Flash drives aren't an option since I don't have a USB 2.0 or 3.0 port on my laptop. And yes, I know I have to go for an external drive, my post is about knowing which option is the best.

DrMacintosh got a reaction from Paul Thexton in Reddit pulls a Twitter. Third Party Apps will cost some developers $20 MILLION/yr.
Source 7 seemed mainly worried about transcribers not being able to transcribe content on Reddit:
For general accessibility concerns, I would take those up with your operating system of choice. Many operating systems, such as macOS and iOS have industry leading accessibility features. If the user choose to not use said features to make their lives easier, that is not someone else's responsibility.

Reddit should be accessible, and it mostly is. Laws like the ADA mandate accessibility, so companies build accessibility features into their products and people either use the features provided to them or willingly choose to not use them. Those that choose to not use the features have no grounds to complain imo. Reddit charging for API access does not impact the use of screen readers.

Can Reddit improve its accessibility? Absolutely. But using third party applications and services that attempt to back port accessibility into Reddit is not how accessibility on the web is supposed to work. The source of the content needs to be accessible.

The 2019 16" MacBook Pro will get 1 more year of software support at most. The latest macOS versions, macOS Sonoma only supports 2018 Intel Macs and newer.

    Summary
The game porting kit Apple released turns out to have a publicly available launcher for windows games through a simple terminal command and working pretty much like proton does on Linux. This is based on Crossover Code and is published as open source from Apple.

    My thoughts
There is not a lot of information out there but in the video you see how easy it actually is.
installing it works super easy with homebrew in simple steps:
    https://gist.github.com/Frityet/448a945690bd7c8cff5fef49daae858e

There are little amounts of people that have tried that yet since it requires the developer Mac OS beta but depending on how well this works this could be absolutely huge.
people are saying the source code reveals it should be directx9-12 compatible.

When Apple announced the Emergency SOS feature they did say it was going to be free for X amount of time. I don’t recall how they said it would be free for. Either way, yes, it will be optional and you don’t have to pay for it if you don’t want it.

DrMacintosh got a reaction from Lurking in Is the MacOS ram management better than Win 11? 16GB RAM on win11 vs a latest M2 macbook (currently using 16gb ram & 5600h Asus Vivobook 16")
For some background knowledge, Apple Silicon has a "unified memory architecture" which really just means the memory is on the same package as the SoC. The result is that the memory is incredibly fast with minimal latency. This makes running out of memory very hard to notice. The real world impact of this is that any Mac with Apple Silicon that is running out of memory will feel faster than any traditional PC under the same circumstances. 16GB should be plenty on a Mac.

For the battery life improvements over PCs alone, I highly recommend any Apple Silicon Mac. If you aren't doing engineering, programing, or heavy video editing, I would highly consider a M2 MacBook Air. You'll get almost all the same performance and all the battery life for less. I'd only get a Pro if you need the bigger displays.

DrMacintosh got a reaction from Crunchy Dragon in File Sync between PC and Laptop
Just use an SMB file server? If you don't intend to access these files outside your home network this will keep the files used between any number of connected computers up to date. This requires a router with a USB port or using a dedicated PC/Raspberry Pi for this. This is a low cost solution but is not necessarily open source.

Since you don't want to use the Cloud, to gain access to your files outside of your home network is going to require you building a small file server that you personally operate and configuring a secure VPN into your home network, but this is not free. Or you could get a NAS with remote access features, but those are neither free nor open source.

Or you could just use a cloud sync provider like OneDrive. I would not touch Google Drive with a 10ft pole as it scans literally everything you upload to it. For my personal files I use iCloud Drive with advanced data protection turned on so all my files are encrypted on Apples servers and only I have the key. That way, even if Apple or any other entity were to scan my files, they would only see encrypted files.

These foldable are never worth repairing as they are guaranteed to fail again. These types of phones really just don't hold up to every day use. I'd sell it for parts, see if you can get a display out and using a keyboard and mouse to reset it.

Thanks, I’ll keep an eye on that. The hub actually looks really good with SD support etc. But that cable length may be an issue. The USBC on the Magic Keyboard is power only, so couldn’t use that instead

I don't own that hub personally, one thing I would keep a look out for though if you do get a hub is cable size, You don't really want the hub dangling off the side of the iPad.

It is a bit difficult to get a display out conveniently with an iPad since they only have 1 port natively. However, according to Apple, you can use either a USB-C to DP or USB-C to HDMI cable to get a display out. You can also use a hub or adapter such as the Apple USB C Digital AV adapter (or similar device). Going this route means just about any modern display will work.

Anker makes really good hubs, a USB-C one should not be too expensive and should work with the iPad.

Never heard of the issue but have had a sweet smell from my backpack after forgetting I had some mint tic tacs in there for months on end.
As for possible causes maybe you are sensitive to particular adhesives or something?
with a little heat the smell is noticeable and could possibly be the sticky substances on tapes for batteries tape to hold wires in place kaptan tapes covering circuits ?
