I do want to use wd drives, but i want to build my own NAS. Is WD black robust enough to use in my build. Or WD blue is more than enough for my build. Thanks for your advice.

Could you share the diy tips to build nas. Maybe some web or else. And how to replace D:\ with network storage?

Your sshd is normal then. If you feel that doesn't convince you then go buy external drive and backup all of your data in the sshd. I hope you'll not feel paranoid again

That was locking arm. The one that made from I believe it's plastic that lock your write read head arm. The good news is your platter might be still working or in good health. The bad news is that paticular mechanism maybe start to loose (actually it wouldn't affect your hdd performance, I had one hdd that sound like that and it's still kicking for 5 years now). The click sound made when the locking arm is hit the hdd case. Overall I wouldn't use sshd for now, I had 2 died sshd sitting in my desk now. It's better if you go full hdd or full ssd. For now I believe that sshd is prone to break faster than ssd, even when you not doing anything to them. Dunno if they fix this problen in future.

I'm in process build a NAS in my friend office mainly for data storage(as for D:\ replacement) and data backup(in case if power failure happen and data loss occured in one of NAS hdd). For those scenario should I build 2 different NAS(one as D:\ the second as backup for first NAS) or I could build single NAS that could do both function that I mention. Can I use cheap sata drive then raid it? And common motherboard out there? My friend just need 500gb for each pc (for now it,s 3pc plan to upgrade up to. 10pc Thanks

I refrained to use anything that it's sparepart was hard to find. If only ebay can assesed in my country. But can you point me a gigabyte motherboard that can run ecc. DDR3 or 4 ECC? Well I don't know much about ECC memory. I think about opteron too but is it hard to find commercial motherboard that can run it. Like intel do.

she use AMD Vishera FX-8350 and it doesn't run well for rendering animation.. or maybe there's any specific methods to make her render faster?

they only sell 5820k in my country... okay thank's did they created 1151 xeon already?? uhm I want to fully use new ddr4.. because as far as I know this ram will survive tech change for at least 5 year...in other word she wouldn't need to upgrade.
