Something else you can ask, and another route you can go if she doesn't plan on vertical mounting the GPU is custom back plates.

For under $100 you can hide almost all non white on just about any graphics card. If she's wanting to have her card vertically mounted then that's not really an option.
If white and grey isn't the ticket, just go with any image you want.

The TL:DR is there's only so much cost cutting you can do on a white build, but I full well understand the "But I want white things and pink things" struggle ;).
People are always going to say "wasted money on this, wasted money on that", but is it really wasted money for her to be a bit happier? We all know it's not going to perform quite the same as if the entire budget wasn't spent on aesthetics. There are some interesting work arounds though.

Feel free to ask any other questions. I'm curious to see what yall come up with. If white wasn't the only color she wanted there's other creative ways to get that snuck into a build too.

Powercolor has typically been at the top of AMD AIBs for performance. They cost more, but tend to be very worth it. Think EVGA but for AMD.
I haven't heard anything surprisingly bad about their support. That doesn't mean people don't have bad experiences with them, just that they haven't stood out recently as bad for support, unlike Gigabyte and their graphics cards.

If she's just flat out hooked on the look of the Aero, you *might* be able to step up to a 4080, but at a $1200 card that going to be a big ask. I ended up swapping that 4070 for the 7900xtx just due to the pure performance difference if she's just gaming. 1440p or 1080 and it might make sense to go a little bit lower tier with the graphics card as well.

The Dynamic Evo has room for 10 120mm fans. That would be ~$120 to fully populate the fan slots if you went with Vetroos.

Nononono !!! So much money in useless stuff and inferior card for the budget
@podkall max "working" DDR5 speed on AM5 is 6000, but 3D chips don't care much for RAm speed and 5600CL30 gives same performance

Just a couple questions I wanted to ask to clarify.
Are you going to just game on this computer? (no streaming/ no recording videos or any process that would benefit from higher core counts)
Are you someone that requires 2TB of storage? (do you save a lot of movies or files that require a lot of space to store)
Are you comfortable with the idea of overclocking your cpu?
What is your monitor quality(1080p,1440p) what hz is the monitor(60hz or 144hz)
For a first build this isn't too bad but the budget can be allocated to different areas which would greatly improve gaming performance.

While not having an ssd allows you to play games I would say that playing games such as skyrim and witcher which have lots of loading screen having an ssd is almost a must. Only reason I have a 1tb ssd is because my current computer has a 250 ssd and a 1tb hdd but I regret the moment that I didn't spend extra to get a 1tb SSD.

What is your motherboard model, if it only supports sata speeds you will not be able to run an NVME SSD unless it is through a PCI-E adapter card in a PCI-E slot.

the pro also has more endurance, but i would still choose the 960 EVO faster read/write speeds and does not take a sata spot

i have had mine for 4 months and written 5TB.. so i am on pace for about 5years before i would have to look at possibly replacing and i am sure i will find something else by then lol

Yes it is. TLC for a rough estimate is 100TB/100GB but MLC usually seems to be touted as 200TB/100GB based on various Samsung documents.

I know the 960 is better but why is it priced at the same level as the 850 pro? There should be no reason really buy the 850 pro at all.

    Preface
Welcome to the second edition of How Overpriced is Alienware? If you haven’t read the first article, you can read it here, though it isn’t needed to understand this one. If you don’t already know, this is a price comparison with alienware products, what you can build for yourself, and what else you can buy. You can also get a build from ncix.com, but you can just add $50 to the custom build to get that. I will be comparing a high end and low end model of every alienware product, to give a general range of their value. For the custom builds, I will be including both an equivalent build, and also what I think would be ideal for the price of the alienware build. One thing to remember is that even if the prices are similar, the custom builds I will be including will have much more reliable parts, which will make them generally better options. A final note is that prices do change, but there will generally be a very similar build for the same price. So now that that’s all said, let’s start.

Note: The formatting went to hell when the forum updated :l

    Alienware Alpha console
So we'll actually be starting with a tricky build here, as you can’t build a normal PC this small. Because of that, I’ll have the custom builds in the Silverstone sg13, but I’ll also have a zotac zbox for a better sized comparison. The GPU in the alpha is technically an 860m, but those are practically the same as a 750ti, so I'll be using one of those.

if something doesn't work or your not sure what is going on then someone on here will definetly be able to help.
I had the same fear when I first started. I kept thinking it's alot of money to spend and if something goes wrong I wouldn't know what to do but it's alot easyer than you think and Google is always there to help lol
