It's called the public internet. You need to setup security measures to stop bots and crawlers. People will make crawlers that try every single public IP with default parameters like admin password for ssh and so on. If you aren't using ports close them, disabled functions that you don't use, also use something like fail2ban in tandem with iptables to protect yourself. I setup fail2ban and set my ssh parameters to block the IP forever if it failed more than twice in the timespan of 8 hours and I have over 40,000 IPs banned already. It's scary

It's impossible. GPT is drive format, not partition. Partitions are still NTFS or FAT.

I don't have experience with AMD graphics cards, but on the Nvidia side I can use NVENC to take the load off the CPU and put it on the GPU which greatly improves my performance. You should check if you have a similar option for an AMD card in the settings menu here:

Why not talk about backup? What happen if all your drive dies at same time, raid won't help.
 
Raid is mainly for performance boost and in-case if a drive break due to life and allow you buy new drive and replace array without losing data.

Currently if you want multiple remote desktop sessions you need windows server or a upcomming edition of windows 10.
 
Remote desktop is always a bit slow, so really id just get higher power laptops. WIll be much a much better experience, and with laptops like the xps 15 you get almost as much power in a thin and light package.

You can either use a program called "cheese" which I think is preinstalled, or create a simple Python program with openCV and perform calculations on the image.

Don't solder network cables together. Put ends on them, then get a female to female adapter.

After release of Threadripper 2990WX, I've been paying more attention to Linus Tech Tips videos with large number of cores. For example, like attached below. A problem with all these benchmarks is that for anything larger than 10 cores, the bottleneck in benchmark is not the hardware but the Windows operating system due to high cost of thread creation. As such, all the benchmarks are somewhat incorrect. It would be much more accurate to perform benchmarks with Linux as an OS and software like Linpack. I understand that the viewership of the channel is more interested in applications like Blender or Tomb Raider. And I appreciate the need to emphasize the performance of hardware on such applications. However, it would be nicer if a more complete picture was presented. 

With obvious slowdown in hardware gains in performance, CPU makers are going to go into more number of cores for the appropriate market. And linux benchmarks would be a good way of attracting those crowd which are currently catered to by phoronix benchmark suite.

I would highly recommend an IPS panel for any multimedia creation. The colors get really distorted from any slight angle with any of the other panel technologies. It depends how much gaming you're doing. I actually game on 60Hz screens because of the better colors I get while video editing. In the future I'd love to get a 4k 144Hz IPS G-Sync monitor but they're way too expensive right now.

However, stabilization is lens only. Quality is awesome for video, pretty good for photos. Its super light (mirror-less rocks), relatively easy to handle. Good low light as well. Lens options are good. Currently $500 on adorama (expires tomorrow but this isn't the first time it went on sale).

If you want something better, the G85 is an upgraded model with 5 axis in body stabilization and weather sealing. Apparently, auto focus was wierd, but was fixed in firmware updates. It also has a marginally better stock lens.

Just my two cents.

I agree 100%. I also have a G7 and the kit lens is really good considering it comes with the camera for $500. Unfortunately it doesn't have IBIS but it's not a problem for me, especially with wide angles lenses. It takes excellent video and good photos. I've found that the photos tend to be somewhat noisy above ISO 800 but it's certainly usable up to ISO 3200. For video it looks good all the way up to 3200.
 
For product advertisements you probably want a tripod rather than a gimbal, but you can buy excellent gimbals for around $700. Sometimes gimbals sell for as low as $300 but they're not always worth it. Please also remember that audio is very important, so don't skimp on it. Consider a Rode Video Mic Pro to sit on top of the camera, and for commercials if they're staged, use a boom pole above the presenter. A lot of people neglect audio. In my opinion it is equally as important as the video.

yea it will work fine, just put your favorite os for a nas on it and some drives and your good.
 
Price wise, its often cheaper to buy newer lower power hardware if pay for power.

Id go with a celeron here. You don't need much cpu here. 4 or 8gb of ram will be fine aswell.
 
For storage id go with 2x4tb drives, bigger drives are normally cheaper per tb, user less power and are faster. Raid 6 with 4 drives really don't make since either.
 
FreeNAS will work well here, unraid will also work fine.

For a microphone for gaming I'd recommend a modmic, but for multimedia production the Blue Snowball will be better. For a "gaming headset" I'd recommend just attaching a modmic to regular headphones, but if you must have a "gaming headset" I believe HyperX makes some good ones, such as the Cloud II.

Your games don't require 16GB.

If you already have a gaming PC, I'd recommend just buying a Steam Link and using in-home streaming. If not, it depends if you care about upfront cost or total cost. The PS4 is cheaper up front, but games and PS-Now will cost more in the long run. A PC will cost a lot upfront, but games will be cheaper and you don't need a subscription. Whichever you choose will give you a good couch gaming experience though. Have fun  

OBS, best recording software imo

I wouldn't buy two sticks of ram for a motherboard with only 2 slots. I would buy one 8GB stick right now and another one in the future when you want to upgrade, because soon, 8GB isn't going to be enough for gaming.

I personally back everything up locally and then have several partial backups on encrypted flash drives that I give to family members. Ideally I'd have 3 copies of every file, but for media it's normally just 2. You gotta decide what is the most important data and back that up multiple times.

I'd suggest getting a new one at that age because it's really a gamble. I've had hard drives fail sooner than 3 years after buying them and I still have working hard drives from about 10 years ago, so it varies a lot. However, you should have backups of all your important data anyway, no mater how new the hard drive is.
