Hello there! It's finally time for a new update as the new graphic cards have arrived and are slotted into the motherboard, so I thought I'd post a new update including some of the watercooling supplies and the new GPU's inside the computer, unfortunately this update was slightly delayed as I first ordered 2 Gainward GTX 970 cards and quite quickly changed my mind and went for the EVGA 970's instead. As they had much better looking waterblocks.
But now the cards are here and the build can finally continue! The waterblocks for the GPUs and CPU will be purchased this weekend hopefully and you can surely expect some more modding throughout the coming updates.

Hello there! I'm back after a short break as I'm mostly waiting for ny parts, finally the new CPU block has arrived and already recieved a rusty finish, most of the watercooling parts will be given some kind of touch to suit the build a bit better but I'm uncertain on what I will be doing to the components as I do not want to overwhelm the build with rust.

The new reservoir also arrived, though I can't make up my mind where to place it, I have a few ideas and I'm thinking of doing something a bit odd and make it poke out from the back of the PSU, what do you guys think?
The fan brackets have been removed and also got a rust finish, now I'm just waiting on some custom decals with different texts and logos to blend the rust a bit further. We're getting closer and closer to assembly!

Unfortunately I haven't recieved the GPU block yet as it has been delayed by the post office, but apart from that only a few modifications need to be done before I can start assembling everything. A big thank you to everyone who's following the buildlog
    I really appreciate your feedback.
    See you next week!

Hello there! I've fiddled around a bit more with the computer during this weekend and though that this would be a suitable time to post a little update regarding the waterblocks. All of the waterblocks have been mounted and test fitted on the motherboard for some glamour shots. I must say, I absolutely love the look of everything put together, and I think it will improve even more once the GPU blocks have gotten a few custom touches to fit in further.
The GPU blocks are currently untouched, but they are on the queue to get some custom touches in the modding department. Nothing huge but a few minimal changes to make it fit the look of the build.
Also, some good news! I spoke to BeQuiet! and we decided to send me one of their new PSU's from their Pure Power lineup, which I think will suit the build perfectly. So that will defintely be featured in the build log next week.
    Onwards to the pictures!

I wanted to make a small and powerful mITX rig. So I choose the coolest case I could find, a 2000 Power Mac G4.

The hardest part of this build was getting the CPU cooler in place. The stock chases uses a large heatsink that attaches to the mounting brackets so I had to cut out the heatsink but keep the brackets in place. Furthermore there isn't enough clearance between the brackets and the new heatsink so I had to hammer and cut the heatsink until it just barely fit.

Another issue I ran into was the GPU. Originally I went with a 750 TI for the low heat put. But I found out that PCI-e riser cables have trouble with power delivery. So luckily I was able to EVGA step-up my GPU to a 950 instead. Furthermore I went with a high quality shielded PCI-e riser cable from liheat48 on eBay. Great Seller, Highly recommended. If anyone is interested, the correct size for this case is 30cm.

@Costa The full cover block came out just about 2 weeks ago. I already had bought these before that. It does not make a difference because you will see the GPU's from the top and not the sides. Also they have no full cover motherboard/cpu waterblock for the motherboard. Also I was already worried about the amount of radiators vs components in the system and would not want to add any more heat to the loop.

I was asked to share my Deepcool TRISTELLAR Gaming PC Case Mod here. I created this mod  by their request to release as “Bill Owen” signature edition later this year. Here are all of the photos. Feel free to post any questions.

"This unique case disrupts the traditional concept of a PC case, splits components into three cabins; three high hardness “V” shape metal frames and full metal shells ensure Tristellar has a reliable and solid structure, the system is not only for an artistic appearance, but also a great cooling performance by separating the most heat-generating parts of a PC. The case supports the latest gaming configuration, it is an excellent choice for gamer or PC builder who want a case with both high performance and aesthetics."

To be honest, I'm not quite sure what it is they sent me.  Since I don't have the other components yet I don't really have a way of testing whether this thing functions or not.  I mean it genuinely looks like a proper card, with capacitors, resistors, soldered chips the lot.  The main difference is actually the cooler itself as it purely shares the same dimensions as the retail one, it looks completely different (much more basic).       You'll just have to wait and see...      It's 275x170x287mm (LxWxH) at its extremes     Cheers!  Yeah I can completely see where you're coming from.  I hate it when people don't try to make use of what 3D printing can offer over other construction methods.  I've done two smaller 3D printed cases for NUCs and with each I've tried to stick to the same principle.  Should prove interesting working at a larger scale than those.

The Enterprise Warp Drive will serve as our HD activity meter. I've cut Darkside RGB light strip to fit inside. I've modified the drive's door with clear acrylic window to view PowerLED mounted inside.

Removed top of HD/SSD bay. The Warp Drive will be attached to this for easy installation or removal.

I experienced wood warping a lot when building my first wooden case. It is usually caused by differences in humidity. But the humidity levels in our home are pretty constant. And I know some wooden parts will stil warp. So most of the internal part are dismountable and replaceable. The parts who don't, are reinforced with some extra wood.

And the glue I am using can hold up to 60 degrees celcius. The PSU will never succeed that temperature and that is the only area where it is realy important that the glue will hold. Other parts are also reinforced in other ways.

Reran the 5 way optimization auto overclock program from asus due to the fact I reset the motherboard back to default. Surprisingly I got all cores up to 4.7 instead of 4.5-4.6 last time, on the same amount of voltage which is really amazing. 8 cores running at 4.7GHz with a voltage of 1.308 1.32 maxing temps at 74 degrees on air. The cpu fan is only running at 500rpm so if I turned it up the max temp would be less. I'm excited to watercool the chip and I dare say I could get getter. Maybe a 4.9 if i'm lucky.

Edit: Was unstable on 1.3 voltage, turned it up to 1.32 and it seems to be stable. Will run for a few hours tomorrow.

I didn't sadly, it was a swift build and the photos I took were taking at 2am the day it was being collected for Kimko (my buddy I built it for). The cables are extensions, so it difficult to do the cleanest of work with cable management. I did a pretty good job, everything is easily accessible with no real cable mess, but not truly worthy of a photo. I may have some on my phone, I'm happy to share.

Just saw that and it has given my some doubt.

Fortunately I got the motherboard! Last night I was snooping around the internet looking at places to buy it, and I checked the australian company I normally use and it was in stock! They emailed me that morning and said "We do not have a current ETA of when this product will be available" yet a few hours later they got stock. I bought it straight away and it then went out of stock 30mins later. Hopefully I don't experience those issues that others are having but it also seems like a BIOS Flash fix. Got express delivery so hopefully it will be here in a few days, Ill photograph it and test it out then.
