It's a really stupid idea, to be blunt. You're muuuuuuuuch better off buying things that are made for your hardware than trying to DIY it especially because it's your first time. Something will go wrong, everything will break, and you'll be sad.

A little education lesson for all you people who say you need to abolish the electoral college. And for those who feel the need to call BS all the time
The electoral college is something our founding fathers created because they didn't want a bigger state to overshadow a smaller states because of a population advantage.
It works similar on how the House of Representatives is chosen.
It was SPECIFICALLY created so states like California with 38.8 MILLION people can't overshadow a state like Maryland which has 5.9 MILLION people in it.
That is why democrats usually win the popular vote. Because their population is thick and concentrated in a few heavily populated areas like California, where 5.4 MILLION people voted for Clinton and 2.9 million voted for Trump.
In Texas, where 28 million people live, 4.6 million voted for Trump, while 3.8 million voted for Clinton.
9.2 million voted for Clinton between the two states, Trump had 7.3 million vote.
10 states have enough population to overshadow the other 40 states. Those are California, Texas, Florida, Illinois, Pennsylvania, Ohio, Georgia, Michigan and North Carolina.
10 states hold 178 million million people. Way over half the population.
That is why the founding fathers created the electoral college. So 10 states cannot overwhelm the other half of the country. Because when 10 states hold half the population, why do the other 40 need to vote when their votes wont matter?

no matter what you get cpu will bottleneck the hell out of the system go for a 460 and try and get a better cpu that fits that socket otherwise a better gpu is pointless

Programmer here. Processing power really isn't that important. You can write C code on a 15 year old computer. The thing I would recommend most to increase build times is a SSD. Most of the build time is the HDD searching for random small files. A i5 would be fine. If you're doing virtual machines, then I'd recommend a i7+16gb of ram. None the less, the most important thing is having a SSD.

Neither of these require more than 1 core because these are single threaded usages. The speed of your workload will scale with clock speed and not more threads. While there are jvm s that can use tons of horsepower, the average person won't be using them. Get lots of ram though. That does help.

jhurst117 reacted to alphaproject in 1060 Price
Anyone who pays a lot for the 1060 is a moron. It's the lowest Pascal card at the moment and we don't really know where the card lies vs the 970/980 and RX 480 besides a few early rumors. I would trust the reviews that hit really close to the launch date but not the early ones.

At the moment, we all know the Titan P and 1080 Ti are coming so why anyone pays more for ANY of the Pascal cards from this moment on would be fools. You don't have the benefit of bragging rights anymore saying you just bought the 1070 or 1080 and the 1060 is supposed to be the "budget" card. I just can't fathom paying $300 for a card when the 980 Ti will beat it for $399 or heck $350 used.

It's pretty much identical to the Z97 other than the fact it doesn't have support for SATA Express and M.2. - so the Z87 will essentially overclock exactly the same as a Z97.
