NicolaZanarini got a reaction from Castdeath97 in working title "bumblebuild"
Rig finally upgraded fromthe old z77 and 3570k to the z97 and i7 4790K!
Also moved away from the old prototype case and into this one.
Specs:
AsRock Z97M OC Formula
Core i7 4790K
32GB DDR3 Hyper X FURY
Zotac GTX970
2 x 2TB HDDs
120GB HyperX SSD
240GB Kingston SSD
2 x Noiseblocker 120mm eLoop fans
2 x Noiseblocker 120mm Multiframe
(these are from a sponsor)
Arctic Freezer LP11 (sponsor)
CX600M (I know, I know, it's from the old rig, will be the next thing to be upgraded)
Case - Defcon One by Hydra
This is the "air" version of the build - in a while I'll likely add more yellow details to the case and put an AiO solution for the cooler since I'd like to keep the 4790K at 4.5 in daily use.

Great build. I would like to see more pics of the case at different angles

NicolaZanarini got a reaction from mikeeginger in Hydra Desk presentation Mod
Hello guys!
We've gotten started on our Hydra Desk presentation mod, with the help of goodies from noiseblocker and aquatuning and a few others we'll introduce later
Here is the first phase - painting the fans to match the color of the pastel green liquid from mayhem's that we'll be using in the loop.
We made a cnc machined "fan rear protector" for the paint operation, as masking take was being a pain to apply properly.
For those worries about the paint on the fans, we, ran the numbers and it causes no problems at all
Most of the loop will run inside a custom-made plexiglass "routing space" and will show the log in the main "reservoir area"will post pics and renders further on.)
Next we put the radiators up: there 4x360mm radiators in the right leg and an additional 480mm radiator for the left side interior.
they all fit quite nicely and we're glad about the choice of leaving the rubber pads white, as it provides a cool contrast once mounted.
Stay tuned for more updates

NicolaZanarini got a reaction from Andrew Storlie in Hydra PC cases and Desk Cases Crowdfunding
Actually, since all the panels can be detached, there is no need to move it to place the hardware (the glass surface yes, but with 2 people it's pretty easy.
And I would assumes, as it's common with tables, that it would stay in one place once assembled (once the package made it upstairs it stays there sort-of-thing).
The case is the only thing being offered int he crowdfunding the PC render is just for demonstration purposes

Hey guys!
I wanted to bring your attention to this project, currently crowdfunding to start manufacturing which is currently being discussed on Toms Hardware
http://www.tomshw.it/news/defcon-one-il-case-italiano-cerca-fondi-per-la-produzione-75534
We've spent the past year working on these projects and pretty exited to finally have them ready for manufacturing!
Here are some renders of what they will look like and if you want to contribute to the campaign, here is the link https://igg.me/at/hydracrowdfunding
Will update the thread with more news and articles as they come out

Looks like a great alternative to the now discontinued Red Harbinger Desk

Carbon fiber and a little resin. And the steel was paper-thin then.

Also a reason not to add them "stock"

Ah right, forgot the L shaped part
Ah I see well, maybe we'll make something like that in the future, who knows

Okay, there's a difference between dropping a logitech or Dell keyboard on a steel case vs. dropping the equivalent of a mortar brick.

The glass is indeed a two man job, since it's 8mm thick and tempered, but in all our testing it's never been an issue once 2 people were there
The metal structure comes in 3 piece in the box, but can actually be entirely disassembled if need be (for modding) since there are no rivets or welding (a pain to design, but the result is worth it).
About the wheels...well, actually the first, or maybe second time anyone had that concern tbh -

NicolaZanarini got a reaction from Anthony_95 in New build - behold the double windowed, SLI powered Defcon One
Hey guys! So, after a long time developing it, finally we're getting around to building the rigs for our crowdfunding supporters.
This version of the case is 99% final, just some minor tweak like cable routing and Plexiglas centering, but overall the design is finished.
With a full build inside you can see what I meant in earlier posts about the Defcon One"showing off both the GPU and the motherboard, without one getting in the way of the othe
As you can see we've used a long SLI cable and PCI-E rizers for the GPUs.
This is the setup for this one:
ntel Core i7 4790K
Enermax Liquimax II 120
AsRock z97m Fatality Killer
SSD Crucial 250 GB
SSD Crucial 500 GB
2x GTX980 SLI
PSU BeQuiet 800W 80+ gold
Now enough blabbing and let's get to the pics, both of the final result and the assembly process.

The design is fairly unique, and yeah, i can see why it would not appeal to all - the main "strenght" are the 2 compartments and the visible GPUs
Dust filters can be placed, but we won't provide them stock, as after gathering feedback many users said it would ruin the looks, so we'll leave it to the individual to add
Thanks we hope to get it out on the shelves soon!
hehe
Thanks

looks fancy
great idea so the gpu heat wont really affect the other components
how about possible mesh instead of the cutouts this should deliver a better airflow
