Just as a troubleshooting step, try disabling hardware acceleration in Opera/Chrome and see what that does.

right now with only discord and steam open, CPU 75F GPU 91F. I honestly don't think its a overheating issue, I have 8 fans in the case

Any high temps will damage anything, but as long as there is adequate air flow going to the GPU, it should be fine. Also, if that happens, normally the GPU will throttle itself in performance to save it from climbing any higher in temp.

3060ti has GDDR6 not GDDR6X. Temperatures are not a problem (this doesnt mean they wont die if you overheat them though, at stock operation this wont be a problem)

SirWendall reacted to TheRoyalTed in DIY GPU Fans
Ever since I bought my Evga Rtx 3070ti, it has run hot. At best it was 78-79c. At it's worst it was 84-85c. On top of that, a few months into using it, on of the fans started making horrible noise, so not wanting to wait on it getting sent back Evga and be out of a pc for that time, I just replaced it myself. A month later, a new fan starts making a horrible noise. I'm sure it's not recommended, but I just took out one fan and ran it with only 2 for awhile, which was ok temps wise. It wasn't much worse at least. I finally decided to try and diy something better myself and after seeing that ltt video where they strapped some fans to a gpu, I went with that.

I found these 92mm Noctua fans which seemed like they were about right, and once I got them, they were absolutely perfect. I couldn't have imagined a better fit. I removed the old fans, and I was going to leave the shroud off, but it seemed like it would be better to leave since I would have a better surface to attach the fans. They are double sided taped on with some strong high temp rated stuff, and I cut down a tube from a pen to relieve some of the gpu sag, which wasn't any worse than before, but it seemed like a good idea. It's actually much more level than the picture makes it look. I think it came out fairly clean looking, besides the wires, but that doesn't bother me much. Now my temps are peaking at 79c under heavy loaded for over 30 minutes, but they average about 76-77c. The temps also used to shoot up immediately to 80c, but now it behaves more like an aio since the fans aren't temp controlled for now, and slowly climbs and settles at 77c after about 10-15mins. Even with the fans only going 80-85% speed, it's still substantially quieter than the stock fans at even half speed..

If you're good with diy's, don't mind almost definitely voiding your warranty, and in need of a new gpu cooler, absolutely go for it. I feel much better about gaming for longer sessions now that I know I'm not gonna fry my gpu. I'll update if there's any issues or the double sided tape gives, but everything's running solid for now.

Any cooler that is under 165mm NZXT says will fit.

The D15 is 165mm with the fan. If you have high profile ram and have to move the fan up at all, it won't fit. I wouldn't count on it fitting.
    https://noctua.at/en/nh-d15/specification
The Assassin 3, is also 165mm, so the above still applies.
    https://www.gamerstorm.com/product/CPUAIRCOOLER/2019-05/1287_11125.shtml
Theoretically, they both exactly fit. If NZXT went with exact measurements and anything doesn't fit correctly, they won't though.
Here is a build with D15 and LPX ram. It can fit, it's just very tight. Apparently the fan housing does touch the glass.

The H510's manufacturer specs list a maximum cooler height of 165mm. Both the NH-D15 and the Assassin III are stated by their respective manufacturers to have a height (with fans) of... 165mm.

I do see some competed builds on PCPartPicker with NH-D15's (or D15S's) in H510's/H510 Flows and some of them mention in the writeup the cooler is touching the glass. Can't find any with the Assassin III.

I mean if you have the money to upgrade then why not? If you deem it worthy of upgrading then do so. If you know you won't be strapped for cash later down the road then I don't see why not. Just don't put yourself out over it.

AMD has found what works now. I'm sure with the adoption of DDR5 and AM5 socket/chipset they'll have a baller CPU lineup soon for us. Now if only they'd apply that to their GPU lineup as far as drivers then AMD would rule both markets.

well i feel very dump now...
after much testing i still couldn't figure out the problem
until i noticed a red flashing light on the 3080ti...
i have a corsairTX850M PSU and the card is connected with 3x 8-Pin of which one is splitted
i think the problem is the card can't get enough or the right amount of power from the PSU
so i ordered a EVGA SuperNOVA 1000 P5 1000W PSU which has the capability for three independent 8-Pin Cables
let's see if this solves the problem but i'm pretty sure this is why everything is kind of weird with my system

Edit: i didn't see it at first cause the card is vertically monted and i mounted a corsair watercooling block on it 🙂

Cap the framerate instead of running at unlimited. Unlimited causes some issues for me. 1440p I kick it down to medium and keep around 120FPS in BTB.

Game needs a driver from Nvidia badly. 343 has been working with AMD, so it might be a while.

I'm playing at 1440p, using a 2060, i5 10400f, 16gb RAM, and I've been playing around with the settings a bit too so I can see what works and what is my ultimate preference.

I can get a nice 90-100 fps on the 4v4 mode if I drop most stuff to medium and low, or a bit lower fps on the bigger, high player count game mode.
Or, if I turn some stuff up and improve the general visual aspect, it's more like 75ish in 4v4 and 60 in the bigger game mode.

I'm not sure which I prefer, as the visuals aren't that spectacular to begin with so a minimal difference is probably worth the extra fps - though the fps isn't as important in this as it would be in something like Warzone or Apex.
There's a lot of confusion about exactly what are the optimal settings and it will, obviously, vary greatly depending on the resolution you are playing at, your settings, what you are willing to accept as a minimum fps etc...

My advice is prioritise fps until you are at or over at least 60 and then decide if visuals are more important than performance after that.
