  1. I've been messing around with the settings in Speedfan and I've found a way to configure the pump speed so that it's always on 30% speed. Now I just need to find a way to control my last 3 case fans. I guess I will have to purchase a fan splitter then plug them all into the motherboard.
  2. Thanks for the reply, I've read somewhere that it may be possible to change the voltage of the pump in the BIOS settings to slower the speed and decrease volume.
  3. Thanks for the reply, So something such as a fan splitter like this: http://goo.gl/GM7axR This would allow me to control the fan speed of all 5 fans?
  4. Hi everyone, I'm looking to use Speedfan to configure my fan speeds so that my PC is near silent. Previous I had two case fans on the front, 1 on the back and a CPU fan. All 4 of these were 4-pin and connected to the motherboard so they were very easy to configure in Speedfan. Now that I've installed CPU watercooling and I have 5 case fans instead of 3, it's a little more complicated. As I don't have enough slots on my motherboard, I've had to purchase some hardware such as a NZXT Grid 10 Channel Fan Hub & Cable Management. Here is my current hardware: PSU: 650W EVGA Fully-modular Motherboard: Asus Maximus Ranger VII Watercooling: Raijintek Triton AIO Water Cooling Solution Fan adapter: NZXT Grid 10 Channel Fan Hub Case fans: Corsair Air Series AF120 Performance Edition High Airflow 120mm (x4) 4-pin Corsair Air Series AF140 Quiet Edition High Airflow 140mm (x1) 3-pin My setup at the moment is that I have two fans at the front of the case, both plugged into my motherboard. Two fans at the top attached to the radiator, both plugged into the NZXT grid. The last 140mm fan at the back that's also plugged into the NZXT. The NZXT is plugged into the PSU. Then all 3 case fans have 3 pin adapters for the NZXT as you can only plug in 3-pin. The CPU waterblock is plugged directly into the motherboard and is 3-pin. I want to be able to fully configure the speeds of all these fans including the water cooling. I'm a bit uncertain as apparently 3-pin fans you can't modify the speed. Or if they're plugged directly into the PSU instead of the motherboard this can't be done either. Is there a way for me to have all 5 fans including the CPU waterblock to have configurable speed? Thank you.
  5. Turns out that Windows 10 was corrupted. I installed Windows 10 on a USB stick. Booted up my PC and did a full repair. I got to keep my files but I had to restart Windows 10 which then fixed the problem. Thanks for the suggestions.
  6. Both my SSD and HDD are listed. Neither of them work. All the cables are connected I believe. It was all working before, it just stopped after I shut down the PC. It may be Windows 10 is corrupted. I will try and do a repair.
  7. Hi everyone, I installed a watercooling cpu block earlier today. Everything looked to be setup fine and it worked without any issues. After an hour the PC kept freezing for a second. I restarted my PC and it took 20 seconds to load rather than 7. I rebooted again but I held down the power button instead. Now I can't get past the startup screen. When I turn on the PC it shows the Republic of gamers logo, then shows a black screen with a flashing cursor as if it's loading, but nothing happens. When I installed my new waterblock, I turned on the PC and it started pumping, all the water went around the loop. I have speedfan installed, but at one point it said that my CPU went from 30 to 50 degrees within a few minutes, even though the water was pumping. Then suddenly it went down from 50 back to 30 within 10 seconds. So I'm uncertain whether there was an issue with the software or the CPU has overheated. Everything was working perfectly fine before. The only thing done is I replaced a CPU fan with watercooling and added an additional 2 fans for the radiator. Hardware: Motherboard - Asus maximus ranger VII SSD - Samsung 840 Evo HDD - uncertain OS - windows 10 I have my SSD as the primary boot. I'm uncertain what to do, I've been googling for hours such as: "Blank screen and flashing cursor" "How to boot in safe mode" "Unable to get past startup screen" I haven't found anything relevant. I want to boot up in safe mode but can't see how. Pressing f8 just shows my two hard drives, no safe mode. Booting from either causes the same issue. If I go to the bios I can't see an option in advanced or boot for safe mode. I'm uncertain what else to try. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
  8. Thanks for the reply, Looks good. I might swap the R5 to the NZXT case above to help bring back down the price. He can always upgrade that GPU in the future to a 970 if there isn't anything better. (He won't be able to purchase this until Christmas) I think the I5 is a good investment because it can always be overclocked and I doubt he'l be doing editing so there shouldn't need to be an upgrade to I7 any time soon. Cheers for the suggestions.
  9. Thanks for the reply, Some nice parts there. I really would like to get him the GTX 970 as it's brilliant. It's his first build and he doesn't have a job so it doesn't need to be amazing. I just want him to be able to upgrade each individual part over time, so he has something decent to start with. Very nice choice of case, looks nice. I will most likely give him my old XFX 650W PSU as it's semi-modular so cable management is nice. Especially if he's getting a window case. Cheers for the suggestions.
  10. HI everybody, I'm going to be helping my step brother build his first gaming PC. We have a budget of around £600. He's going to be using this PC mostly for games such as: *Battlefield 3 & 4 *CoD Black ops *Minecraft *Fifa Whilst he doesn't need to have an amazing PC, he would ideally like to be able to run these games on at least medium and if possible, high settings. Parts Here's some parts which I'm debating already: CPU: Intel 4690k (£177) Motherboard: GPU: Memory: G.Skill Ripjaws X Series 8GB (£45) PSU: XFX 650W 80+ Bronze Certified Semi-Modular (£60) Case: Fractal Define Design R5 (£70) Storage: Western Digital Caviar Blue 1TB (£41) Link to Part Picker: http://uk.pcpartpicker.com/p/dxTq23 I had more options when I built mine as I had a higher budget. But as I'm only working with £600 it's more difficult trying to ration the money. I personally have the above PSU, Case and RAM and they've been brilliant so far. I also want this PC to be future proof. He's only 16 at the moment and still in school, so he can't afford to upgrade to expensive components immediately. He will need to save up and upgrade over time, but I want this build to be a good set up for the future. I was debating getting a GTX 970 but as they are £260 it would take up a large amount of the budget, but having one myself they are fantastic. If possible, he would also like a black/blue colour scheme and a case with a window panel. Summary Run most games at least on medium settings and if possible high. (Not expecting games such as The Witcher 3 or GTA 5) Black and blue colour scheme with a case that has a window panel. Budget of £600/$950 Future proof build. Thanks for reading. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Looking forward to your responses. If you need any more information, please feel free to ask. Regards, Ian.
  11. Thanks for the reply, I'l have a look at the suggested CPU and GPU block. I'm not sure my fractal S will fit a thick rad inside. Thanks for the suggestions. Thanks for the reply, I'l look a bit more into the compression fitting to see if I need any angled ones. Do you know roughly how much coolant I would need for this build?
  12. Thanks for the reply, I think I have most of my components chosen. The total comes up to around £400. Last couple of questions. 1) Do you have any thoughts on this pump? http://shop.ekwb.com/ek-xres-140-d5-pwm-incl-pump 2) Am I able to use any coolant? I would prefer a red coolant over red tubing. Some people say distilled water is the best. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
  13. Hi everybody, I've decided that I'm going to create a custom liquid cooling loop and as this is my first experience with water cooling, I was looking for some help please from the community. At the moment I have the hardware: Case: Fractal Define S Motherboard: Asus Maximus VII Ranger GPU: MSI GTX 970 CPU: Intel I7 4790k PSU: XFX 650W 80+ Bronze Certified Semi-Modular I have a budget of £400. Although I would like to go a little cheaper if possible. I'm based in the UK, so I would appreciate UK related shops/prices, as shipping from the US can be quite expensive. I have been looking at water cooling kits, yet there are a lot which don't fit my needs. Such as too thick a radiator, reservoir being too small. too expensive etc. As I don't have much experience, I've been looking at other builds to base mine off of. Here is one I'm very fond of: http://linustechtips.com/main/topic/73352-project-armad... Although mine is going to be a red/black theme. I would like to keep a lot of the build similar looking, except I won't be using a RAM water cooling block. I am looking to cool the CPU and GPU and have possible two 240mm radiators. (Depending on if you think it would be the best setup) The above link is from 2013, so I'm afraid parts may have upgraded since then, At the moment, I've been looking at the following components: GPU block: EK-FC970 GTX TF5 - Acetal+Nickel (£79 - EKWB) CPU block: EK-Supremacy EVO (£45 - EKWB) Radiator: EK-CoolStream PE 360 (Triple) EK-CoolStream PE 240 (Dual) (£100 - EKWB) Pump: Laing D5 Vario Pump (£68 Scan) Reservoir: Bitspower Z-Multi 150mm Water Tank (£30 Overclockers) Tubing: TUBE PrimoChill PrimoFlex™ Advanced LRT™ 19,1 / 12,7 mm - Crystal Clear RETAIL 3m (I'm not sure how many fittings I would need or the tubing length. Or even if all these parts are compatible to be honest. It was easier to build my PC itself on Part picker with the compatibility list) In all honestly, this build is very unnecessary as my PC is quite cool at the moment. I want to future proof this and build a water loop as a project. I was wondering if I could please get your opinions on what you believe would be the best set up for a customer water loop that would be visually appears and remain within my budget, or if all my parts are compatible. Whilst I have been doing my own research into this such as Youtube videos, forums, I really would appreciate the communities opinions on how this can be developed even further as I'm quite new to this and others may have thoughts or suggestions for components which I may have overlooked that could greatly benefit this project. If you need any more information, please feel free to ask. Thank you for reading.
