SirWendall reacted to Droidbot in Only 100 FPS in CSGO?
CSGO only uses 3 cores and the fourth is used during loading. Probably why. Turn off HRTF in Audio settings. Set thread priority to high by setting launch options (-high, -threads 8)

GPU boost 3.0
Overclocks automatically to the highest safe clock speed.
Mine overclocks to 2000 mhz by itself.
I manually oc'd it to 2100 mhz tho

SirWendall reacted to shutterrart in New Builder, asking for Advice
Hi, I am attempting to build my first computer. I have been a mac user for years but am switching my whole photographer workflow over to windows. I have limited knowledge on hardware, what I know if from youtube videos. I have put together a build check ( https://pcpartpicker.com/list/GWwgqk ) which says the components should work together. My big question is whether it is too much, just right, or not enough? My workflow consists of running Lightroom, Photoshop and other Adobe CC programs, Nik Software, Macphun (which prob isn't on a pc, idk) and on1 software. I am planning on getting into Video Editing but I know nothing about what programs to use let alone what they will require yet. Any helpful advice is most welcome, thank you!

SirWendall reacted to AlphaGamer46 in New Builder, asking for Advice
That PC is going to be more than perfect for a number of years after building.
With PC building, getting a PC that is either not enough or just right results in a bigger investment. As I say, spend more now to save later.
If you need any tips on building, feel free to ask. I've built a few myself, and know the ins and outs of building.
Hope this helps!

I'd get a GTX 1080 off eBay. You can get them Open Box or Like New for less. Last I seen them they were at $530 to $600

FX-6300 or i3-6100, unless you can wait for RyZen?

SirWendall reacted to vanished in CPU fan not working when on CPU header
If you just want a cheap fix, you can usually disable the CPU fan error in the BIOS settings.

SirWendall reacted to vmalheiros in 4 sticks of 8gigs on Z270 mobo
Guys I was retarded enough to buy 32 gb of ram in 4 sticks of 8 Gigs for an asus z270 motherboard. What do I do now, other than killing myself?

SirWendall reacted to DoggyDogger in Q6600 will not boot with 2x4GB memory
Well, I just found out that the 2GB 1333Mhz stick underclocks itself to 1067Mhz... The motherboard works fine with the other cpu (e3400) it originally came with. That cpu did accept the 8GB 1333mhz in both slots...

SirWendall reacted to Coombzy in How to download windows 10 onto a usb, and then onto a PC
I'm not entirely sure how this can be done easily on a mac, Microsoft themselves have a tool for downloading Windows 10 to USB but you need a Windows machine as its an EXE file. https://www.microsoft.com/en-gb/software-download/windows10

SirWendall reacted to RadiatingLight in 980ti @ 3440*1440
Why would you not directly support Nvidia again? just wondering.
AMD is IMO the better company, and it's really awesome that they open-source their technologies, but NVidia makes good cards with solid performance.

SirWendall reacted to kelvinhall05 in Working on a mini build!
Well if you picked the 1050 ti for the price, I would wait until an RX 470 goes on sale (you can buy one for around $150 with a MIR).

I'm pushing it more. Seems stable so far. May just have a bipolar card

I think I've pushed it as far as it'll go now
If I push the core past +120MHz it downclocks my boost. Even though I'm watercooling I hit 1532HMZ (boosted) but if I OC higher the boosted MHz goes down. My memory is too touchy to play with.

@Enderman In my case, the PSU was fine. I had it in my personal rig until Christmas and then swapped to an EVGA 750w.

@Enderman True. He may have better luck than me

I finally hit the max with my 660Ti. I have the core running @ 1241MHz and the memory running @ 3105MHz +120 to the core and +100 to the memory! Temps are maxing at 43C to 44C!

Have you verified that both sticks work? Try different memory slots.

What about the motherboard itself? Does it support your specific RAM? Did you check the list for it?
