  1. And the most important thing that makes any Pixel the best phone on the market - continued support directly from Google. No delays for new OS, no stop on updates when the new Pixel is released.
  2. Well I mainly game and 3440x1440p, so 8c is more than enough. Was considering a 9700k as an upgrade over my 4790k due to the soldered TIM, single thread performance, and OC potential. Would be nice to get some of the newer features like USB-C, USB 3.1, Thunderbolt, etc. too.
  3. Yeah, but because it's apples for apples AMD/Intel comparison in NZD it is Intels problem. GST/Exchange rate can't be a factor in the price difference because we're comparing in NZD.
  4. Pricing is NZ is $730 for the i7-9700K and $950 for the i9-9900k. For comparison, R7 2700X is $530. AMD also comes with cooler. Intel is pulling a Nvidia. Zen 2 can't come soon enough!
  5. A topic for a different thread, but I feel like PPI is all that should be discussed when talking about phone screens. 326 - Apple iPhone 8 326 - Apple iPhone Xr 458 - Apple iPhone Xs 570 - Samsung S9 432 - Huawei P20 403 - Nokia 6.1 402 - OnePlus 6 So yeah, it's on the low side particularly for a $750 phone. But having owned numerous Android phones for work and my own personal range of iPhone's, I've never found the pixel density and sharpness of the screens lacking. Because this is a mobile device, the trade-off for higher resolutions screens is also battery life; something I think Apple has balanced well with their arguably anemic batteries.
  6. The low light performance of the P20 blew me away in Anandtech's camera review of the Xs Yeah... Apple is leagues ahead of any Android phone in terms of hardware acceleration, compute, and raw performance. Awwwwh, c'mon @Ryan_Vickers I typically enjoy your contributions, but did you even read (the admittedly long and detailed) review? It's based on single thread performance in one test. From Anandtech using SPEC2006:
  7. The return of hard copy games Was it Mass Effect? I had the same problem, and GTA V had a 22GB update after my install which killed me on 7mbps rural copper ADSL. UPlay is particularly bad, my friend and I played Ghost Recon: Wildlands. He bought his copy through steam, and I bought mine through Uplay. My updates were 12GB, his were 4GB.
  8. I'm usually pretty good at writing responses: Fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuck.
  9. For the Mobius, about 10 hours. All the others will give you between 20-30.
  10. Should take a listen to the Audeze iSine 10/20 and LCDi4....
  11. I did this about a year ago, and without writing a long post about it I'll give you a short list to try: Disclosure, my listening is more fun with a great sound stage. My daily's are: Sony MDR-1000X, Astro A50 (soon to be Audeze Mobius), Audeze LCD-X, and Audeze iSine 20 Sony WH-1000XM3 (I went with the Original MDR-1000X) Bose QC35 - The industry standard, very good headphone with great features Sennheiser PXC550 (could also try the Sennheiser HD 4.50 BTNC) - light on bass, great detail B&O H9i - Nothing compares to how these are built/look/feel, sound is good, app is okay B&W PX - Big bass, not too bad detail, built well Basically the B&W PX and B&O H9i have the most flare when it comes to looks/feel, but both seem to be tuned towards the low end IMO (likely due to being used in noisy areas where low end vanishes first in my experience). Sony/Bose are both great headphones, I found the Sony to give a tighter base response and have a little more detail. Reviews found the noise cancelling to be on-par or better than the QC35. None of these are headsets, but are great headphones for people on the go. If you're after something more versatile and for gaming, I've just ordered the Audeze Mobius which will have everything you want except noise cancelling. I haven't tested it yet, so I'm relying on my experience with other Audeze products and the plethora of reviews around (I have Astro A50's for my headset at the moment).
  12. A city of the future Pablo Escobar would be proud of.
  13. I don't think Apple will ditch lightning anytime soon, but the rumor mill has USB-C as a possibility. I would be surprised if we don't see a very quick adaption of Apple's standard for audio over USB-C if that's the case. That said, it'll still involve their LAM chip or similar.
  14. A first gen R7 1700 would likely be a good pick if you're budget oriented and streaming from the same machine. The additional cores/threads will really help.
  15. That has to be the ugliest shroud since the early 2000's.
  16. Agree. Thought I'd ask the question though as some people swear by it. I'm almost sure it's the new in-line DAC, which is superbly disappointing but ehh. What can you do?
  17. Hi Team, I've ordered a spare Cipher cable from Audeze while shopping for some extra parts, and headphones because the shipping to NZ is so god-damn expensive. Thought I'd try out the new Cipher V2 cable against my metal/ribbon cable V1. Well damn, the V2 sounds grainy, more muddled, and less transparent. Anyone else having a similar experience moving from the Cipher V1 to the Cipher V2? Is it the new DAC or AMP they're using? I'm using Audeze iSine 20.
  18. I can feel the Apple lawyers jizzing in their pants over this settlement from New Zealand. At least Samsung reworded the homework when they copied it. Aside from when they didn't:
  19. $148.23 USD. So worse than Canadian Rubles? Maybe we'll dub it the New Zealand Peso.
  20. I sold my iPhone 6 64GB with a replacement battery for $225 NZD. In hindsight, I could have gotten more...
