  1. Alright, should it have a bridge function in it? Or would that not be necessary?
  2. I can't really do that since i've attatched my NAS to it and there's a lot of fixed wiring around the house. Plus, I still need to have WIFI on the ground floor.
  3. That sure sounds good. So do you have any particular brand/model you can recommend?
  4. I'd rather say my standards have changed, seen as we've gone from 8 Mbps up/1 Mbps down to 100Mbps up/100Mbps down. Seeing my speed drop upstairs was agrivating, So I really want to do something about it.
  5. I am extremely happy with synology, I personally use the DS214se, It's quite cheap and does what it's supposed to do. I put two WD 1TB drives in RAID 1 in it for redundancy. If you want a bit more muscle, for example for streaming videos, you can choose a higher tier model.
  6. Dear People of the Linustechtips forum, I recently got a new WAN connection (fibre-optic) and a new router/modem with it. After running through the setup and getting everything working, I noticed that on the 1st floor, there was not enough WIFI signal to do basically anything on mobile devices. I've been reading up on different solutions, some people argue that a WIFI repeater is the best, others say that you should go with an Access-point. I know that there are solutions that can clone your network, so that you don't have to swith networks when you go upstairs. After seeing many people being in favour of access-points, it caught my attention. Does an Access-point clone your network? Or create a new one? What are your experiences with either devices? Can you give me some advice on which model/brand is reliable? Hopefully you can educate me a little more. Thank you guys in advance. Have a wonderful evening (from The Netherlands), Rambi
  7. Sure, although I can't say with any certainty. My father is doing some family research (genealogy). For this he uses a programme called Gens Data Pro. I live in The Netherlands, and the programme was sent to us over mail. In addition, he saved all of his research on the PC, even though we have a RAID 1 NAS. (which I insisted he should back it up on). Either way, I finally got the PC working, and it's running like a charm. I used Samsung's data transfer to clone the old HDD to the SSD and I'm currently formatting the old HDD so that it doesn't conflict anymore. Thank you all for thinking with me! Have a great day!
  8. Okay, turns out I read over a fairly important bit of the tutorial. Apparently, WMP network service can interfere with Sysprep. I turned it off in the command prompt and I got it working. Thanks for the quick reply nonetheless. Have a great day! Rambi
  9. Hello all, I just got my new Asrock H87 pro4 and Intel Core I3 4360 in for an upgrade i'm doing on our home pc. Thinking this would be an easy switch, I de-installed all drivers I could find via control panel. I switched the old Gigabyte GA-A75M-D2H FM1 mobo out for the new Asrock. However, when I then tried to boot the PC it wouldn't load windows. So I did some trouble shooting and turns out: the old drivers were getting in the way of things. After trying to Sysprep the system through the command promt, which failed (Fatal error occured), I tried it one more time and it took over 2 hours, so i shut the pc down. Fast forward to today, I basically don't know what I should do at this point. A thing to note is that the original pc wasn't built by me, but by a small company specialized in self-built computers. I really don't want to re-install windows, seen as there are some pretty expensive programmes on the pc which can only be installed once. I have also bought an SSD to put into the new system for better performance, along with the 500 GB HDD that is already in there. I hope you can help me out on this one. Thank you all in advance. *Edit 1* I've seen this tutorial over at seven forums describing how to transfer windows, however, as said i keep getting the fatal error. http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/135077-windows-7-installation-transfer-new-computer.html
  10. So is there a good way to solve it apart from RMA'ing the device?
  11. I think it has something to do with the drivers resetting, I think I've mentioned it earlier, but that's the error it's giving me. At least now it doesn't crash anymore, or black out the screen, but it does quit my game.
  12. alright, I order from a company called Azerty.nl Living in the Netherlands, that's easy for me, and they have pretty decent prices at around 75 bucks for 8 GB 2400 MHz
  13. whoops sorry mate
  14. http://www.amd.com/en-gb/products/processors/desktop/a-series-apu Look at the specs of the different APU's.
  15. I personally thought of going with Kingston hyper x beast RAM. The site I usually order from (and trust) actually charges more for 2133 MHz than 2400. So I think I'll go with the 2400 anyway. Though I don't know whether I'd have to underclock or leave it as it is.
