Ryzone reacted to Tundral in gsync in 2020
The benefit of true G-SYNC was that it was the only way of getting VRR on Nvidia before they opened it up. Nowadays unless you're going for G-SYNC ultimate or need HDR or something it doesn't really matter if you get a G-Sync compatible or a G-SYNC proper monitor. I have both and I haven't observed any noticeable difference in the quality of the VRR

Ryzone reacted to DrM in Helping friend plan new build need help
no need for cpu cooler on locked chip, it comes with a stock cooler. i wouldnt spend more on a samsung ssd at this budget, though its up to you. no need for such an expensive mobo either. wait for the rx 480, that will offer much better price to performance. and windows can be bought for $30 on kinguin

Ryzone reacted to deemon in Question about Dolby Atmos
When you say Dolby Atmos, for most of the people this mean usually some 7.1.4 speaker setups (7.1 with 4 ceiling speakers) or better, not some simulated surround represented in traditional stereo in your headset. Overwatch uses Dolby Atmos for headphones which is entirely different thing than Dolby Atmos. By watching the video from your link, it does look like that the "Dolby Atmos for headphones" is just another newer/better Dolby Prologic or something... surround sound converted the best way possible to your normal 2.0 headphones. Whereas "Dolby Atmos" is actually true surround sound with 12+ speakers around your room.
SO to your original question... because it's outputted as normal stereo, then YES, your normal DAC/AMP or whatever you use with your normal stereo headphones will work with Dolby Atmos for headphones with Overwatch. And as far as I know Overwatch does not have support for true Dolby Atmos. Just the emulated stuff for headphones.

Ryzone got a reaction from MITK in Acer Predator XB271HU QC
1) Use this for frame skipping test at 144Hz and 165Hz http://testufo.com/#test=framerates
2) Use this to check for dirt and dead pixels http://jasonfarrell.com/misc/deadpixeltest.php (Click on a color and press F11)
3) Last test is to make your room as dark as possible. Put on the black screen from the second link and check for BLB = Back Light Bleed
Good luck to you, hopefully you got a golden panel!

Ryzone got a reaction from isbilly in ISO ultra wide monitor mostly for gaming
LG is pumping out some new UW's soon that will be shown at CES early next month. I'm hoping maybe another gsync UW gets announced. I might sell my dual 980 ti's and switch to team red, because there's just so much much much more freesync options to choose from.

Ryzone reacted to sobe in so i got the Asus ROG swift 165hz IPS monitor
Because there was a time when they were the only ones that offered something like the PG278Q or the VG248QE that was far better priced than the BenQ alternatives. Also, we know you are ASUS biased, but you don't have to believe EVERYTHING you read. Sorry, but ASUS as a whole be it motherboard, video card, monitor, laptop, are WELL KNOWN for their absolute abysmal customer service, it's been established by their prior F+ BBB rating all in regards to it with no resolution for people waiting up to 8months for a product they RMA'd.
That said, ASUS is a lot bigger than most so they will have more complaints per product than others, that's a given, however when you compare directly their monitors, the PG278Q was a HORRIBLE product for the end-consumer, it may have been a step in the right direction and hell, a good panel, but the quality control was absolutely horrendous and ASUS SHOULD have learned, but they haven't. Acer came out with the XB270HU with spotty as fuck quality control, it was pretty damn bad, but halfway through the year, Acer fixed their qc issues.. ASUS, of whom has had a panel out for more than twice as long, STILL to this day has yet to fix their qc issues, and yet, they put out the PG279Q, which is a beautiful monitor mind you, but the quality control is yet again the same, and far worse than Acer. Now, Acer has the XB271HU with quality control that makes ASUS look like what Acer used to be viewed as, budget brand crap with a high price.
I like the look of the ASUS more than I do the Acer, and I've stated it before, if I was buying between the 270HU or the 279Q, I'd go with the ASUS and try the panel lottery for a good one. But now with the XB271HU out that has superior QC, there's simply no reason to go with ASUS. Of course, I'm not a fan of what Acer did with the crimson red coloring on the base.... But still, better quality control = happy customers.

Ryzone reacted to Drez in Acer X34 VS Asus 'Swift' PG279Q
In all honesty, it depends on what you're looking for. If you're competitive or just want the 144hz, go for the PG279Q. If you want a large ultrawide immersive screen, get the X34. It's always difficult advising people what to get. I know I've asked these questions myself and one person would sway me one way and another person another way. It all comes down to personal preference. You'll find in not only this forum but all tech forums, some people swear by 144hz and others swear by 21:9 ultrawide. It's one of those things you kind of have to experience for yourself to know what you like. Either way, you can't go wrong. They're both amazing monitors.
You have the machine to power both. Some AAA titles you may not get the full 100hz on the X34 at 3440x1440. Again as stated by JSG509, your mileage may vary. I know this isn't a ton of help, but hopefully it gives you something.

Ryzone reacted to jjar35 in Which gaming monitor are you getting / using?
didn't even know about the PG279Q (so thanks for that!). I am going to be purchasing the Acer X34 predator sometime early next year, and now ill be looking into the PG279Q as well as the PG348Q for gaming.

Ryzone got a reaction from Stefan1024 in Asus PG279Q (2560x1440, 144Hz, IPS): better alternatives?
I did get to see the MG279Q and it does look very pretty. The colors are very vibrant, but this is the freesync IPS version.

Ryzone got a reaction from Elektroschocker in So where is the Asus pg279q?
Yeah that's what I'm thinking. I think if your going from a 60hz to a 144hz+ monitor, your performance in FPS games is going to go up no matter if it's 2ms vs 4ms.

Ryzone got a reaction from Elektroschocker in So where is the Asus pg279q?
Glad you are liking the PG279Q. What monitor were you using before?
