in that price range/budget.

ingoi reacted to soup in Please help, what is this screwhead?
Are you sure those screws are meant to be removed (by a layman) ?
Can't really see what they are, using various bits and trying to turn them hasn't helped.
Although the same screw in mirror positions :-
1st photo looks like a screwed up head that you have tried jamming various bits in and hence screwed the head.
2nd photo it makes it look like some sort of lobed head (torx, tri lobe or similar)
Might be allens (hex sided)(if meant to be easily removable ).
Might be one of the many security bits which include everything from squares to tri lobes
Have a proper look with a torch and Magnifying glass see how many facets might tell you what you need or you could do the look and post the number of sides .
At least looks like there is no sort of pin in the screw so security bits with holes , seem to be, out of the question.

ingoi reacted to Hazy125 in Recommend me a HTML editor
Sublime Text or Atom. Atom has unmatched git support if your projects use it. Sublime text is quick and easy, not to mention sh*t loads of plugins. Sublime + SFTP plugin are my go to. Notepad++ is just ugly and the FTP plugins are meh from when I used to use it. Dreamweaver is awesome, it used to be my main driver, but there's just too much stuff I don't need... Like "design view"... Ew.
EDIT: Oh, and dreamweaver just fails and dies with anything other than a simple network set up, it just can't handle files well between my desktop, my testing servers, localhost server and home network server
