So I decided to buy into the Nvidia G-Sync ecosystem in the near future and grabbed myself an MSI GTX 1080Ti GAMING TRIO, should be here by Wednesday.

I hope I won't regret it ;)

As for the card itself, it looks awesome, has an overkill cooler and some say it's the best 1080Ti model so I decided to grab it. We'll see how it really performs :)

    hey it's the same one that i got...it's a FANTASTIC card...by far the best card i have own so far...extremely quiet...everything about it is amazing...good choice man.

    @i_build_nanosuits Oh really? I had no idea! I was initially set on a Zotac AMP! Extreme card but I watched this review:

    And decided that the MSI Gaming Trio should be a better choice :)

    How's the RGB Lighting on the card? Does it look cool in the P400? It looks like our PCs will be extremely similar performance-wise and the same goes for looks :P (CPU AIO, GPU and case :P)

    haha yeah :)

    yes i really like the look of the card in there...the RGB can do multiple effects...the card is beautiful...especially the backplate on it looks amazing...very very high quality card throughout...nothing cheap on this card at all...it's really a top end quality product.

    The card has amazing cooling...which is limited by my case unfortunately, the card run at 73-74c overclocked, but the fans don't go about 50% so it remain super quiet while gaming...BUT, as soon as i remove the side panel temps go back do in the 64-65c range... ?

    this case has bad airflow because of the front panel which isn't opened enough...i'm thinking about moding it...might get a design lazer cut into it and then i would glue a large dust filter from the inside afterward...kind of something like this but another design:

    That's a P400?

    @wkdpaul Yeah. I've had two power-hungry aircooled cards before in that case (Radeon R9 Fury Nitro from Sapphire, and the top-end Gigabyte GTX 980Ti XTREME GAMING) and they both suffered from poor airflow of the case caused by the restricted front panel.

    I suspect I'll run into similar issues with the Gaming X Trio card...

    i_build_nanosuits

    @Morgan MLGmanyeah the card could run much much cooler with good airflow that's for sure...but to me those temps are still bellow 75c (usually in the low 70s for most games) and the fans don't ramp up very much so to me it's not a real issue...it just could be better i guess...removing the front panel make temps drop by 5 or 6c right there...

    1080ti is nowhere near as hot as 980ti though...so it will be better than that don't worry ;)

    @wkdpaulthe first picture i posted is not from a P400 it was to help explain what i plan to do to the front panel, the second picture is of a P400.

    @i_build_nanosuits yup, guessed as much.

    @Morgan MLGman I got myself a P400S TG Special edition White (black front, white internals), and I got it at a discount because of an error on my initial order (had to wait 3 months to get the case!!).

    Love that case, and I don't have as much heat problem since I have a non-K CPU and a 1060 3GB ... so not the most heat generating build, but I still like @i_build_nanosuits idea to open up the front!

    @i_build_nanosuits @wkdpaul I thought about an RTX 2070 initially instead, I'd get a free BF5 copy with it but the 2070 cannot "RTX" anyway because it's too slow and it really trades blows with my previous GTX 1080 so there was not much point. The 1080Ti Gaming X Trio should perform somewhat better :P We'll see about the thermal performance in a few days, apparently there's a chance that the card will arrive tomorrow! I'm saying "there's a chance", because the delivery company can also deliver it on Wednesday due to the holiday season delays

    you bought it brand new? how much did you pay for it?

  11. WkdPaul

    WkdPaul

    Yeah, I'm surprised also since we keep hearing there's a 1080/1080ti shortage and the price went up!?

  12. Morgan MLGman

    Morgan MLGman

    No, I didn't buy it new because there are no new ones on sale here :P I paid less for it than I'd pay for a new RTX 2070 Gaming Z from MSI and it's still under warranty so I decided it's a better choice :P

    The price is a bit incomparable since I'm in Poland and the market here is just stupid, but I paid equivalent of 675 USD for the card ^_^ I sold my 1080 Hybrid for roughly 100 USD less.

    @wkdpaul The first photo is the top of an Evolv.....

    I would imagine he bought it used, the used market is actually very good for 1080ti's (I got mine for $550 before RTX dropped from the Classified section)

    @Morgan MLGman

    100$US to upgrade from a 1080 to 1080ti is a very good move IMHO...
    I paid 540$US (725CAD) for the 1080ti and i sold my 1080 for 375$US (500$CAD) so my upgrade
    had cost me more than yours...but your 1080 was a lot better than mine.

    Also, those price might seem low but it's beacause at the time people were hyped about the nes RTX
    cards and they didn't know it was trash yet...after the reviews came out prices slowly went back up
    for 10th series cards.. ?
