  1. 9 hours seems relatively accurate. It make take a 10-12 though. Somewhere in there.
  2. Yes I do. Stock speeds please. If you could run all 16 threads for one task and then link me the host just like Porina did, I would be eternally grateful.
  3. Yes go ahead and disable the gpu acceleration. Are all 16 threads currently running a work unit?
  4. Go ahead and run all 16 threads and report all 16 times. It is multi threaded. And I noticed that your 1700 is at 3.6Ghz... would you be willing to take the OC off for the test? I know it's a pain.
  5. I actually need them at stock speeds. Would you be willing to take the OC off for the test? I know it's a pain. Also, these CPU's have 16 threads. Go ahead and run all 16 and give me all 16 times.
  6. I'm working on a research project into distributed computing, and I need to run tests on the 1700, 1700x, and 1800x Unfortunately I don't own any of these processors. That's where you come in! I need to know how long it takes a certain work unit from the Einstein@Home project to run on each of these processors. So the favor I need from you is: - Send me your full system specs - Download the BOINC host application - Link up to the Einstein@Home network - Run 5 work units overnight while you're not using the computer, and report back to me with the amount of time it took to run each task. I need to run this test on each of the 3 Ryzen R7 processors. That's it! If you're willing to do a little benchmarking for the sake of science, and have one of those chips in your computer, please PM me! I really need the help. Thanks!
  7. Also, you won't "Fry your pc". Your PSU will just shut off if you overload it.
  8. My 780ti OC 1300mhz, 4660k OC 4.2GHz, optical drive, SSD, 2-7200rpm hard drives and 3 monitors only pull 450w from the wall combined measured with a kill-o-watt meter. Your PSU is fine.
  9. I used the Proliant drawers back in the pre-hyperthreading quad core days. Great hardware. Be ready for a little bump in your power bill though... That'll be a 500w unit with all those drives in there, so it'll cost $20 a month to run. If that doesn't bother you, server on baby.
  10. Austin's is a rotting slice of California stinking up the most inspiring state in the country with college kids who sleep until 11 and drink lattes all day while crying about how mean Mr. Trump is being unfair to their entitled and deserving selves granted by the inalienable right of superiority that their college diploma holds with such self evidence. If Amazon wants to come here, absolutely outstanding. You see, the worst part about Austin, being the young, educated but immensely stupid population is that they're easy to impress; At least, easy to impress into paying $1200 a month for a 1-1 on the 5th floor of some dirty tower next to the expressway with an elevator that never works and a staircase that reeks of weed, piss, and rotting alcohol because CLEARLY Austin, Texas is the only place anybody who's somebody would ever even consider living with their rack of clearance Bacardi and a rat dog they "rescued" from an animal rights activist shelter so they can mask their hatred for their sorry and pathetic lives with fake animal love and fruity mixed drinks they learned how to make on Pinterest. And the strangest thing is, they like it. I don't even have to convince them, they just buy it of their own accord. Amazon coming here will keep those silly kids pouring in so I can get a commission every time they sign their vastly overvalued leases that they insist on having so passionately. I say, bring em in by the trainload. Oh and also, the topless swimming holes are a blast. You've never seen a higher concentration of attractive women.
  11. Nuclear fusion. World peace. Conciseness. Singularity. Inter dimensional travel. Running Crysis.
  12. No it's fine. There's not much to PC building these days. You kind of have to be an idiot to really mess it up. Ultrawide monitors are the best. Sacrifice everything for them. Don't let any of these heathens tell you otherwise.
  13. First off: Ultrawides are absolute sex and I 100% support your decision. I have a cheap mainstream LG 1080p 29" UW That I bought on Ebay used for $140 and it is the singe greatest upgrade that I have ever made to my computer ever. And I love my Razer Deathadder with all of my heart and soul. Second: Stop dreaming and make one day today. If your profile is right, then you're almost 23 years old. You're running out of time. You don't need an $8000 computer to make videos. At the start, you wouldn't even know what to do with all that horsepower. What you need right now is skill and experience, and the best way to learn how to do something is to teach yourself, starting from the bottom and working your way up. You can't buy talent. So go build a tripod out of scrap wood from the back yard, tape your god damn cell phone to it, and start making kick ass videos. If you just worry about making better content with what you have, then you'll find the equipment upgrades and dual ultrawide battle stations come naturally when they need to come.
  14. Um... I mean... yeah. Cool? PSU is a little overkill... um... I guess that if I was going to not build a computer for all the media production that I'm not doing with all the money that I don't have, I would build it with all the fastest components too.
  15. I got hacked a couple months ago and lost my entire stack plus all my value armor. I'm not sure I'm ready yet... I still feel the PTSD...
  16. No that's how it ran on day 1 and the performance has never degraded. It does run on an open test bench, so you could check your case, but unless it's in a closed carboard box, that's probably not the issue. Case ventilation doesn't matter nearly as much as people tend to think it does. My guess is that you got unlucky with the paste and just need a fresh squirt. Skip to 7:20 on the first video
  17. Yeah I actually mean 1333mhz at 65C after keeping the GPU pinned at 100% with BOINC for about a month nonstop. 780ti EVGA ACX cooler bought in Q4 2013 and running BOINC almost nonstop for the last 4 years. Granted, that's in a cool basement. It would probably be around 70C if I had it upstairs. Get that cooler off and get out the thermal paste.
  18. Yeah something is definitely wrong. My 780ti runs at a super super lazy overclock of 1333mhz at 65C with fan at 60% for days on end. Maybe try thermal paste. I don't know after that. In fact, your card is actually thermal throttling right now, as evidenced by the fact that you're over the temp limit but only at 80% power usage. A card that's running at 100% with NO thermal throttling (Like yours should be because the 780ti has a massive die size that runs cool as a cucumber) will stay at 100% - 105% power limit.
  19. Unless the sex appeal of the more expensive MB is worth the $100 to you, save the money. Put it into a nice pretty ultrawide display You'll never notice the difference in day to day use. What motherboard you chose is really a visual thing; As long as a given board has all the features you will be using, it doesn't make a difference.
  20. Definitely not anything I wouldn't do. I'm not gonna say it'll definitely work. But really, barring all the silly "But what it it lights on fire muwhhaaaa" comments and concerns, what's really the worst that can happen? Nothing. You'll be fine.
