No. 30% purchace, even if a little high makes sense. You are using their platform to have your app be distributed. The main problems are the 30% of IAPs, and the fact that you are forced to use the app store.
How else do you propose that Apple monitors revenue generated through its App Store? You're allowed to have subscriptions that are processed outside the App Store so long as the app is a reader app, like Netflix.
If they only take a cut on the original purchase price, then the entire library of apps would move to IAP and be free to download overnight. It makes sense that Apple is charging for all transactions that are on iOS (unless you have a reader app) as it costs money to manage the library of apps and host and distribute.
I have zero sympathy for Epic as they knew the ToS and cost of doing business on iOS well in advance.

I totally understand wanting to avoid paying 30%, particularly for large sums of money.
However, are they expecting Apple to run the App Store out of goodwill by completely cutting them out? It's not like Apple hasn't been transparent about their pricing, Epic knew what they were getting into when they published their apps on the store.

I don't know, if Intel can't pull their GPU game together between AMD and Apple I think they'll be squeezed in the mobile market...

So they're being sued by a company for using a product that has been around for longer than the patent they're using to sue. Gl;hf.

It's already been patched, only works on A7 to A11 chips.
Also looks like they have to have access to your device and be able to login, so at that point you're basically already screwed anyway.

I wouldnt be so sure about that, my uncle is swimming in jobs without any ads or marketing... If you have a satisfied customer base you basically do not need any ads.
And that's fine, a lot of small business do just that. But what you'll find is that there is a lot of money and growth being left on the table, particularly if he's not at capacity.
Marketing isn't just about ads, it's about understanding the customer life cycle, business comms, PR, online presence, advertising, events, promotions, design, market intelligence, market research, etc, etc.

I find it odd that companies seemingly cut into their own talent pool when people need to be cut, rather than marketing/advertising.
Why not cut into the people whose job is nothing more than an expense with little tangible value, rather than the people who actually design and make the products you sell?
Admittedly, this comment comes more from a focus on the gaming industry rather than chip makers, but still.
lol.
Value is created, or should be created, in all areas of the business. Marketing and sales are as equally important to the overall picture as solid design and manufacturing. Additionally, each role requires different skills sets with little transferable skills.
When times are tough, you don't stop telling people about your product. In fact you probably need to spend more. Sure, you may spend less on traditional advertising such as "Buy this, buy that" but you're still spending on PR, Events, Promotional activities, etc.
Every business will respond to a downturn differently, but from experience I've found that the best path of action is as a team to identify which projects are going to generate the most net present value from their associated activities, or are critical projects for business continuation. You then rank them and either do, delay, or halt them. You can then restructure the business to support the resource requirements appropriately.
While Renduchintala may indeed be talented, he is ultimately responsible for the continued missed deadlines and delays in the manufacturing process hence the resignation.
My feelings on the subject as an outsider is that Intel as a whole could probably use a refresh. They don't seem to be innovating in a cohesive manner, and they're certainly not communicating their pathway well.

I’d say an interesting thing to buy if most mobile games weren’t trash ( loot boxes , aggressive pay to win , advertisements and more )
the problem for me would not be the device but the games
theoretically it has the potential to be a somewhat own small product class : phone and mobile game console hybrid: has the mobility of a switch and can still do everything a normal smartphone can do
Totally agree, I really enjoy a good RTS and I'd love to find one on my phone that isn't feature poor, P2W, a micro-transaction farm, etc.
Someone please just give me Red Alert or Sim City for $89.99.

if these are required then these new ampere cards, these should be like 3x plus the performance or nvidia's so called efficiency got demolished here
otherwise I dont see why adding more power is needed
am I missing something here?
arent we suppose to be trying to draw less power and get more performance as we go forward?
Unpopular opinion here: Does that mean that Samsung's 8nm node is really inefficient, Nvidia's architecture for Ampere doesn't scale well, or that they're operating outside the efficiency curve because they're concerned about Big Navi?
Additionally, why do they need 650W... How would you cool that monster of a GPU? I'm not sure the benefits of the single connector outweigh the cost.

Emulated x86 performance appears to be quite similar to ~3.0 GHz Haswell territory. Yikes!

I disagree, but they should be carefully managed if they are.
The problem is when you have Dave buying a security camera off of AliExpress, never updates the firmware and leaves the password as admin/admin

Honestly they played themselves.
Inb4, pRoPeR bLu-RaY PlAyErS aRe sO mUcH bEtTeR. They obviously aren't, kek.
For the budget stuff, no you might as well just go for a console but for most people a cheap blu-ray player might be more accessible. On the other end of the spectrum, consoles can't keep up with the image processing and audio DAC chips that are in some of the higher end Blu-ray players so if you've spent good money on you AV gear then why would you skip on the source?
This is just dumb though.

I think custom/customized AMD chips would have been the way to go but they want to make everyones life a pain
Yes, I'm 100% sure that's how it went down. The Senior Lead Team met for their Wednesday morning meeting and collectively went "Yeah, f**** everyone. Lets go ARM."

right but the software catalog was smaller and there wasn't as much cross platform cus powerPC was rare vs x86
this seems really stupid given they just refreshed this laptop
Na, Intel forced their hand. The reason they're making the switch is the same reason they made the switch from PowerPC to Intel in the first place.
They would likely have considered AMD, but with their own in-house resources and capabilities in chip design they probably wanted to go that route anyway as it would have given them complete control over their own destiny and development. That and ARM is so ubiquitous these days its probably not the hurdle it once was.

I'm starting to think that my Apple tax is really just a lawyer and settlement tax.

Well 1FPS to 2FPS is a 100% improvement.
You'll want to start in the BIOS. Just watch the many number of tutorials available on Youtube, but basically you increase your multiplier and core voltage slowly and methodically until you get a stable OC at the highest GHz available without thermal throttling.

Not every workload requires a million cores. These are effectively the same as the consumer CPUs but with working ECC. So ideal for use for small servers too. These would go against the Ryzen Pro, not Epyc.
... Which is hilarious, because they should be going against Threadripper

Someone at Microsoft fucked up for this to become a feature...
Codename for the internal project was probably 'Jarrad'

I suspect it was a last minute engineering/design issue that was corrected with a fix of paper, rather than a redesign of the mold for the base plate.
There may have been concerns about ingress causing longevity issues as so they decided to seal the vent well past final design being signed off.

I can't imagine many people are going to be shelling out $1k+ for a pro-grade lens to bolt to a $50 sensor module, but having the option is pretty cool. For anyone who already has a lens like that "laying around", this setup should provide some interesting opportunities that simply weren't possible before.
I am literally one of those people.... EF 70-200mm F2.8/L IS USM II. From the days when I thought I could turn a hobby into a career.

hey even here in the US with all our data caps being lifted (we totally needed them to keep the network alive right) we still doing just fine. I'm not quite getting my full 120/120 in the day but I only pay for 100/100 so geting 85/85 is okay
don't get me started on rants of people not calling stuff the right name. I've wanted to yell at people who can't remember to call a SSD an SSD not any storage drive a HDD.
My girlfriend still calls my computer the screen

I really like the expandable NVMe storage in the PS5, but the Xbox looks like it's going to runaway with the power crown. Given that this gen is all about 4k gaming, it's concerning how little power the PS5 appears to have on paper. I guess we'll have to wait to see what optimisation magic they can pull, or if they meant CTR at 4k/60.

I'm looking forward to see what developers can do with the new sensors and power in the iPad.
That i5 rMBA with 16GB RAM looks like the perfect upgrade for me.

Correct, you can't direct your users to circumvent Apple's payment system. You can however have payment options outside of the App Store and then allow the user to login. An example would be walking into Wallmart and the store clerk directing you to go to the supplier to avoid Wallmart making 30% GP on the goods they're reselling.
Alternatively, if they do allow you to use external payment methods then Apple would have to request the revenue generated outside of App Store payments by iOS users for every app on the App Store and then send an invoice for the 30% cut to every publisher which would likely incur increased fees to enable Apple to manage the system. And even then, that's assuming that the companies are not being fraudulent in their reporting, so on top of that you would also have to audit the publishers to ensure enforcement of ToS.
