  1. So I bought a gtx 970 today and noticed it has 2 6pin connects on it. I currently have a BFG 550w ATX Black Power Supply My issue is, while opening and removing my old temporary graphics card I noticed I am missing a pci-e cable that came with my psu. The psu is semi modular and I didnt need the other pci-e cable at the time of use. While removing the old graphics card I noticed the pci-e cable i did have is 8pin to 6pin but 2 of the holes on the 8pin side that go into the psu are just hollow . My question is, can i buy a second cable like this, plug it into my psu, and plug both of these into my gtx 970 to power it? Why are there the 2 hollow holes on the 8pin side of this cable? Is it so i can use a 8pin to 8pin if i want and/or a 8pin hole to 6pin if i want? If my description is to weird ill try to describe what i mean a little better.
  2. any idea on what kind of pci-e cable i could get, would a 6+2 to 6 work?

  4. These are the ones that Ive found in another post that look matching, even with the base being red on one of the monitors. Acer G246HLAbd 60Hz 24.0" Monitor Acer GN246HL 144Hz 24.0" Monitor
  5. This is to save money without compromising looks. I may just go with 2 identical 144hz monitors.
  6. I am trying to find a matching set of monitors that look the same but have different max hz. I will be using 1 monitor for gaming and prefer a 144hz monitor and I will be using a second monitor just for Streams/YouTube. Ive only found 1 set so far that look identical but trying to find more options. Slightly OCD I guess but I would like the displays outer casing to match. Edit: This is to save money without compromising looks. I may just go with 2 identical 144hz monitors.
  7. Would I have any advantage from a 1440p monitor vs 1080p when gaming? Its only a higher resolution, correct?
  8. I should have said this the OS and Optical drive are not part of my budget. Scrapping my old optical drive because I never use one nowadays.
  9. Yea, just waiting on more Fury benchmarks and still doing research on my own.
  10. Will do. I'm sure there will be a lot of price changes in the next couple months with the R9 Furys and R9 390x on the market. Might find a a super cheap R9 290x or 2 lol
  11. In the next couple of Summer months, I'm working extra to make money for a new pc. I'm looking for any tips, deals on parts, or thoughts that might help me or I might be overlooking. This will be my first full build. My rough budget is around low $1500 to high $1900. My current wants are oriented arounds gaming. Gaming as in GTA 5, Fallout 4 for some examples. Going for a duel display setup with 2 144hz 1080p screens. Honestly one of these will probably be YouTube and Twitch streams most of the time so I may downgrade one of these. Not 100% comfortable with water cooling but I may give it a shot if you could come up with a decent build. I'm am normally a fan of Team Red but I will defect if the price and setup looks nice. 8 to 16 gbs of ram if possible. I will be getting paid split into 3 checks and I will be buying things separately over the course of the next 2 months. A good buy order would be nice as well but not necessary. I know I'm asking for a lot but I would really appreciate any advice and help I could get.
  12. In the next two month (June/July) will there be any major releases of GPU's or CPU's that would affect pricing for cards similar in price to gtx 970? I will be working a summer job making extra cash for a new gaming rig and was wondering if it would be best to wait ill late July or August to buy some of the parts. I think I had read somewhere that there would be some new products being releases (not sure) that might lower some of the prices a bit of current parts. Any tips on best times to buy parts this summer or any gaming rigs for around 1200$ are appreciated. If you're interested in leaving me any suggestions in a setup, I am looking to run only 1 monitor at the moment but would like to be able to run dual monitors in the future. Ill most likely be using my old optical drive because I don't use many cd/blue rays . I already own a razer keyboard and steel series mouse also so I don't need those. I am not picky about the case as long as everything will fit. I'm ok with just 8gbs of ram for the time being, but prefer a 8gb stick so I have spots for future upgrades. I am primarily wanting a gaming pc for graphic intensive games. My current monitor only has a 1366x768 resolution.
