Interesting info: So Gigabyte support just replied to me, I was wondering where the screw warranty sticker was located and whether taking the GPU cooler off voided my warranty so I asked about that. This is their response:

So it seems like as long as you didn't damage the card yourself, you can replace the cooler or re-paste the GPU and your warranty is going to be honored as long as you ship the GPU with the original cooler on ^_^

just so you know, i took my ASUS cooler of my 980ti to re-apply thermal paste and all it did is make it worse...at first it was like 2c lower so i was happy but over time i would say a couple weeks later maybe 3 weeks it got worse than it ever has been...like +5c worse than it was with the factory thermal paste...so personally...never again.

980ti run stupid hot, and it's not a matter of paste, or how big your cooler is...the GPU simply is too much to cool down...it's too power hungry, too big.

also, we should NOT care about our GPU temps that much, here is a screenshot to prove this ok:

This is my workstation at the office im on right now...this card is running that hot on IDLE...this GPU within this thing is the same as the GTX 560ti so it's quite power hungry and the cooler is a single slot blower...this card can easily reach 100c+ under any type of load...and it's been running like that for over 7 years at this point without any issues...AT ALL...perfectly fine...so if you think your ''80c peak'' will destroy your 980ti...fear not...they can sustain A LOT more abuse than that...CPU's are the same...it's STUPID to worry that much about our temps...i know personally, after reading and learning a lot about it...i'm DONE with that...fuck it.

@TheBeastPC For things like painting the cooler, I suspect the second paragraph applies: You have to specifically contact them and provide them with your S/N and invoice because different warranty terms may apply ;)

@i_build_nanosuits It's not about the temps of my card, I set the temp limit to 85C and made it a priority so in case my GPU reaches 85C, the core will start downclocking slightly and the fans will keep ramping up to maintain that temp so I'm not worried, it doesn't even reach that temp though (it's usually around 80C under heavy load) and it's only because of relatively poor airflow inside the P400 with the H100i V2 as the only intake, I've seen it go below 70C on test-benches while being ridiculously quiet because the cooler is huge :P

I submitted a ticket because as you know, I bought this card used and I realized there was no warranty sticker on any of the backplate screws so I asked Gigabyte's support where should it be (I was worried the previous owner didn't tell me about taking the cooler off and the remaining warranty would be potentially gone without the sticker), turns out they don't use those stickers! :)
