  1. My bad for not putting price in original post. I am looking at spending around 500 USD for the upgrade. The power supply I am using is here : https://pcpartpicker.com/product/g63RsY/evga-power-supply-120g10650xr
  2. Hello! Currently I have a i7 4790k with an RTX2080, but I am looking to upgrade the cpu. To upgrade my cpu I am going to have to upgrade my ram and motherboard also, as the i7 I have uses the LGA1150 socket. I was wondering what cpu, motherboard and ram you would recommend. For resolution and refresh rate, I play at 1440p 165hz. Also, after upgrading, would a 600w power supply suffice? Or do I need to upgrade that? Thanks!
  3. A few weeks ago, I got a few recommendations for a $700-$800 build for a gaming pc, as a friend of mine is looking to get into pc gaming. Here is the thread: Another friend of mine upgraded his computer recently and has been looking to sell some of the parts of his old one. He's looking to sell an i5-4460, an MSI Z97 motherboard, an NZXT S340 case, 8gb of ddr3 1600 ram, and an R9 390 for $450. Would it be better to purchase entirely new parts, or to buy these parts for $450 and then finish that computer? My friend has no problem on the parts being used, just wondering what the better deal is. Thanks!
  4. Hello! It's been a while since I've last put a parts list together, and I'm a bit behind on all the new stuff that has come out. I'm looking for a build that will be used primarily for gaming, somewhere in the 700-800 USD price range. This is for a friend of mine that wants to get into pc gaming, so he does not have any of the components/peripherals needed. If you all could give me some pointers, that'd be great.
  5. He said he would rather have the 144hz than 4k, but that is an interesting take.
  6. It's been a while since I've been here, or looked at the new tech stuff in general, so I'm a bit out of the loop on this one. This is for a friend that wants to build a computer he can play VR on, along with regular games. He is going to need a monitor and a keyboard, he already has a mouse and headset. He lives in the US, his budget is $1400-$1600, as stated in the title. My questions would be, how much ram would he need? Is 16gb overkill for VR? I also don't know anything about the new AMD Cpu's and graphics cards, so I just recommended the ones in the build below. As for storage, he is planning to buy a hard drive in the future, once he needs it. 7. I need a $200-$300 Facebook machine for friend of mine. I was wondering what you all would recommend. He won't be doing anything more intense than web browsing.
  8. @vorticalbox How would I combine the audio then?
  9. @Wolther I'm trying to do that so I can share audio between my computer and console for discord/music, and be able to swap between the console/computer easily without having to change inputs.
  10. I'm not sure if this is possible, but I wanted to ask you all. I'd like to know if I can input video and audio from something like a PS4 into my computer and run it into a window on my computer. Any ideas?
  11. Just making sure that this monitor would be what to buy for the the specs. Wanted to run it through you all before cashing out on it. I have a 980ti, so I should be able to take advantage of it. Link: https://www.amazon.com/PG279Q-2560x1440-G-SYNC-Gaming-Monitor/dp/B017EVR2VM?th=1
  12. Hehe, I should have specified. It is Ikea's shipping that is so expensive to my area, so I can't get any of their products.
  13. I'm looking for recommendations for a computer desk about the size of this. http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/10251352/ I would just buy that, if it weren't for the ridiculous shipping prices to my area. It needs to have adjustable height, and I don't need a tray or anything extra, just the desk. Thanks!
  14. He is putting it in a store, so he can't leave his phone there all the time.
  15. A friend of mine needs a laptop but all he needs to do on it is stream music. So I was wondering what the cheapest option without the thing being a piece of junk would be. I'm assuming a chromebook would work here fine too.
  16. I have this old Dell Inspiron that has now decided it won't boot. When I press the power button, the Dell symbol pops up with Inspiron under it, the loading bar fills, then the screen goes dark and does it again. Any ideas? The laptop is running windows 7.
  17. wow I had no idea, and I've never seen one in a store, not that I go to any stores... My bad Not sure why you would want a disk though other than if you internet is to slow to download any games.
  18. There's plenty to choose from, you can't really go wrong when choosing an optical drive. http://pcpartpicker.com/parts/optical-drive/
  19. You can't "download" drivers using a cd And pc games aren't sold on disk anymore But something as simple as this should work http://pcpartpicker.com/part/asus-optical-drive-drw24b1stblkbas
  20. I'm pretty sure that's not correct.
  21. I'd say probably for all the reasons stated above. I think it looks better imo

    S340 fans

s340 comes with 2 fans one on back and one on top of the case. Should I move one to the front for intake? Both are currently pushing air out. I don't have any extra.
  23. My friend and I are about to go about building his first custom pc, and I was wondering what the best free antivirus would be. I use a paid software, and he doesn't want to pay for his. Thanks
  24. Make sure your display port or hdmi cable isconnecting to the 960 and not the motherboard
