  1. I looked at the reviews and the power and everything and looks like i am gonna go with ds920+
  2. Thank you for replying. Synology DS920+ is what I am inclining towards. Appreciate the reply.
  3. Hi everyone, I am a PC enthusiast who has built 5 desktop computers mainly for myself and my friends. But I have always liked the idea of having my own personal media server where I can upload my family photos and videos and also add my ripped ultra HD and blue ray movies/shows. But the more I research on how to build one, the more confused I get. Which cpu to get or do i even need a GPU for transcoding and which HDD will be good? I get stressed out and then just give up. What I want to do is have movies/shows/photos/music and have multiple streams, one for my brother in Chile and have my main stream in my home India, I have mostly full HD data but also some 4k HDR files. What I have right now - 1 gbps download and 20mbps upload fibre internet(I know 20 mbps upload is ridiculous but this is whats available here) - 2 X WD Blue 4TB Desktop Hard Disk Drive - 5400 RPM SATA 6 Gb/s 64MB Cache 3.5 Inch - WD40EZRZ - 2 X WD Red 6TB NAS Internal Hard Drive - 5400 RPM Class, SATA 6 Gb/s, SMR, 256MB Cache, 3.5" - WD60EFAX - 2 X LaCie Mobile Drive 4TB External Hard Drive USB-C USB 3.0 I have absolutely no idea on how to proceed, should I just go and buy Synology NAS or build from scratch(leaning towards this, as it will be a fun experience) but if someone can guide me some to resources or web articles, that would be great. Appreciate it in advance.
  4. USB Internal adapter does look like a way better and easier solution, thank you. I am gonna go with this. Thanks again to everyone who took time to respond to my post @Applefreak @Prodigy_Smit @AbydosOne
  5. No mine is unfortunately old one and its not there. But thanks for suggesting
  6. Hi everyone, I have a WD 4tb external hard drive with USB type b plug(picture attached). I would ideally like to put this inside the tower because I kinda broke the outer shell of the drive and I don't need it to use in between other computers so I just want it inside the computer case. I have been googling to find a USB type b micro cable to Sata if that exists or even if there's any other method of not having this drive not outside on my desk or on top of my tower. I have a MSI B550 Gaming Edge motherboard if that helps. Thanks in advance and sorry if this was a stupid question.
  7. You are awesome, my friend. Thanks again. Can't wait to get started on this build.
  8. Thanks man. Do you know off any good wifi adapter for my build?
  9. Thanks a lot man, I appreciate your comment. Do you think the stock cooler could handle some overclocking if I wanted to in the future?
  10. I made my last gaming PC back in 2013 with the help of this great community. I asked a bunch of dumb questions back then and I am sure I will ask more this time too. I have a budget of about $1750 CAD just for the PC and I am looking to build a computer that lives upto 1440p and 80fps for AAA titles for high settings. After watching too many videos and checking compatibility I landed on these specifications. I am still a noob when it comes to selecting the best bang for your buck thats why I have turned to this community to help me out. This will be for gaming obviously and editing here and there for images, nothing big. What do you think of this configuration, should i swap one for another or keep it the way it is? I am missing a wifi adapter, if you can give me a recommendation for it, that would be wonderful. I have a gigabit internet at home. *The prices below are in USD, I couldn't figure out how to change it to CAD. Sorry Thanks in advance guys. 12. Dude as i said in the post above , i am merely stating the things i own like the router and hard disk I am a noob and i have no idea about NAS drive or anything. So if you can provide me an answer rather than mocking me. then i shall be grateful to you.
  13. Okay so i own a desktop( gaming computer actually), laptop and iPad. I also have an external hard disk of 1 TB alongwith a d link wifi router, here's the link of that http://www.dlink.co.in/products/?pid=452 I have a lot of ripped TV series, movies, anime and songs, now i want to create a setup in which i can put all the data into the external hard disk then stream it across all my devices. I am not looking f I hope you are getting the point. I am basically a noob, so pardon me if i am not using technical words and terms. So basically what i want is to stream the external hard disk data to my computer and tablet.
