  1. ill take a look on it but i did a bios update before the rig upgrade to enable the ryzen 5th gen in the first place Bios version 6063 i think it is now and i cant actually find the dowload page for my mobo on the asus homepage(bc they stopped support) i found the version 6063 after clicking trough a lot of dead links
  2. i activated everything in the bios for rebar support (4g decoding, Csm disabled etc) i shouldnt be that but its a X470 Prime Pro, maybe its the age? I just figuerd it might be the unupdated vbios bc i could never get the update tool to work and i just assumed the vbios is probably not up to date
  3. Hey there yeah i upgraded my rig from R5 1600 to R5 5600X Zotac GTX1070 Amp Extreme to Zotac RTX 3060 Ti Twin Edge (no OC, no LHR, no GDDR6X) GS800 to RM650i Alpenföhn Cooler to Scythe Mugen 4(or 5 idk) Cooler new 4tb hdd i got for 28 bucks from the bargain bin at the local tech retailer some enermax case to bequiet Pure Base 600 expect for the 4tb hdd everything is used but working perfectly as the time of testing and writing this on ths rig A few tips tho: Dont buy a Scythe Mugen for AMD Processors, i didnt get the backplate but the dude selling it to me never had it either and modded it too bc as it seems Scythe is unable to produce a working AM4 backplate I basically cut 4 Strips of metal to lengt and put them between the cooler contact plate and the main bar keeping the cooler attached to the Mobo to get some tension on it, left the normal AM4 Backplate and the plastic "standoffs" on the mobo and screwed the two struts attaching to the main bar on top of them. Works Bigger project, and the reason why i want to post this in troubleshooting, was the gpu... It worked, i got to test it when i bougt it, so no complaints there. The guy also had a founders ed 3060 ti for the same price there, in retrospect idk why i dint took that one. Maybe a bit of bias bc my previous card served my quite well but after running some games at home in the old build i had the gpu reach is locked max temp of 85 degrees celsius and the hotspot got up to 105. Sooo..fan mod time! never done it before but wth Tries to detach the "icestorm2.0" cooler - fan cables are jammed between pcb and cooling block(!) so there i was yesterday with a completely dirty gpu pcb and no thermal pads and fans I bought a 3pack of Artics 2000RPM Argb fans, some DriftIce 13W/mK Thermal pads and new thermal paste and started my first gpu "refresh" It went suprisingly well The card was really dirty and i was extremly careful so it took me a while to remove the complety dried previos thermal paste, cut the thermal pads to size and so on Another tip: if you are redoing the thermal pads on this Gpu, the thermalm pads should be over 1.5 mm thick to properly attach to the cooling block. I had to cut my 1.5mm pads in two thickness-wise and put a second layer of (ideally 0,75mm) on top a bit too big i know but all in all i got a drop of around 20 degrees on the hotspot and 10 degrees on the gpu in short time loads and with a prolonged load it goes down to 10 degs C improvment on the hotspot and 5 on the processor. Im running the new Gpu fans over the manual fan control switch(3V,9V and 12V stepping) of the Pure Base 600 I think thats quite good, right? I.e. first question: Should i try to contain the airflow around the card more to maybe get some more cooling performance from the oversize fans? The bigger question also connecting to my previous posts: I couldnt get a vbios update for my card to work until now... the teardown gave me the ability to ckeck for obvious damage; GPU-Z shows nothing unusual about the card apart from the current vbios being from january 2021; The Zotac support told me that "The card is Zotac (OEM) made for a customer. Zotac does not provide the support and maintenance service" (that means its from either chinese wholesale market or prebuilt system from walmart as example?); Knowing all that: The thing i need to to to enable rebar is to find a bios of the same card ( SKU: ZT-A30610E-10M ) with a rebar enabled/updated vbios and flash that rom on my card via nvflash, right?? That would be so great.. Anyway Hope you all are doing well
  4. so i did some research i probably dont have an lhr card atleast the sku comes out to a normal twin edge witch gpu-z and the techpowerup registry. and this card has the rebar vbios update available on the zotac homepage. but i tried and still cant use it. now im guessing it might be a really old vbios version to begin with on the card right now stopping it from getting updated this log has the same device and subsystem id as my card and the same bios version (unverified entry) this card has the same bios version but a different subsystem id (also unverified entry) and this card has the same device & subsystem id as the last one and this is the most recent verified vbios entry in the techpowerup database. that means that this bios should work with my card, right? never flashed vbios before..
  5. Hey there So, my last post was about my mostly bought used - upgrade of my system everything arrived, looking good (backplate of the scythe mugen is missing but after a google search it seems scythe cant produce a fitting am4 backplate anyway so i did some stuff myself to mount the cooler) Specifically the gpu: i got a RTX 3060 Ti Zotac Twin Edge Not the OC But i think( dont have the box) it is an LHR card. I dont care about mining so doesnt matter i only want to enable resizeable bar and obviously you need to update the vbios for that. and if you select the lhr version in zotacs download center, theres just no bios update. only for the non-lhr there is one and its not working with my card, tried it. gpu-z shows all indications that im able to use rebar...(Asus x470 prime pro, bios version 6063; ryzen 5 5600x, gpt boot drive etc.) Am i doing something wrong? or is there no rebar for lhr cards? Thanks in advance for your answers
  6. i like eespecially the downsizre to 32gb ram, i was thinking about that a bit too. but in the end ig if Ttaco feels he needs 64 gigs would still advise to spent that lottle bit extra on psu, also bc the standard hasnt changed much and even with new mobo connectors making an apperance over the last years there will alway be adapters and investing a bit more into the psu can still have a long-time value. but also weird coming from me with a used rm650i
  7. looking good ig i mean you´re not making a lot of cutbacks for your setup but just for security and bc a psu failure can, in the worst case fry all other of your quite expensive components, i would recommend going platinum by spending a little bit more on the psu
  8. i mean you could invest into am5 but its probaly i very close matchup between the 600k and the r5 7600X go am4 and you might be able to fit a ryzen 7, a 5800X maybe into the budget depending on availability in your region you could also go 13th gen intel with a i5 13500 all these cpus are somewhat close to each other in "score based benchmarks" for single and multi core loads but these tests obviously dont tell the full story always and maybe its better now to go with a very budget gpu on 13th gen intel or 7th gen ryzen to have their features and upgrade to a bit stronger in a few months
  9. i mean i can understand if you dont want to go the Axxx chipsets but there are no affordable B650 chipset mobos around, assuming you wanna go am5, that fit your budget? i mean you could think about am4 but in case of the original question, the 400F will be a bit cheaper but the 600k is just plain better. How moch if you specifically only game? the difference will probably be not tthat big due to dependence on the gpu but the 600k will probably give you a bit longer lifetime for your current system and is faster than the 400f, no questions asked
  10. okay yeah that sucks hard, my bad obviously could be a problem caused by the system being prebuild you have no clue meaning this is most likely your first time working on a pc urself? so start with some basics: first of all find out what hardware is in your prebuild; from the spec sheet of your system if you still have the packaging Or open the case and look up the motherboard, gpu and power supply, cpu wont be directly accesible due to the cooler on top of it sadly while opening the case take a general look around and clean if necessary, theres maybe a small chance your problem is caused by dust creating a short circuit. If youre unsure about how to clean the inside of your system without having pressurized air, theres videos but general advice, try to not touch the smaller electric components like the little thinggs you see all over the motherboard too hard it at all and be careful with possible static discharge from you to the electric component if youve done all that another basic first measure is unplugging everthing from your pc like mouse, monitor... turn off your psu with the little switch on it next to the power input, but keep the cable connected, press your start button on the pc for 10 sec, then remove the power cable, switch on the psu without the cable and do the 10 sec hold again to "drain" your system to neutral
  11. did it work before and you changed nothing hardware-wise?
  12. Then check if your cpu is compatible with the mobo without a bios update, maybe you need to update the bios to boot with your particular cpu and for any usefull troubleshooting you need to know how much power your psu is able to provide
  13. okay.. first off take two ram sticks out( usuall the first and third from the cpu but you have to look that up in the motherboard manual) and try to boot
