Kirky2k15 got a reaction from Stagea in LG B9 OLED and Legion 5 RTX 3070
Thanks but we've already been over this in the thread, if you read it back it says that I've got a Lenovo Legion 5 with an RTX 3070 laptop GPU which is in discrete graphics mode - not hybrid mode or anything.

Kirky2k15 got a reaction from LOST TALE in What do you guys think, when will 4k 144hz monitors come out?
Totally depends on game settings: For example if you turn off FSAA and hairworks and unnecessary stuff like that you will be fine with a 1080 my 290x is ageing more and more everyday but I still get by playing games on my 4k monitor. Sure I don't get 60fps consistantly but Its not a stuttering unplayable mess in fact its quite the opposite.

Next problem would be not only that it's intel, but also last gen.

Kirky2k15 got a reaction from JustTheTip in What display cables do I need?
Yeah over £200 on a dock ain't gonna fly.
Nice idea, but I've just bought a USB-C to display port cable off eBay for £10.99.
Hopefully it'll do the trick and its not a dodgy one... eBay is full of scammers these days...
Anyways, thanks guys!

Just to be clear, if you have Thunderbolt, get the WD19TB dock (to take full advantage).

Kirky2k15 got a reaction from PriitM in Going to upgrade to a 3080, sell my 5700XT now or wait?
What game do you want to play (and at what resolution and frame rate) that your 5700xt can't already handle?
Are you just after bragging rights in benchmarks are something?

Sure. Its originally from something Linus said and I just turned it into the chart.

a i5 10600k is better in gaming than a i7-9700k, and on an upgradeable platform

First off, are you happy with the performance you get now? If you are, dont upgrade. Doesnt matter if there is more performance to be had, if it runs in a way you like now, dont upgrade.

RTX3000 might have a side effect of now using RGB to increase FPS further....you'll want some PSU budget for that Thankfully not much...

What ever you do don't show this to Kyle - He'll go berserk.
Try putting the GPU into a known good system if possible - it's the only way to be sure

Kirky2k15 reacted to KosmicRavioli in Which One Would You Get On A Limited Budget?
Yeap, exactly what I'm thinking. It's used but it's only about 5-6 months old.
The fact that it comes with a X570 Aorus Elite and a beefy cooler gives me confidence that I can upgrade to a higher class CPU down the line, without having to worry about upgrading those parts as well. So potentially cheaper to upgrade in the future.
And while I do like the idea of an RX 5700, ASUS's original TUF RX 5700 model (unlike the revised EVO model) comes with no VRM cooling and relies on the middle fan blowing air directly onto it, which makes it run hot under load (around 84 according to one of the reviews I read) as well as loud, because the fans need to run faster than they would otherwise need to.
Also, I'm assuming the testing was done at around 25 Celsius ambient temperature. Summers get real hot here and the PC will be in a non-conditioned room. So I'm pretty sure it will near or go straight past the 95 degree safety limit.
On top of that, this is strictly for 1080p gaming, and a 3-to-7 fps increase that comes with the 5700 doesn't seem that enticing given the issues it comes with.

Go for the "used" one I say "used" because its all current gen stuff.
Its $100 cheaper, sure your not getting as good a GPU but the $100 can go towards a big NAVI card when they come out around November. so plenty of time to save up and sell the 5600xt
