  2. Hello all, I just purchased the lg34um65, it was on a newegg flash sale for $460.00. I was wondering, I'll be using it with a sapphire radeon r9 285 (the short, single fan version). What's the best performing connection type I should use?
  3. New Egg with this deal Here is a great deal on the LG 29UB55-B Black 29" 5ms HDMI UltraWide LED Backlight LCD Monitor IPS panel 250 cd/m2 DCR 5,000,000:1 (1000:1) built-in speakers , http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=24-025-038 I found.
  4. I'm in ny too, so for 300 is it definitely a bargain?
  5. Does it direct us to a different link? For me it's showing up as $299.99 us dollars.
  6. Hello all, I'm a bit of a newbie, this looks like an insane deal, but I honestly don't know if this particular model was bad, or slow, etc. Any advice as to whether this deal is too good to be true? http://m.newegg.com/Product/index?itemnumber=20-148-696
  7. I just meant that the newer multi cored processors could easily handle the load of the cpu hungry software I use.
  8. That just goes to show the level, and amount of class, this forum has to offer!
  9. I just wanted to say a general thank you to the forum. I'm a composer, and two months ago I decided I was tired of how sluggishly my loud, 5 year old Dell xps 8300 was running my composition software, so, after some research I found out that there are newer processors with specific capabilities for the particular tasks I would need. The only catch was pricing. A daw (or digital audio workstation) worth it's salt (six core hyperthreaded processor for the cpu hungry sonar x2, and at least 32 gigabytes of ram to drag around all those raw samples and keep about 200 ewql instruments running simultaneously) would cost me about $3400 with some ssd and silent performance bells and whistles. I'm not rich. After more research, I found pcpartpicker, with it's compatibility filter, that I could put together a machine with everything I need at less than $1500. But I had no idea how to go about building a computer from scratch. After hours of YouTube videos I found linus tech tips. Game Changer. After Linus's silent gaming video I knew I wanted the be quiet base 800 and the dark rock pro 3 (except I left the fans on) and it turns out ncix had all the be quiet products on special last week so I grabbed both of them at about 35 percent off! Microcenter, has an in store special, the i75820k with an asrock x99 extreme4 mobo and a 2 year warranty for $566 after tax. Newegg has obscene specials all the time too, so, I nabbed a 750 watt evga 80+ bronze psu for under $60, a Samsung 500gb ssd for $178 and a 32gb g.skill 2400mhz ddr4 kit for $250. I tore the 1tb hdd and dvdrw drive out of an older dead computer I had laying around for some free extra storage and a free disk drive. I also splurged $215 (after rebate) on the sapphire radeon r9 285 (the short, single fan model). Then on these Linus tech tips videos that were well produced, informative, instructional, and, enjoyable, he mentioned this forum. And people answered all my noob questions immediately, without noob shaming! So, earlier today, after a ton of work and troublesome troubleshooting (that's a lot of trouble) I was able to finish my first build. Thank you all so much!
  10. After tons of troubleshooting on my own I got everything working! You guys are the best!
  11. Okay, so I unmounted the dark rock pro 3 and tested each dimm separately. They all worked! So, I tested each dimm addition until all for posted. It was hard work, it was a project and a half (last night I burned a 750 watt evga psu!) But I finally got my build to work! I want to thank you and everyone who provided advice!
  12. That's the thing, ever since I tested them in the other slots it just doesn't send a signal to the monitor anymore, even in the configuration that initially posted one dimm
  13. Sorry, not games, fans, the fans were going, autocorrect.
  14. Hey everyone, just wanted to start by thanking everyone on my previous posts for all the help and info. I'm attempting my first build, the core components are the i75820k (cooled by the be quiet dark rock pro 3, this will come in to play), 32gb's g.skill ripjaw series 2400 mhz ddr4 ram on an asrock x99 extreme4 mobo. When I first powered it on I noticed only one of the ram sticks was showing up in the bios, so to diagnose, as this it's my only x99 and ddr4 hardware, I was lucky enough that the one dimm posting happened to be on the side of the heatsink I could get under. When I swapped sticks from slots a1 and b1 the system wouldn't post, the power was running fine, the games were going, but nothing was posting to the monitor. Strange part was, when I put the dimms back into the configuration that got me at least one posting, the same thing happened, i.e. power, fans, lights but no post to the monitor. Any ideas out there as to whether this is the ram or the mobo? Thanks again everyone for all the information.
