  1. A T5 or T6 from https://www.mpb.com should be in the low 100s, Canon EF-S 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 IS II is ~50$ Canon EF 50mm f/1.8 II in is ~60$ I'd get all these items used in good or better condition. I'd then also grab 1-2 spare batteries and a 128gb or 265gb card.
  2. the forum is English only except for a few threads in OT
  3. ==thread locked== this violates community standards
  4. Thanks, I really wanted a train in that sunset but it was super delayed. I don't crop my photos till I pick what platform they are going on so most of the ones I share here are just the full shot. I tend to embrace some noise in my photos, Fuji color science and filter pattern makes it look a lot more like film grain. I also need to be at ISO800 and above to get the most DR. Feels very sterile, I almost want a funky lens or filter to make it seem less perfect I'm going to do 3 edits of the same image. Again I really embraced the grain here Fuji X-S10 Fuji 16-80 F4 F5.6 28mm 1/125 ISO6400 BART in downtown Berkeley waiting for my train with the soon to be retired original fleet after 50+ years of service.
  5. I'll certainly add that if I have time to do a major rewrite
  6. While the colors look nice everything is quite soft and has quite a bit of noise. The small sensor with high MP count isn't doing so well. 8. this feels so random, clean the object a bit more if you want a closeup Fuji X-S10 Sigma 30mm F1.4 @ F1.4 1/60 ISO3200 I should have set my ISO at 2500, shutter a little faster and maybe ran at F1.8 or 2 and just used the raw latitude but I wanted to push this lens on my first night outing with it
  9. I just picked up a copy of it for fuji and so far I've liked it. 2 examples I shot last weekend. Fuji X-S10 F1.4 1/60 ISO3200
  10. HPC though always has been about weird systems. Xeon Phi wasn't to uncommon in HPC between 2012-2022, with Cori at NERSC being the largest deployment of Phi in HPC.

    new segate 8TB enterprise drives run 115$ on newegg
  12. I've now got 3 6TB drives in a raid 5, time for the slow process of moving all my data off the existing 5TB drive and onto the new array. Then I'll add the 5TB to the pool as I'm using windows 10 storage spaces

    my understanding is its worked fairly well. I was responsible for installing it along with being boots on the ground for a bunch of people over zoom to walk me though config and a few changes. I think its paired up mostly with our 20 8 V100 test nodes. I don't use it as that isn't my job but I could ask around

    My work has had a Vast test system for the last 2.5 years running alongside a Cray Data Warp Burst Buffer and a HPE Lustre based flash storage system. All used to feed some HPC systems
  17. Like the composition and the choice to shoot a really fast shutter to freeze everything. I'll give 2 grades for the same shot. Went to the Western Railway Museum a few weeks back for a interurban ride through wildflowers. The ride was nice and the tour after was great. Fuji X-S10 16-80 @ 48mm F4 iso 640 1/1250

  19. Nice sheep, Rare sight for me along UP coast line (LA to Oakland Via Santa Barbra And San Jose), its almost all Metrolink commuter trains and Amtrak Pacific Surfliner and Coast Starlight trains. Get a few local freights but a big through freight is a rare sight. Stopped waiting for a number of metrolink trains to pass and to drop off cars. The train lost most of its length at Oxnard.
