  1. So I replaced the power supply today, and issue did not occur since replacing it. Hopefully issue will not come back but I will monitor it for now.
  2. Will do, store didn't have the PSU I wanted (Corsair RMx 850) so I will post when I have it, I ordered it online for instore pick up and got email saying it will be instock October 25, so I'll be shopping around. So far issue seems pretty intermittent making me think it is something power related. Yesterday I had no issues. But when I posted this thread it took anywhere between 1-5 attempts to boot when I restarted. Today it is happening anywhere between 1-5 times before it boots. If anyone has any suggestions for a similar or better PSU for ~150+tax in Canada I'll go pick it up right away lol.
  3. Sorry, I meant had same issues. I have not tried with just the second stick of RAM, I'm going to try that and check the slots. Aside from updating the bios I didn't touch anything in the bios settings. I'm not really sure what to check in there. I will probably get a new PSU tomorrow if I can find the one I want on sale. we'll see how that goes. --- I just ordered a Corsair RMx 850 PSU, but will be shipping to store. So when that arrives I'll try again.
  4. Unfortunately I don't have anywhere else I can plug this computer into, I moved it to another outlet in the same room and I had no issues. Also if it was power related I would assume it would affect my previous computer, but that worked perfectly fine. I checked the wiring to make sure nothing is loose/hanging or touching the mb. Also new update, I plugged the second stick of RAM and Asus PCE-ac68 wifi card back in, and its back to happening 3-4 times per boot before it boots. still using onboard GPU with GPU taken out.
  5. Just an update, I tired using the onboard GPU, 1 stick of RAM and remove the ASUS wifi card, removed the GPU. Its a bit more stable. Takes 0-1 attempts to boot up vs the 1-5 before, but issue still happening pretty consistently. @Septimus I was thinking it might have been related to the second EPS plug not being plugged in originally until pretty much 100% of people I've seen/asked and found online said it wasn't required. I don't know if it matters but this is the same PSU I used before upgrading. I was running i7 2600k Asus P8P67 deluxe mb 2x 4gb corsair vengeance ram. rest of the components were identical and I had no issues, and was running fine before I took apart that computer and rebuilt with new parts. @WereCat what do you mean by training RAM?
  6. Hi guys, I am experiencing an issue when I boot my computer it takes multiple attempts before it fully starts up. All the fans, hard drives and LEDs light up but it shuts right off after about 1-2 seconds. It repeats this anywhere between 1-5 times before it boots. When it boots it it works perfectly fine, I've run a stress test for ~1 hour with intel XTU and no issues. CPU temps run @ 26 degrees c idle and 66 degrees c under load (from XTU stress test) The motherboard has 2 EPS 8pin plugs on the top of the motherboard, my PSU only has 1. Through all the research so far, most people are saying the second is not required. I am using: CPU: i7 7700k MB: Asus ROG Maximus ix Apex (Bios 1010, just updated) RAM: 2x 8gb Mushkin blackline ram GPU: Gigabyte radeon r9 290 Antec high current gamer 750w Asus PCE-Ac68 PCIE wifi card PSU and GPU are from my previous build, PSU is about 5 years old and GPU is about 3 years old, the only new components are the ram, mb and cpu. I've tried updating the bios, clearing cmos, booting with nothing plugged in except the essentials (ssd, keyboard, mouse and monitor). Any ideas or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
  7. Yea I won't be doing any WS related work on the computer. Getting the Z97-A leads me to my next question, I will be needing a Wifi adapter so would will it be better to get the Z97-A or get the Z97 Pro Wifi (difference is about $80-100)? If I get the A I can probably get the Asus PCE-AC68 Adapter for ~$100 on sale which makes it more expensive than the Z97 Pro wifi by about $20-30. Reason for needing the Wifi adapter is that I am running a powerline adapter (no way to run ethernet to my computer) and its consistently hanging/dropping/lagging compared to all my wireless device which gets amazing reception all around. If anyone could chime in on the powerline I am using the Trendnet TPL-406E2K. I sometimes do get a fairly consistent connection but caps at 30-40mbps, which is definitely not enough for all the devices on it at once. On Wifi my phone, tablet, laptop all get 175+ mbps (my internet is 250mbps).

  9. Do you mean the ROG series? Maximus VII Formula is out of my price range, but I would consider the Maximus VII Hero Is there a benefit to the WS? it seems overkill, almost $400 for an overkill HTPC pretty much lol. Whats the z97 Linus edition?
  10. Recently just ordered an i7 4790k from the retail edge summer deal and I'm wondering which motherboard to go with it. Here's what I'll be doing with it or what I'm looking for: - No over clocking (might be something I'll look into for the future but don't care if I do or not) - Light gaming (Sc2/dota2/d3) - Won't need SLI/Crossfire - at least 2 USB 3.0 ports (probably pretty standard now) - Movies and web surfing - Would like to have built in WiFi (Or cheap enough for me to buy the Asus PCE-AC68 adapter) my price range is $200-250 preferably. I have been looking at the Asus Z97 series, Can anyone tell me if theres any major differences between the -A and the -E models. Other ones I have been looking at on the more expensive side is the Asus Z97 Sabertooth Mark 2 and Asus Z97-Pro Wifi. Is it better to get a cheaper board then a separate adapter or go with it built in? I am pretty bias towards Asus products, I've never had any issues with them so I would prefer an ASUS board. I am open to any suggestions for any reputable boards though. I am upgrading from a i7 2600k with Asus P8P67 deluxe board which I have no issues with but can't really go wrong with getting the i7 4790k for under 200$ rest of the pc I have if it matters: Case: Corsair 650d RAM: 2 x 4gb Corsair Vengeance 1866 mhz Cooler: Corsair H70 PSU: Antec High Current Gamer 850W GPU: Gigabyte R9 290
