  1. Nope, no crash reports written. I've tried changing the type of crash report to a smaller one as well but it seems like it doesn't know it's crashed. So if my CPU and GPU haven't crashed during stress tests maybe it's the mobo? I guess if I'm returning the mobo I may as well replace everything at the same time since I'll be without a PC.
  2. I've done both, prime95 for over an hour at 60 C and Furmark for 20 mins at 78 C. You reckon lowering the GPU temp would help?
  3. So I've posted here before about this When I play graphically intensive games my PC screen goes black. The sound and programs like skype sometimes carry on but mostly It buzzes or maybe loops. I have to hard reset and sometimes when I turn the PC back on it won't post until I reset the PSU, sometimes it will post like normal and sometimes it will beep 5 times (2 spaced out but quick beeps then 3 quick beeps together). So far I've tried: -a fresh install of windows on a different SSD -upgrading the PSU -running the game with one stick of RAM at a time (crashes) -running 10+ runs of mem test on both sticks with no errors -underclocking the GPU and running the GPU/ CPU at stock What should my next step be? I feel like the GPU is stable, should I RMA that or the motherboard? Or the CPU? I don't know what to do first. Specs: PSU: used to be Corsair CX 600W 80+ Bronze, bought an EVGA super nova G2 750w to replace CPU: Intel i5 4690K slightly overclocked to 4GHz GPU: EVGA GTX 970 SC ACX 2.0 factory overclocked (I've tried underclocking but it still crashes about as often) Mobo: Gigabyte Z97M-D3H Memory: Kingston Fury White Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-1866 Memory Storage: Samsung 850 EVO-Series 500GB 2.5 Solid State Drive Storage: Toshiba 2TB 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive Temps: GPU 70-80 degrees C under load (inc. 15 mins of furmark at 78 C) CPU 60 degrees C under load (inc. prime95)
  4. It's crashed again. Wasn't the PSU. Guess I'll try sending off my GPU for an RMA now.
  5. So I bought the EVGA super nova G2 750w and havn't had any crashes yet. It was too big for my case though, tightest fitting PSU you'll ever see haha. I had to take my case apart to fit it in (DS cube).
  6. As I said, The problem happened when my CPU was still at stock, I'm currently testing 1 stick of RAM at a time and can't get it to crash now... less heat from having an open case maybe. Or maybe my other RAM stick is bad update: crashed with both individual RAM stick so I've ruled that out. I guess I'll buy a new PSU and if that doesn't work replace the GPU.
  7. yeah, I have a feeling it's the PSU but I'd like some opinions before spending £100 on a new one (I'm pretty broke atm). It's happened since I first built the system (before the CPU overclock). I've also tried setting the CPU and GPU to stock speeds which was just as bad.
  8. When I play games such as Black ops 3, The witcher 3, Tomb raider etc. (Sometimes Fallout 4) my PC screen goes black. Is it more likely to be a graphics card or PSU problem? Or motherboard? I've also already tried a fresh install of windows. Specs: PSU: Corsair CX 600W 80+ Bronze (I would buy an EVGA super nova G2 750w to replace) CPU: Intel i5 4690K slightly overclocked to 4GHz GPU: EVGA GTX 970 SC ACX 2.0 factory overclocked (I've tried underclocking but it still crashes about as often) Mobo: Gigabyte Z97M-D3H Memory: Kingston Fury White Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-1866 Memory Storage: Samsung 850 EVO-Series 500GB 2.5 Solid State Drive Storage: Toshiba 2TB 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive Temps: GPU 70-80 degrees C under load CPU 60 degrees C under load I'd appreciate any suggestions.
  9. just 1080p is fine. What you're talking about is response time which is different to input lag. e.g. the AOC is advertised at 1ms response time, tested at 5ms response time and the actual input lag is 16ms.
  10. So far the best choice I've found is the AOC G2460PQU at £200 with a 16ms 'absolute input lag' source: http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/aoc-g2460pqu-144-hz-gaming-monitor,review-32991-9.html Ideally I'd like a 27 inch monitor but they all seem to have a much higher input lag. Anyone have any recommendations? monitors with better colour, input lag, size? My budget is about £250. Thanks
  11. Thanks, I'm still not sure about Z3+ UHS 3 compatibility though as it has an extra row of pins which need a compatible socket to be utilized.
  12. I'm deciding on a memory card for my new phone but I'm unsure of the compatability. Right now I'll probably get the Samsung 64GB Pro MicroSDHC which uses UHS 1. Is this compatible? The UHS 1 I mean, I know class 10 is fine. Would a UHS cat 3 card work? if so is it much faster? Thanks.
  13. I was going to buy a modmic 4 for my new headphones but they're really expensive. What's a good lapel mic that won't pick up my keyboard, buzz or be too quiet? Also needs to have a 3M cable
  14. I went with the audio technica ATH-M50Xs. The reason I chose them over the M40Xs is that they have slightly louder bass and quieter treble which I like as well as being 45mm instead of 40mm, again slightly better for bass though not overpowering in the mix. One more thing is they come with more cables which you cannot switch for normal jacks. I'm waiting for them to arrive now so hopefully they were £90 well spent.
  15. It sounds really fussy but I hate the big L and R on the Philips SHP9500. Also, I'd prefer leather kind of padding to fabric as it's easier to keep clean. I might just blow a load of money on some Bose Soundtrue over ears...
  16. Thanks everyone. I think I'm gonna go for the Audio-Technica ATH-M40X. Although I might possibly go for the M50X instead. Anyone know how much better the 50s are?
  17. My budget is around £60 ($100 US). I'm considering Sennheiser or Sony but there's so many choices. I'd like good bass but not overpowering and obviously a good overall mix 3.5mm jack would be preferable. Cheers guys.
  18. Okay thanks, I'll avoid the official one. I would go for the standalone mic option but I sit quite far away from my PS4/ TV/ PC (I play everything through my TV, better than it sounds). Also, I'd quite like to be able to adjust the volume of chat/ game sounds on the PS4 and have a mic feedback into the headset so I can hear myself and not shout.
  19. If you use a ps4 or ps3 the mic from the hyper X cloud 1 or 2 won't work. I think I read you can't control the volume either.
  20. My Turtle Beach X11 headset just broke (Pretty sit, old headset I've been using for everything for years) I'm looking for a replacement headset that: -Works with PC and PS4 -Has good sound quality with a nice balance for music -build quality, probably metal so they're durable -Has adjustable volume for game and chat on ps4 I considered the Hyper X cloud II headset but reviews said it doesn't allow you to alter chat/ game volume on PS4 Also considering the official PS4 headset my budget is £100 or under
  21. Ah okay, that's good to know. Thanks. So really I could go higher if I wanted to? (probably won't).
  22. Yesterday I overclocked my i5 4690K to 4.1GHz (from the stock 3.5GHz). When I run AIDA64 the temps sit at around 70°C. Also in the Prime95 blend test I get similar results. But when I run small FFTs in Prime95 one or two of the cores reach 85°C, I'm reluctant to test this for a long time as I don't want to damage my CPU. Is this a safe overclock? Here's a screenshot after 20 mins of AIDA64 (fpu test)
  23. 4.1GHz is looking good after 20 minutes of AIDA64. I don't know how to attach images in a reply but none of the cores went over 73°C.
  24. Thanks guys. The HDD is just a backup really, it doesn't get used much. The prodigy is alright but I don't think it's got enough space in it and I personally prefer the look of the DS cube. I'd probably go fractal or something else if I got a different case. I'm not sure what voltage the CPU is running at, I'm changing the overclock soon anyway, giving 4.10GHz a go in a minute.
  25. CPU: Intel Core i5-4690K slightly overclocked to 3.9GHz (running at around 60°C with Aida64 and 70°C or less with Prime95 small FTT) CPU Cooler: Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-Z97M-D3H Micro ATX LGA1150 Memory: Kingston Fury White Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-1866 Memory Storage: Samsung 850 EVO-Series 500GB 2.5 Solid State Drive Storage: Toshiba 2TB 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive Video Card: EVGA GeForce GTX 970 4GB Superclocked ACX 2.0 (factory overclocked, runs at a solid 70°C with the witcher 3 on max settings) Case: Aerocool DS Cube Black Edition Power Supply: Corsair CX 600W 80+ Bronze Certified Semi-Modular Case Fan: Noctua NF-P14 FLX 65.0 CFM 140mm (replaced the 120mm Aerocool fan) I'll soon be upgrading to a Corsair H100i water cooler. In the future when I'm minted I'll put in a custom loop. everything connected ready to route. Finished front. Finished back. The cables look very messy but there's nothing to cool down there. Done. I missed some cable management photos but you get the idea.
