  1. that factory direct place ships anywhere in canada the website says, so that might do. Ill have to look around the site.
  2. lmao, no. I live in a small ass town, which is why I need to resort to asking questions instead of going into a store to look for myself
  3. Hi guys and gals. Looking for some suggestions for a cheap monitor in the 24" range that can go into portrait. Doesn't need to be anything fancy. it wont be for gaming, just for a secondary monitor for use in chat rooms/watching youtube while I play on my main games on my main monitor. Any suggestions would be amazing - I have a bad habit of purchasing stuff that is more then what I need.
  4. I know X99stattrak has told you otherwise... but I wouldn't skip the key part. from my understanding and albiet limited experience updating windows 10 on a few computers now, they always accept the windows 7 or 8.1 keys when prompted for the windows 10 key. My recommendation, put your key in when asked, and if it doesn't work (highly unlikely) then just skip the key and come back here for help. Edit** also, if possible, make sure you have access to another computer, tablet, or phone that can access the web. Should you run into any problems lots of great people here can help you out. I don't recommend calling Microsoft, they are pretty useless, and sometimes hard to understand the people because Microsofts call centers for Tech support are in the Philippines and in India.
  5. Yep, MrUnknown makes a good point that I forgot to mention...
  6. Hi PerForm. I just did a clean install of windows 10 myself last week. when prompted for the windows 10 product key on install, I inputted my windows 8.1 product key and it was accepted. Try installing windows 10 and using your windows 7 product key. If that fails, you can always install windows 7 and then upgrade, but I am pretty sure that the windows 10 install will accept your Win7 Product Key. Hope this helps you.
  7. Yes... move all your files that you have on your flash drive somewhere safe (your backup computer if you have one) and then once you are done with the Windows Bootable USB all you have to do is format the USB. This should reset the USB to factory settings, completely deleting your Windows install files that you had on the USB. I'm making the assumption that you know how to format the USB after you are done. If you don't know how feel free to ask. Edit* I may have misunderstood your question. You can not have your files on the USB drive at all once you create the windows bootable USB. Only the windows install files should be on the USB. Once you are done with the USB installing windows, then you should format the USB too delete all the windows files on it, and reset the USB to factory settings. Only after you format the USB can you put your files back onto it.
  8. Typically I would agree with you Stig, but he took apart his old personal rig in order to put the new one together... Surely he would hook it up soon... I sure as hell wouldn't want to be without a personal rig for more than a week.
  9. Hi AlanAlan. No, it does not have to be a brand new USB drive. Just make sure there is nothing on the USB that you want to keep, as turning it into a bootable USB will format/delete all files on the USB drive.

    Hello LTT!

Joining the band wagon here... Feel like a broken record player just repeating what everybody else has said, but Welcome Megan. Hope you enjoy it here.
  11. OK, so first you said that you are installing this on a new SSD. Is this a brand new out of the box SSD, or is it new to you? If your SSD is NOT a brand new SSD with absolutely no information on it, then forget about all the other stuff I say next... because you will need some different steps then what I will suggest. 1. Is your computer hooked up to the internet? The install pulls files off the internet so your going to need an internet connection. 2. Try creating a windows 10 bootable USB install instead of using a disk. You can download the Windows 10 install files, along with the Microsoft program to create a USB bootable drive from Microsoft's website By Clicking Here 3. Since your PC was running windows 7, I'm going to make an assumption (since you don't have your PC specs listed on your profile here) that your upgrading the Windows on an older PC. I don't know if you have upgraded your PC at all since purchase but if you haven't, and you're still running some older tech, then the install can take a very long time to complete. Hours in some cases. Mine took 40 minutes, and I have a brand new PC. There are reports on the internet of the install taking several hours... 5-10 hours for a very few unlucky people. I think if you download the files from Microsoft and create a bootable USB instead of a disk, it will solve your problems.... its very possible that there was a problem with the disk when you where writing the information to it. There are so many things that can go wrong, in my opinion, with a disk rather than a USB. *EDIT* you need a computer running windows 7, 8.1, or 10 in order to use Microsoft's tool to create a bootable USB. Any older version and Microsoft won't let you download the files... I know, its stupid, but when has Microsoft done something that wasn't stupid. If you don't have access to a computer running Windows 7, 8.1, or 10, and you have absolutely no way to gain access to a computer running one of those OS, then post here and I will help you out. There is a work around if your running an older OS on another computer (that was my problem, my back up computer was running windows vista, it was hell trying to make the bootable drive, until I figured it all out a few hours later) Hopefully this information helped. I'll follow this post so I can make sure you're up and running. I've done complete clean installs 3 times within the last week (long story) so I feel like a bit of an expert on clean installing windows 10 now... feel free to ask for help if you need it, I'll try my best.
  12. WOW... if this was meant to confuse the hell out of people, mission accomplished. I doubt Russia is involved in anything at all with NK... their relations aren't as good as they where with Kim Jung Un's grandfather. As for China.... Even they have been publicly getting pissed off at NK... something China never does, until recently. During this last Nuclear test, China came out to the public and condemned NK.... not for the same reasons as the rest of the world mind you... but mostly because NK always warns China when they are about to do a nuclear test... and this time they didn't, China had no warning at all.
  13. Yep, as Enderman just said, do a clean install. Its a pain in the butt to do, and you got to backup all your files you don't want deleted... but it is worth it. I was having a few bugs and just a really laggy system when I upgraded... I just did a clean install last week and have noticed a totally better system. Of course, doing a clean install means that you would need to know your Windows Product Key. If you have your windows 7 or 8.1 Key around still, this will work and be recognized as a Windows 10 Key when you input it when asked. *EDIT* Your old windows 8.1 Product Key will work on the windows 10 install, I just did it myself last week. I can't personally speak to if a Windows 7 Key will work as I don't have one of those... but according to the internet a Windows 7 Key will work also.
  14. Interesting theory, but totally wrong. Kim Jong Un doesn't care about his people, let alone what his people think of him. North Koreans literally believe that he is a god, descended from a family of gods. And when your entire population believes you are a god, then how do you tackle the question of HOW do you overthrow a god? This would be the equivalent to Christians overthrowing Jesus. Sure one could make an argument that my above analogy doesn't work, because looking at history humans are becoming less and less religious with the development of science and culture/society... So surely the same thing must be happening in North Korea and people don't really believe Kim Jong Un is a god... or at least less people believe it then they once did. But religion in the world is decreasing mainly because of social beliefs. North Korea doesn't have these social networks, they don't have contact with the outside world. If you are told that a man is a god, and there is nobody to say "no hes not" then people are going to believe it ... that's brain washing for you. As for "peace" with North Korea... North Korea doesn't want peace, they want to re-unite the two Korea's into one, under the dictatorship of their "god" ChexMixMonday's said it best in his reply; "He's an petulant child." This is the truly scary reality... Kim Jung Un is a Child, who grew up being told he was a God, and that millions of people will worship his every word. One day he will snap, and for no reason other than he is a child, he will drop a bomb on south korea.
  15. Does anybody have any idea on how Linus Plans to connect his computer to his monitor/mouse/keyboard/speakers if his computer will be in a server rack in a different room??
  16. WOW, thanks, I totally missed this some how on my Youtube feed.
  17. Many months ago now Linus teased about his personal build that he was going to do where he would have his home computer in a closet or something, and then his workstation somewhere else... Anybody know any progress on this?? Did I miss the video some how?? This would be something interesting that I would love to try if feasible. I would love to be able to have my computer stashed away somewhere not making any noise.
  18. Disabled my Router/modems IPv6 and this seemed to solve the problem. According to a Manager at Telus (my ISP) they just recently started using IPv6 with their customers, and are still encountering errors and problems on their end. This could be the cause... So if anybody runs into a problem like this, then try going into your modems control panel and disabling your IPv6.
  19. UPDATE: So I once again tried going into the Telus Modem's Control panel and disabled IPv6. It is now running on IPv4 only. This seems to have corrected the issue this time. Microsoft, Steam, Netflix, and YouTube servers are all accessible now. If anybody else has an issue similar to this, i guess I would suggest disabling your modems IPv6.
  20. Hi Cvdasfg. Telus thought that it might be a problem with the Router/Modem (all internet hardware is owned by my ISP) so they sent a tech out to my house and replaced my wireless router. The problem still persists.
  21. I've been decently active on the LTT Forums this past week trying to solve a problem. I will explain everything as best as I can. Firstly, My ISP is Telus (Canada). About a month ago I began having issues on Netflix and Youtube. Both websites where being blocked. I could access the websites, but I couldn't load any videos. There was no internet connection reaching the Netflix servers (according to Netflix) which therefor caused the videos to time out. -- Side note, I came to the LTT forums about this issue when it first started, and only 2 people replied saying that my ISP was throttling my connection to Netflix. i disputed that, and now I know that's not what was happening. About one week ago I noticed that I hadn't received any windows updates in a while. I tried to get updates to my windows, but kept getting an error message. After talking to Microsoft and doing a ton of my own research, I found out that the error I was getting meant that my internet connection to the Microsoft Update Server was being blocked -- Exactly the same issue I am having with the Netflix and Youtube servers. I have been in communication with Telus for 4 weeks now trying to solve the issue. Nobody there is able to figure it out. One of the Managers at Telus took over my case, and eventually attempted to disable IPv6 and only use IPv4 in my modems control panel. This solved the problem with connecting to the Microsoft Server, and the Netflix Server, but creating a new problem where I couldn't connect to the Steam server. I know that this is NOT a computer or operating system problem, like Telus thought it might be, as I have now down 2 completely CLEAN installs of Windows 10 onto my system. Also, the servers being block isn't just on my computer, I also cant access the Netflix or Youtube servers on any other device in my household (XBONE, tablet, iPhone) Does anybody have any suggestions at all?
  22. I found a solution. I was told that my ISP (Telus) has only recently began using IPv6 with its customers. As a result they are still "ironing out all the kinks" in the system. This solution might work for you, as it worked for me. Go into your Router/Modems control panel and disable your IPv6. This wont effect your internet speed at all, but I have been told that IPv4 is more stable then IPv6. Hope this helps anybody with this issue.
  23. Hey, sorry to bump up your old post, but I am having an issue with my windows updater... its different then yours, but maybe you solution will help me too.... Its been a few months now, do you still remember how you fixed it???
  24. Is there a way to manually install windows updates and completely bypass the windows updater in windows 10????
  25. WOW, I can't believe we had the exact same experience... yea, they remote into my PC for 3 hours today too... I also got the line of "nothing we can do except send you to Tier 2 support (premium support).... oh btw, it costs $150 USD" -- Screw you microsoft.
