We are definitely working on it, but we aren't ready to share an exact timeframe yet since we don't want people to be disappointed when we don't hit it.

I can say though that we're stocking twice as many this time, so hopefully they'll last a little beyond the first rush of orders

Im glad you love it. We worked super hard on this one to get everything just right and while we get some satisfaction from making a buck (who doesn't?), its not nearly as much fun as seeing people wearing and loving the gear

We are trying to offer promotions that don't create an expectation of lower prices. Our everyday prices are reasonable, so when we offer a promo it'll be to get rid of dead stock, promote new items/bundles, reduce shipping rates, etc.

One of the double edged swords of e-commerce is that if you drop the price outright you make your next customer happy... But it comes at the expense of your last one.

That's why it's best (from a retailers perspective) to only drop the price when something is going eol, and best to never do it at all. Otherwise you end up with steam gamers - "nah ill pick it up next week when it's on mega sale"

Some inside baseball for you to consider. Hope it was helpful

Saw the WAN Show. Pretty sure you already got this feedback. Just to reinforce it.

3 Day event. LTX seems big enough now. It seems to be 50/50 gaming and people meet related. It would be a good idea to know how stuff like Anime/Comic conventions handle booths/lines for their creators. If the plan is much bigger then try to get some halls from nearby hotels and such for specific things. Like Board/Arcade/Retro gaming out of main convention centre and focus on creators in the main area. Have line limits, amusement park closed off until more space style. Catering for BYOC was already mentioned but would be nice to have options really nearby all day. Like ice cream/food trucks. If possible, badges with our contact information to just tap at every booth. So no need to write down every time and hold up lines. Easier to manage contact for prizes. Allow main creators to setup their own booths for merch or add it to the main merch booth. I wouldn't mind some tech sponsors selling their products. It would make sense for people that want it but can't justify the shipping eg ifixit. Anime/Comic conventions always have a separate walled off area for this Nitpick butlighting for the main panel area was off. If that can be fixed that would be great. Proper schedule for BYOC night to utilize the big screen would be appreciated. Some lighted areas for people to play board games during BYOC night would be nice addition. Werewolf is a good time in conventions.

@LinusTech will there be a time when you will be able to explain what has been going on with FP. Like all the programming, protocols, business items needed to be done to make something like this possible.

No idea where the sibling bit comes from. My siblings have nothing to do with LMG other than my older sister showing up at LTX to volunteer this year.

LMG is wholly owned by me and Yvonne.

DaiGurenMK42 reacted to Jarsky in Quadrupling the the price for LTT on Float plane. just to start!!!!
Personally I don't mind paying $5 per creator, but not $5 per channel.
I would think if I was paying for a "LinusTechTips" sub, then I should get TechQuickie and Channel Superfun as part of that Sub.
If I pay for BitWit, then If they were to make AwesomeHardware its own thing, I should get that as part of that Sub.

Floatplane to me needs to expand in their content. If its for creators, then maybe try and get some of the car channel creators or more general tech channels or DIY channels on the platform to add diversity.
When you have a number of creators it would be awesome to get like a Super Pass for say $30/month that gives you access to all creators, except maybe special content releases that you have to pay a supplementary for that creator.

I think something like Channel Superfun could become Floatplane only to help get subs over there.
Also some special production like Junkyard Wars could be a Floatplane only series again to get subs over there. Or give like an entire month before putting it on YouTube.

DaiGurenMK42 reacted to LinusTech in Quadrupling the the price for LTT on Float plane. just to start!!!!
So to be clear, $3 subs are being grandfathered. Dial back the anger because if you're already subscribed NOTHING has changed.

At some point the plan IS for that to be for LTT only (including the bts and exclusive stuff) BUT I've left room to reverse that decision. We're just bumping the LMG price to $5 for now.

The decision here was made to ensure that LMG doesn't create an unrealistic bar for other creators on Floatplane to meet. We will lose some subs, but at the end of the day LMG's loss could be the gain of another smaller creator (like eposvox, Kyle or tech deals) and I'm comfortable with that.

Understand that fp is closer to a patreon-like model (supporting creators you like) than a Netflix model (paying to watch exclusive content). These changes are to ensure that a greater portion of the money being contributed is going to the creator vs the platform or payment processor.

Feedback from an Aussie with family attending for a second year.

I'll add a few of items that would be nice to include next year.
     1. Set up lines for each booth with approximate waiting times posted along the length of the line, so people can see how long they will wait if they join the line at that point. It will help people decide if they want to join the line and also set expectations when waiting in line. This would have been good for the VR booth as on the day I saw a short line near the end of the day with about 10-12 people in it and thought great, I'll take the kids in for their first VR experience, but it still ended up being a 30 min wait. Also for booths with set times and set amount of participants you could indicate on the sign that its 4 people at a time and goes for 10 minutes each time, etc.
     2. Sit down areas and rest areas. Maybe some comfy chairs and coffee tables etc. Especially for the plus ones and kids who are dragged around all day and could sit down and rest for bit while their father keeps going around and waiting in lines etc.
     3. Do a preorder for merch, so you can just show up and pick up on the day. Would cut down processing time a lot.
     4. The charity auction biding and cut off time was again bit unfair. Last year I put a few big bids for some items and at the end was outbid by someone who came in at the end and looked through the lists for the highest bid and just upped it by 1 dollar. Same agin this year, at 4pm on the saturday there was a mad rush with everyone grabbing clipboards and putting in the highest bids by a dollar. I think it should be either a true silent auction, where you drop in your bid and details into a box without being able to see the other bids, or an hour before the cutoff, take away the clipboards and if anyone wants to bid have them tell the attendants who can record it without telling them the current highest bid.
     5. Get a meet and greet area for Luke set up. He was stuck all day saturday at the main entrance hallway. Or give him and the other main talent a handler, someone who can take them through the crowds and politely tell fans sorry he is busy right now but will be at the meet and greet booth at these times.

Other than that it was a great event again and my 2 boys, 5 and 10, loved it as well. I was a bit apprehensive about bringing them as last year was a bit of a mad house with kids running around everywhere, but this year was great. Everything was structured and organised and it really was a family event.

Hope to see everyone again next year.

P.S. Just arrived back in Sydney after extending our stay in Vancouver and then going on up to Alaska. If anyone is contemplating going, I highly recommend it. A beautiful part of the world to see and there is so much to do. Take the whole family, I will be again next year!

The BYOC tournament times were all on Saturday, during the actual convention, which meant that I didn't participate because I wanted to actually walk around the convention and do things. Would be nice if the tournaments started at like 5 or 6 on Saturday so you could spend most of your time actually enjoying the Con and booths instead of deciding which is more important.

I agree a 3-day event is possible, but likely not feasible.

The loading/unloading area for BYOC was a bit of a walk, and those of us without carts were stuck carrying our rigs all the way to the east building. Wouldn't be as much of an issue if it gets moved to the west building, but even then, having some carts in rotation to help move rigs in and out of the convention center would be nice (borrow some luggage carts from the hotel?)

VR RC cars was a bit of a shit show(no offense Jake, we know you tried your best). That was the one thing I wanted to do, but the line to use one of the 2-3 operational cars was too absurdly long for me to justify standing there for half the day to enjoy it for 10 minutes (or whatever it was).

Towards the end of the day when booths are wanting to cut off lines, maybe have a volunteer available to hold a flag signaling the cut off (or something)? the dude running the MSI booth just told me to be the cutoff and tell people as much. I got a dragon out of it, which is nice, but there is an easier way.

Open up volunteer applications for next year earlier? this was my first year so I wanted to spend my time actually experiencing the con, but next year I'll absolutely volunteer. If you open up the volunteer applications when you announce tickets (or even before) I can probably overcome my procrastination to actually fill it out this time.

Need help marketing yourself? The LMG marketing team will help you sell yourself and get those sweet sweet sponsorship dollars. Need merch. Berkel seems like an incredibly skilled video editor, capable of 'telling a story' in his CSF videos, but with the limited budget in that channel it seems like he couldn't fully work out what he wanted.

This I think is the best example of people getting bored at LMG and to me perfectly shows the development and purchases of the company.
E.g. Techlinked in general with Riley, James being more and more in front of the camera, Anthony doing all the incredibly detailed and excellent videos.

The best example I can think of though is Alex, receiving all those expensive items. It's in the best interest of LMG to have Alex always able to come up with more ideas and never be like 'yea, I don't have any ideas ... I'm just not gonna do any work today'.

Acquiring youtube channels is complicated for a number of logistical and legal reasons.

Its not unthinkable for us to do something like that at some point, but if that channel ended up being Gamers Nexus I'd eat a mod mat.

Steve's running a successful business over there and would have no desire to sell, and for my part there would be very little value in acquiring a business with most of the value tied up in one individual. That's a lot of legal headache when I could more easily just hire that person (which, to be clear isn't happening).
