If you visit Razer's home page, and clicked around to The Core, the url and product name is listed as Refurbished.
I think they are planning on releasing a Gen 2 of The Core!!!
I've been told there has been some serious USB3 power limits where it cant power the oculus rift, so you need to connect it to the Blade, which is ironically being powered by the Core.
Source 1: It could still be a power issue ... something's up with the USB chipsets in the Core
